I'm saddened by the number of responses that include some variation of "I wouldn't go topless so others shouldn't either." I would like to see someone show evidence that our western societies would be harmed if a couple of women started going topless. Because, really, if it doesn't harm anyone then no one has the right to tell you you can't do it. Period. Full stop.
Who said that?
Going topless for women would harm society in the same way full nudity would. Boobs, unlike chests, are private parts.
I'm saddened by the number of responses that don't read where the topic is at =< It seems to be one of the less pleasurable part of participating in debate threads.
I agree but the same should go for men. I would be uneasy around a man as well. Either because I was getting aroused in public or his body was gross.
Then ban men going topless. =/ However, once again men are not equal to women and this is one of the reasons. Chests are not private parts. Boobs, are.
I really don't understand what is wrong with giving women the option to be topless without being fined. It's not as if once this law were created (abolished?) then everyone would be running around naked. If you don't want to walk around without a top on, don't. If you get hot and want to take your top off, you should have the option.
Now I bid this thread adieu.
Replace any instance of half naked with a generic offending act. Flawed argument is flawed! Here's a parody.

1. Women should have the right to walk topless in public.
No, we should not. It astounds me that you can say exactly why that would be a problem and why your argument is flawed and not realize it.
"public"
Just because something is legal doesn't mean everybody does it
I don't see where you get off assuming people won't do it, which is the problem at hand, not "everybody".
hardly anybody is actually comfortable walking around topless
There's a reason for this. And it goes to say that many people would be uncomfortable seeing people walking around topless as a direct result.
(heck, I'm male and apart from beaches and nearby shops etc. I'm not comfortable walking around topless either)
Good for you, but males shouldn't be compared to females in this discussion. This is one of the cases where they should not be treated equal, as that would be ignorant of differences.
so it won't be much of a problem.
Huh? Wait what? How do you figure that??
However, just because one person isn't comfortable with it doesn't mean that it should be banned for everyone.
I assure you there are thousands of people not comfortable with this.
Oh hey guys, I'm uncomfortable with realistic violence in video games, let's ban it!
Example is done in private, not public. Poor comparison.
