    THE COMMENTS

Set in the third timeline announced by Hyrule Historia in a twist where Zelda meets Pokémon, LoZ: Cofagrigus's Mask is merely a project started by myself and Aamelo on deviantArt for the fun of the concept. It is in rather early stages of development, and utilizes the Blizz-ABS system. I'm working on the storyline with another member of dA, GAOlivier, while Aamelo does the mapping.

    THE STORY

    Hyrule...
Through ages of suffering and despair, this noble kingdom has stood its ground firmly...

One evil rises, and so does one Hero...
One Hero falls... but so does one evil...

It has been so for longer than any of its inhabitants can remember...
Always in search of a singular power...

    The TRIFORCE.

    ****

Upon its defeat at the hands of the Hero of Hyrule, the Prince of Darkness was burned to ashes - only the blood of the Hero, once poured unto the beasts's charred remains, would revive the lord of evil.

Motivated by this cause, the remaining minions sought for the Hero to kill and retrieve his blood...
    But they failed once more.

With the Hero's acquisition of the final piece of the Triforce, the last of the minions used its ending breath to contain the ashes of its master in its body, sealing it away with the mask of a Yamask.

This last minion... was a Cofagrigus.

    ****

It is long and peaceful years after this act that the story begins anew; with the Triforce in the Royal Family's possession once more, it was thought to be safer if the wicked power was only to be used in times of greatest need.

Kept safe in the tallest tower of Hyrule Castle in a chest crafted by the most experienced of Hyrule craftsmen, the tales of heroes and evil slowly faded away into oblivion.

That is, until the faithful encounter of a young Riolu and his sovereign princess in the ruins of a great palace...

    THE ORIGINS

Otherwise known as Riolink, the hero lives in the abandoned Midoro Swamp, in the secluded Seeku Village. Mostly a community of Eevees, the village subsists of the Seedot Nuts found in the swamp north of the village, which has become harvesting tradition.

This year, it is the Hero's turn to collect these seeds, so that the village may have enough food for the approaching winter.
Upon arriving, however, the hero finds more than what he bargained for...

Finding it overrun by monsters, the Hero is forced to rid the swamps of its dangers to securely escort a mysterious girl in a cloak to the edge of the forest.

The screenshots look good by the way, I like the colours you're using for this game. Keep it up, and you'll be fine ;)

Ahah, thanks! Took a while to get the artwork done xD

Also, I've attached a poll to the topic regarding whether or not we should keep the crossover (some people have complained, so we might as well give them the choice, right?). Do vote if you can! :D

I love the screenshots and the crossover. I was always found of crossovers for some reason. I voted to keep the crossover.

Wel, crossovers are always a bit more enticing because they re something new most of the time :p

    But thanks! :D

  • WARNING! THE IMAGE IS EXTREMELY LARGE!

    Spoiler:

This is the North-western section of Hyrule; right now, it is almost a carbon-copy of the one from Zelda II, it was, however, modified largely in several parts, and will probably be modified even further later in the future.

This is to say, of course, that there are other areas to Hyrule: the eastern and southern areas, which are set apart from the north-western section by sea and mountains respectively. You may find them in the standard map artwork of Zelda II; but bare in mind we'll be making many modifications to this!

    Hyrule_AoL_1.gif

The southern section of Hyrule appeared in the first ever Zelda game, and we'll reuse it, since Zelda II didn't.

    Suggestions are welcome!
