How will this affect Pokemon Battle Revolution? I'm pretty sure there isn't an animation for Flying Pikachu, just like there's no models for the formes, or the PL/HG/SS trainers, or...

Flying pikachu seems a bit off... If it has balloons then it wouldn't need to use fly and to drop down from fly it would have to let go of the balloons to drop with enough force to hit anything. Flying implies you can control flight, holding onto balloons is just floating. But pokemon doesn't take that into consideration because apparently all pokemon don't need to eat to survive or go to the bathroom, and they don't die but somehow they can get killed or die naturally because there's a cemetery in every game. Charizard should die if knocked out by a water attack, and a lot of attacks would be incredibly fatal if they hit anyways. I think you would do a little more than faint if you got hit with a bolt of lightning while in the water. But enough of that. The idea sounds kind of awesome.

That katana pika would also be great but as it is already pointed out that it cannot be implemented in the game there's no point discussing over katana pika anyway.(I would have loved to see it in the game! XD)

Sanity...sanity sanity. Who cares as long as it's cool! And baloons or not it's a flying pikachu so it should have levitate. And the ability is not attached to the species either. I mean on Pokésav you can edit any pokemons ability (chamrander levitate ftw) but still not editing nthat particxualr species of pokemon. So there for Flying Pikachu could know levitate without another Pokédex entry.

Let's hope for balloon pikachu!

technically speaking pikablu actually is Marill... do some google research and i believe that's what ya get...

so yeah... over 10 years later we finally get an answer to the question "why the hell is there a piackhu with balloons strapped to its back in the yellow version intro!?"

For people who think the idea of Flying Piakchu is weird:

Fly Pikachu was available in 1st and 2nd Gen as a promotional event. Granted, it was never as well-known as Surf Pikachu.

That is where the 1st-Gen Promo card "Flying Pikachu" Came from, as how the "Surfing Pikachu" Promo card was based on the Surf Pikachu Event.

Wow, this thread makes me feel old compared to the rest of the fanbase, haha. As Dunsparce said, there was an old event for Pikachu with Fly in the 1st gen (though it might have been Japan-only), and the TCG card looked like this:

Granted, there was never an anime episode about it like Surfing Pikachu, but it did have a part in the manga, and there were at least two events in the 3rd gen with flying Pikachu (Japanese ANA and American Bryant Park), though you couldn't transfer the moves due to the HM rule, and unlike the special one with Surf, it hadn't been available in the 4th gen (until now, I suppose).

Anyways, I'm excited to see it come back. I'm a sucker for special/exclusive moves, so I love that it can learn Fly again, and I'll be sure to get one, even if all it does is sit in my box. :P

AHA! That's where I saw it! It's an old TCG card! I figured it was in the Manga too, but I couldn't really place the other one. It was a card after all.
I'd like to see Flying Pikachu make a comeback, myself. And both flying and surfing Pikachu should get their own sprite, which I bet they will.
