Honestly, the Pokemon franchise is going TOO FAR with this

(Damn it! if only I could post links, but I'm telling you, anime director Masamitsu Hidaka confirmed Gen 5 himself, so don't flame me for pointless ranting!)

Generation 4 was my favourite, and the last that I would tolerate. What the hell are they going to make out of the new legendaries? (If it's something that is yet again more powerful than the last generation I'm going to shoot myself. For pete's sake, Arceus is the god of all Pokemon, Dialga controls time and Palkia controls space. That's been settled).
And with each generation the Pokemon get more cartoony, I mean Gen 4 Pokemon were quite cartoonish but still loveable. As for Gen 5... I can't imagine it. As I said in another post, Dialga and Palkia are as unrealisticaly Play-doh looking as Pokemon can get. What's it going to be in Gen 5? SOMETHING THAT RESEMBLES MICKEY MOUSE??? I can't take any more! Then they'll just get to the point where they resemble neither animals OR monsters!
Oh yes, and also the fact of the main female protagonist being replaced YET AGAIN. Honestly, after they replace Dawn, I'm going to say "you know what, forget this" and I won't watch or play any of the Pokemon anime or games after Gen 4. It's just going to be me, my DVDs of the good old Diamond and Pearl series and my beautiful AU fanfic, IN WHICH GEN 5, OR ANY FUTURE GENERATION FOR THAT MATTER DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT!
Come on, many of us have felt the pain of our fave female protagonist being replaced and never seen again besides a few episodes during the next Gen. Especialy all you Misty fans out there who stopped watching Pokemon after Misty left; you may not be big Dawn fans like I am, but at least you have a similar story.
And this ain't just about female protagonists, this is about all Gen exclusive characters (eg. Drew, Harley, Nando, Zoey).
When Dawn leaves and the new Pokemon come reeling in, I'm saying goodbye to the Pokemon canon; though I will always love the concept of Pokemon.

P.S. Satoshi Tajiri has already served a great purpose, now he's just going for nothing but the money with whatever crummy future designs Ken Sugimori can think of. Such a shame...

Those legendaries attached to the stories of the anime and the games, it was necessary to make them as powerful as they were.

I think that the Pokemon have been perpetually being cartoony and all serious looking. Each one has it's handful of cartoony Pokemon (Lickitung, Dunsparce, Chimeco and Bidoof) and each have their own handful of serious looking ones (Charizard, Tyranitar, Salemence and Luxray).

I mean Gen 4 Pokemon were quite cartoonish but still loveable. As for Gen 5... I can't imagine it.

Eheh actually I hate to be the one to say it but..you just said yourself that generation IV was your favorite. You really don't think that you'll like generation V equally as much? You're different, as in most people that make rant threads like this are the ones who love the first or second generation and only them. I for one, am completely in favor of a generation V. Sure, Pokemon is one of the ultimate cash cow franchises but I'll continue buying the (main) games and watching the show haha.

If you're tired of these new Pokémon, why play the new games? Instead of complaining about it save yourself the pain and misery and cut it. Complaining doesn't do anything and won't resolve any problem that you have with the franchise.

Also, your argument sucks. You can save yourself the trouble of seeing weirder Pokémon by stop buying their products. It's obvious that they're going to create more Pokémon because the games are still popular so it's a "So . . .yeah." in this situation. The creators don't care what power some Pokémon had because they only want money and will continue to do so.

This thread has potential to open a legitimate discussion of whether people can look forward to Gen 5 or not, instead of hoarding in a pack of smart-alecs who simply disregard my discussion as a whole.

Arceus is "the god of all Pokemon" according to what? And in what capacity? Even going with that Arceus is divine (which is certainly debatable at best), look at Japan's indigenous religion, Shinto. They have various gods of elements and stuff, and their big/head gods are distant creatures rarely referenced who delegate their power. So Arceus is the Creator god, but that's IT. He's nothing more, nothing less.

And so what? Back in Gen I (FIRST GENERATION), Mewtwo was the STRONGEST Pokemon there is, and it was cloned from a Pokemon that can supposedly LEARN EVERY MOVE and has the GENETIC MAKEUP OF ALL POKEMON in it.

Did Gamefreak, Nintendo, and the anime production staff throw their hands up in the air and say "Well, we can't top THE MOST POWERFUL, can we? I wonder if that new Barbie Princess game has a programer yet?"

Satoshi Tajiri is, as far as I know, inactive from Gamefreak entirely. According to Nob Ogasawara, the former translator for the series, he found out this:

I actually don't mind a new generation of Pokemon. (I have 400 of the 493 pokemon already and have a bunch of level 100s and other high level pokemon, so showing us some new Pokemon helps.) Personally, I didn't find this current generation that interesting anime-wise because of certain pokemon trainers, but the new Japanese intro changed my mind and I'm interested again. (I saw Ash with BAYLEEF. <333) The Sinnoh pokemon were more appealing to me than the ones in third gen. Skuntank, Toxicroak, Drapion, Infernape, Torterra, Togekiss, Happiny, Luminion, and Bonsly are some of my fourth gen favorites.

I'm a Misty fan, but I haven't stopped watching the anime entirely just because she left. (I actually thought she would come back later in the series since Brock did, but then I read that interview on Pokebeach just last year. But since the old director is no longer in charge, I'll take what he said about her not coming back as a main character with a grain of salt. You never know what the future holds. Note: Pokethlon seems like something Misty could do.) Personally, I like Kotone more than Dawn. Chikorita was my first ever Pokemon, so I'm happy she has one, too. :D I hope Kotone appears in the intro when Ash goes to the battle frontier.

Tldr; version--I'm looking forward to gen 5. (You know they're going to have to top HeartGold and SoulSilver.)

This thread has no way of forming legitimate discussions when the original post basically boils down to "bawww I won't stand for generation 5 happening and therefore it shouldn't!!11 WHERE MY DAWN FANS AT".

Nintendo don't give a hoot as to whether or not you're going to carry on watching the Anime or playing the games; as long as a franchise makes money then it's going to continue. And you yourself admit that they didn't do a shabby job with Generation IV, so why on Earth are you so biased against a Generation V? We don't know anything about it other than it's going to happen and that, obviously, it's going to have to top HG/SS (which are getting rave reviews everywhere). It's like saying the next Star Trek movie is going to suck despite this one being awesome even though all we know about it is that it's in Pre-Production and involves the same basic idea of a starship called the Enterprise.

As for the concept of Dawn leaving and a new character replacing her, that's what has to happen. Change has to happen, or a medium will become stale and unimaginative. It's your right to stop watching the show, but coming here and complaining all over the place with arguments that quite frankly defy logic (if Dialga and Palkia look like Play-Doh then what on Titan does Ditto look like to you?!) and an unwillingness to listen to anybody but yourself is a bit thick. I agree with Jorah, try to form a coherent argument that isn't all personal opinion and more people might try to listen to you. :/

Oh, really? Then explain Brock returning? The writers could have easily kept him off even WITH the realization that most of the fanbase in America doesn't even care about his facial features, saying we don't matter, but they brought him back anyways.

Heck, they could have easily said that to Carol B. Weatherford in regards to Jynx, and make the entire hearing null and void, and kept having Jynx being black even up to this generation, but they succumbed to her will, wussed out, if you will.

If they can do it in those two instances, chances are we can do something about it if we put our mind to it.

im actually looking forward to Gen5 I hated Gen4 they all looked horrible but one question, wat system will it come out on because will it be possible to trade with HG/SS D/P/pt?
