  • Well, there's the shallow water in the Atlantic Ocean, Bermuda Triangle anbody? the middle of the town that's square, with 3 rocks. Then in some places the path's a bit square. that's all I meant by square. But why is there a lone little path Taking you to Imaginationland behind the abandoned house? And, another thing? WTF? No Space Center? D:

Basically the place is has harsh winds which blow the sand up onto the land.

And i'll just remove the goddarn trees to prevent anymore fuss.

If yuve seen any other square map, you'll soon realise that its not square and its about as far from beign square as possible. and when you say that paths are square in some places, you really think humans are going to walk in zigzags for hundreds of years so the path doesnt end up being square, thought not..

sorry for being agressive, but im really proud of this one..

okay i fixed the tile errors..

I don't think your map is square, but I do have some questions about it. First, is the beach meant to be inaccessible? Because there doesn't seem to be route from the city to the beach. Second, what's up with the three round rocks in shallow water on the left side of the map? Not only is shallow water unusual on land, the rocks are all in a row. Odd. Third, is there a purpose to the path on the right side that leads around the island? Because if not, you could remove it and make your map a lot smaller. Smaller is usually better, in my opinion.

1:Yes, its an accumulation of the sand the prevailing wind has deposited there.. Basically, Its geographically correct, rather than 'pokemon' correct.,
2:Once again its geographically correct, so if you live near a seaside there is bound to be water on the land that the tide and wind has deposited there.
the shallow water with rocks is because there wasnt a plain shallow water tile :3
3:Ive said this twice already, that the path was the original way way round before the middle path was introduced. I may remove the MIDDLE path though, to make it look more rural.

Okay, here's what I got to say. The style is very impressive of your map, but you made it so trainers are forced to walk in the grass. Sure, there's not a lot, but some trainers don't like to battle wild Pokemon. One forced patch is enough. Looks a lot like a 4, interesting style, I see a great place for an item, yeah- this map is great. Custom tileset it and you're good to go! Not much room for improvement.

That's surprisingly good for one week of experience. You haven't made any of the typical, dreadful mistakes! This is a good map. Though somewhat boring, it'll do as a Route 1. The flower placement is good, but I think two above the sign at the top may be too much.

By the way, the ledge at the bottom doesn't prevent players from walking around it, since the top two tiles of that pine tree should be passable. Add another tree if you want to seal it off.

Well, I'm glad my reccomendations agree with those of other commenters. ;)

It's a good map, but I agree with ninjacaterpie, the FR tiles clash with the custom ones.

I like it, nice tiles and palettes. But the flower placement annoys me for some reason. Try not putting them all in to 2x2 squares?

For some reason the tiles caught my attention.
The map is pretty nice. I can't see any errors but like the other person said. FR & LG tiles don't mix well with these tiles. 9/10

    Here's my map. It's named Route 505

Hmm, I see a tile error, but I guess that's okay. The wild-grass I'm not a big fan of also. But nice shape, and lovely tiles.

A simple route, probably Route 1.

Wow! Where can I find those tiles? (Seriously, PM me!)

Anyway, this map looks really good for a Route 1! The trees may not look exactly "natural" around the left end, but it's very good nonetheless! There's the oddity with the ledge in that it looks out of place, but it's very good! 9

Comments: This is a town with the first gym in my unnamed hack. I want criticism on this map, but don't be too harsh as I'm just a beginning mapper and just started mapping a week or so ago. Yeah and I know this is not a good map, but hey, this is what I posted it here for. Also, if you spot any tile errors, just tell me and I'll try my best to fix them.

Comments: I actually am trying to capture a very specific emotion, that I felt quite often when I was younger, with this map. You know when you've just been through a big dungeon, and you finally find a little relief in a game, whether it be a town or just resting spot, you don't actually want to keep going, or at least that's the way it is for me. I've never liked the fighting/dungeons in most games, so I always used to just want to stay in a town between caves/dungeons, wishing there was more to do there etc. In this map you come in through the top right cave, and come out to half of the city, before being forced to go through the other cave, to reach the rest of it.

This is my first city map ever, and I wanted to do something new/interesting, and combine it with a route/the mountains. Unfortunately, that made the actual city part more or less impossible. So, I really don't know if that part came out ok or not. I didn't bother doing anything with the water since you only see a very tiny bit of it... and I'd already spent 2 weeks or so on this map. It's also my biggest map to date.
