    Generally, are you someone who prefers to download / buy / listen to an entire album, or do you prefer to download / buy / listen to the best songs on an album?

    I'm a song person. I have to really like the artist to buy the full album, and generally what happens with albums is that I'll get bored with half of it and enjoy the other half, so I quit listening to them and I feel like I wasted money or something, and it makes me feel bad.

    I only bother with tracks I happen across and like, rather than mulling over entire volumes from a given artist. Less waste of my time and of space, way I see it. I don't have an artistic appreciation for music; you know the sort of person whom will listen to an entire album from start to finish and extract some deep... thing from it... meaning? Anyway — I'm not that at all.

    I listen to albums rather than songs. Then again I organize all songs that I like in playlists so I guess songs as well? I don't really know.

    Individual songs all the way because albums aren't all 100% good and I'd rather avoid the songs that I don't like. If I'm downloading music then I'm certainly not wasting space by downloading the entire album, and I won't even buy an album unless I like all but one or two songs from it.

    Albums, definitely. They're a great way for enjoying sounds and appreciating music at a grander and larger scale. Sometimes albums can be repetitive, jarring and a little annoying, and sometimes they rock and make you want to listen to it a dozen more times. It's just part of discovering music. You try albums out and see if you like it.

    Personally, I really don't think I can take listening to just two or three of the same songs every minute of the day.

    What do you mean? 320KBps MP3s are pretty much as good as they come sound-wise.

    Using something like FLAC. MP3 provides lossy compression.

    On that note, if not FLAC, what format do you prefer, BonkersRider?

    It depends on the genre. If it's more of a fast-paced album I'm not gonna be bothered, but if there's a more reflective meaning and theme on the album in general I'll probably listen to the whole of that. But it's got to be really different from what I usually listen to.

    I think V0 sounds as good as 320, but with a smaller file size so that's good enough for me.

    I like having albums. Having only select songs would limit me. I wouldn't have the opportunity to realize that a song I initially didn't bother with is actually a really great song. Plus it's messy to organize.

    Admittedly, I don't often listen to albums straight through. I'm much more a shuffler.

    Since I can buy the mp3's from Amazon, If its only 1 or 2 songs I want I will now buy them (I will hear the song first on YouTube). If I like more than half the songs on the album I will buy the CD, unless buying the CD costs more than buying the individual songs.

    Oh yeah, I definitely go with the album. As I like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Who, etc. The songs need to be together to be properly enjoyed. With many albums(Dark Side of The Moon in particular) it just sounds weird without its following song.

    Like Cassino said, go with something like FLAC. All of the audio on my PC is either in 320 kbps MP3s or in FLAC.

    I buy all the albums because why not lol? I have 3 TB and have enough money so I'm pretty sure an extra 100MB and $7 wouldn't hurt.

    Really, i have no preference one way or another, it just depends on how much money I'm willing to throw down at that precise moment.

    btw I couldn't care less about compression. As long as it's above stuff like 64kbps (where you can clearly hear the fuzz) I'm fine with it. Though 256kbps is the general balance for me.

    I always get the albums. Probably because I listen to Kanye West and The Beatles mainly, whose albums need to be together or else the feel is lost.

    I tend to buy albums wholesale and then strip away the songs that I don't particularly care for. For the most part, this works out cheaper anyway as I'll normally only delete about one or two songs per album. Doing it this way allows me to uncover any album hidden gems that may not see the light of day as singles. So it's a win-win for me! :D

    I find myself never liking the entire album, sadly. :P So I never purchase it all. I give each song like a 30 sec play through if I don't like the vibe, I'll skip it. Admittedly, I do miss out on quite a few good songs this way and end up coming back to re-listen to the album.
