Teen accused of burning a kitten alive.

I realize that it is just a kitten, and five to ten years in jail or a mental institution would be OK for her; but killing any kind of living being, be it human or animal, in such an inhumane way is just sick and wrong. Amachi and BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER, I know you think it's wrong, and I know you think it's just a kitten, but it's not JUST that she has been in trouble for. She has done other things and gotten away with it, but she has drawn the line at the kitten killing. She has to pay for that, and everything else she has done.

All of the horrible crimes being committed out there and we're ultra concerned about a kitten being killed? -.-; I'd hardly call killing a kitten the first degree, let alone anything important enough to warrant her death sentence of all things. A lot of you are overreacting because kittens are "cute" and stuff like that, but is that not a bias? If she killed someone's pet tarantula, that someone loved, would you all be saying the same thing? I guarantee not.

I have lived right out side of Washington DC, my entire life. I have heard Washington DC news, all my life. There is a murder almost every night either in directly in DC or the metro area surrounding. If I were to post one of those stories, no one would care. Y'all might say "Awww, sad", but that would be it. You are all so concerned with the fact that a cat got cooked to death, but when a man is killed by a white supremest at the Holocaust Museum, there are no threads posted. When a woman is found raped and decapitated, no one cares. When a little child is molested, no one cares. You are all too concerned with a kitten to hear what is really happening.. However, the man, the women, and the child had families and friends, people who loved and cared about them.

Even though murderers and rapists are bad, sick people; they are still people. They have people who love them. I am in no way protecting murderers and rapists, but I am asking everyone to have a little heart for humans. For people who might have had the potential to do great things, but their lives were innocently taken from them. Kittens are lovable, but humans are our brothers and sisters.

I think I have an idea as to why people don't care as much when people die: simply because those types of murders happen all the time. Unless someone or something dies in some random and unusual way, most people, other than loved ones and friends, don't seem to care.
Since I know how strange that must sound, let me put it this way. How many of you guys would have replied to this thread if that cat died by being run over by a car? I doubt very many, since that happens all the time. However, because it died by being shoved into an oven, that's random and creepy and horrifying and it hits front page news. :/

Man can defend for itself. We have arms, legs, technology. What does a kitten have? It's claws probably wouldn't even pierce human skin, and not to mention it only recently just first opened it's eyes.

Every living thing has as much right to live as anything else. Even a fly, because if we lose flies (or anything on the food chain), the whole food chain is screwed. That kitten had a family, just like the rest of us, so it's hardly fair to pretend this is nothing. Like Trap-Eds said, people die every day. Kittens don't get cooked every day.

While you post a good arguement it still doesn't matter. Its a life. A poor defencless soul. A kitten is like a child. You have to protect and nurish it from monsters like this girl. A soul is a soul and it doesn't matter if its useless. It could be the light in someones life for all we know.

But your argument still has a fatal flaw. If this girl was going around and cooking someone's pet fly in an oven, that someone loved very much, nobody who's whining about the kitten would whine at all. Because hey, it's just a fly. The death of that kitten, in reality, affected the lives of a single family, one of the god knows how many in the world. Families have lost pets in worse ways and have moved on, so I don't see why this is being made out to be such a big deal.

Kittens die everyday, just like people, and I can guarantee a lot of them die in worse ways than being baked in an oven. This seems to be such a big deal to you all because the deaths of kittens aren't regularly covered in the media, and thank god they aren't, because if every death of a kitten was covered in the news, clearly nobody here would ever sleep. And for crying out loud, I can't believe I'm arguing about something so petty, so I'm dropping it after this.

I heard a story about boy who would hang cats by their tails from trees and shoot them with bee-bee guns for target practice. Then leave the cats hanging from trees to starve to death or die from the bee-bee wounds. You don't heard that stuff very often, but it happens. Do those boys deserve to die, not in my opinion.

Well imaging a few men kidnapped a young boy, tied him up by his leg, shot him with an air rifle several times then left him there to starve to death or slowly bleed. Do they still not deserve to die? The BB story is a lot more cruel and sickening than the one at hand, it's torture and prolonged death.

Some of the "it's ok it's just a kitten calm down" posts are a bit disheartening imo, yeah ok it's not a human, but it would of still felt an immense amount of pain and it still didn't deserve to be cooked alive.

And some of you suggesting the death sentence over this need to chill. Yes, what she done was wrong, and killing an animal like that is sick. But a lot of countries/states don't hand out the death sentence to peadophiles or murderers of other humans. In what will seem hugely hypocritical on my part i will say it was only a cat. Sad story but it's not like it was someones son or daughter. The girl should still be punished but c'mon, death sentence is way extreme.
