Reallly feel Sceptile really got screwed big time in this game for no reason. Lack of leaf blade early on really hurts, it learns it at 59 now? When rando mons who don't even get it like Venusaur learn it much earlier.

Going to swap him out for another mon. Has been underwhelming from fallabor town onwards.

While I do appreciate the difficulty, the deliberate move to remove useful TMs you could get regularly in the game like bulk up and other boosting moves seems very unnecessary and kinda cruel lol. There's a difference between difficult and just unfair when you got the opponent using egg moves and full TM range when you are insanely limited.

My team has pokerus and I had no idea what it was but after seeing the effects, I'm guessing it doesn't do anything in Emerald Kaizo?

Even without this hack, Sceptile's kind of weak. It has amazing Speed, but the coverage it can get is not in its level-up moves, namely Crunch and Thunder Punch. Leaf Blade's great, Dragon Claw's OK, but for the most part Sceptile's a bit mediocre in my opinion. Swampert's the best Hoenn starter in my opinion. Both it and Blaziken don't need breeding to improve its moveset. Your other point about the game's difficulty is valid, you're mostly forced to run an offensive team, you have no other choice, at least until you reach Ever Grande City. There, you can get Rare Candies and level up the defensive and tanky Pokemon that are hard to level up naturally in the wild and whatnot.

Ever since the intro said it was pretty much impossible to Nuzlocke the elite four, I have been tinkering with ways to get through it without losing any party members and minimal hax on set mode. I think I finally found one. I also tried not to use pseudo-legendaries in this team, to make it a bit more of a challenge, but ultimately having a good steel type, is critical, and none do the job nearly as well as Metagross

    The team is
Metagross - attack boosting nature/high attack iv
    Slaking
    Charizard
    Hariyama
    Ludicolo - rain dish
    Milotic

Other pokemon that seemed viable/worked well: Swampert, Slowking, Arcanine, Bellossom, Claydol, Gardevoir, Glalie

Sidney: It is just a matter of timing your switches right. For me, he will always use his Machamp after his Sabeleye. If you start with Metagross, he will try to EQ it. So you switch to Charizard, then he will try to rock slide, so you switch to Hariyama, then you fake out and cross chop/superpower. A similar switch is required on Tauros, but otherwise, the battle is pretty simple.

Phoebe: This battle you can even get some hax against you and still win without losing Pokemon. I was hit by hypnosis and missed some attacks due to double team but still managed it with ease. Having a heightened attack stat on your Metagross is important because then you can 2 shot Sabeleye, which is helpful to prevent Sabeleye from setting up more double teams.

The Glacia battle becomes ridiculously easy with this team, the only problem is making sure you don't get hit by the explosions and self-destruct. Even if you do, you can still win. For example, if you switch in Metagross, when Wailword self-destructs it will survive. It never happened to me with Regice, but I am assuming it could take that too. Ludicolo is an absolute gem in this matchup. The combination of rain dish and giga drain, makes it recovery extremely strong. Using this strategy, dewgong, swampert, and lapras are KO'd incredibly easily. Then between, Hariyama and Metagross, the rest of the battle is pretty straightforward.

Lance: His Latios is really really annoying. I think I spent most of my runs trying to figure out a strategy to work around its draco meteor. It will one-shot pretty much anything you throw at it. Ultimately, Milotic is bulky enough to tank a hit and hit back with an ice beam. But, that still won't KO! Instead, use mirror coat. Another strategy is to just soft-reset till you freeze with ice beam. Metagross doesn't work as a lead because it's meteor mash can't 1 HKO without a crit. Outside of his Latios, the rest of Lance's team is fairly straightforward tho. Having an ice punch on your Ludicolo is helpful.

Steven: Personally, I found Lance to be harder than Steven because of that over-powered Latios. Though, this battle is incredibly difficult without a fire-type because Jirachi and Metagross are so bulky. But Charizard can OHKO both of them with ease. From there, you just should have a good amount of priority moves on your team as Deoxys will usually weaken itself into range, for one priority move to KO it. Arcanine's extremespeed is extremely useful for that, but since it provides less value in switching in on earthquakes, I still think Charizard is better.

The last thing I'll note is that Slaking is incredibly powerful. On almost all my runs, Slaking picked up the most amount of KOs. Since it has great speed, after the turn it switches in, it usually moves first. Moreover, it is so powerful, that it can often OHKO a lot of foes. Even when it doesn't, just by smarty cycling switches, pretty much no pokemon can take two attacks by Slaking.

I understand that a lot of these pokemon are rare encounters, so it is hard to get them on your first encounter. But the Elite Four's teams are all so punishing and broken, that you do need the perfect team, in my experience. Put together, this was a really fun exercise, and I hope this helps anyone trying to beat the Elite Four without losing any party members. If any of you have tried something similar or have built a team from more common encounters that can beat the Elite Four without losing a member or lots of haxs, I'd be really interested to see it!

can't catch anything at all? I'm trying to catch Wailord. It's level 68, asleep, 1hp, underwater. I have thrown over 300 dive balls and ultra balls each and have not caught it. Can someone explain please? Does the rom just set catch rate to fucking 0.000001%?

Pretty much, yes. Any mon that has to do with legendaries (you need Wailord for Regis) has a completely asinine catch rate. You'll get it eventually but use turbo for your own sake.

Is there a discord community for this game? Couldn't find a link or any information about it online.

    Thank you!

Why is there a rock smash rock on the ladder in granite cave? how the hell do i progress?

After you beat brawli, the rock is gone. I spent two hours solving the puzzle and then got stuck in front of the rock, used escape rope, beat brawli, and when I returned, the rock was gone.

So I just have beaten the game. Currently trying to catch mewtwo. Why does not repel work in desert underpass? And also, in the victory road, just before the last expert trainer (old man), the itemfinder says there is a hidden item but no matter how many times I press the A button, there is no hidden item here.

Just threw around 100 ultra balls at wobafet, could not catch it, then reset the game and stopped trying.

Im struggling so hard with the 7th gym, actual team:
    Blaziken
    Ampharos
    Gardevoir
Altaria (Gonna change to salamence before E4, too lazy to train Bagon now)
    Nidoking
    Walrein

Any tips? Thiss double battles are ridiculouss

    Also, best wway to grind?

Best way to grind is to have rematches with trainers after gym 5. Fair warning though, trainers will quickly have Lv 100 pokemons, although you can strategize in a way so that you can beat their Lv 100 pokemons while you are in your Lv 60s.

I managed to get my Blaziken, Blastoise, Charizard, Linoone, Meganium and Camerupt to Lv 100 before gym 8. Also, after victory road, used move deleter to forget HM moves and also used heart scales to vamp up all the movesets. Yeah, have just beaten the league. Now, standing in front of mewtwo.

Why does not repel work in desert underpass?

Repels only work on Pokemon at a lower level than the first Pokemon in your Party. Since everything in that cave except Nincada is level 100, the repels are useless. Use Roar or Fluffy Tails to counter Shadow Tag.

Just threw around 100 ultra balls at wobafet, could not catch it, then reset the game and stopped trying.

Wobbuffet, Pseudos and Legendaries are like that in this game. Even with Sleep, 1hp and turbo save states, it can take hours to catch just one Pokemon. Use timer/return/net balls etc when applicable to increase your odds.

(Or just cheat in master balls. The catch rates of certain mons are that ridiculous.)

Anybody know what level Wailmer evolves at?
It doesn't evolve at lvl 40 like in regular games, but I am aware that some evolve levels got adjusted.
I just need to know what level.
My Wailmer is currently lvl 60.

Edit: It's actually lvl 70 that Wailmer evolves. Hopefully that helps people who can only settle with evolving Wailmer
