Thank you! You can call me whaterver you like - I just noticed that many people weren't using the same user name for the club as for the site, so I thought that was they way it worked :p. Anyway they are sort of the same thing - Orogenes means "mountain creation" and thus it follows than an "extension" of than nickname is the tallest of the mountains ;)

So, there was a press event in New York regarding details on the new Sonic Boom cartoon

The new designs for Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy have been revealed!

There will also be a GAME based on Sonic Boom. This game is the last of the 3 Nintendo Exclusives, and will be on WiiU and 3ds. The game is being made by BigRedButton Entertainment and Chris Senn, who was once involved with Sonic X-Treme will be involved in this new game.

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting such big news! The game footage does remind me of Ratchet and Clank, maybe even Sonic Heroes, so I'm excited for that. Design wise, they're all good except for Knuckles being so big now.

Sonic Boom cartoon! Hahaha. <3

and as long the Eggman we have is voiced by Mike, I'm good!

as long as Sonic is a cool blue dude that runs fast, I'm happy! 8D

Huh, apparently the Sonic Boom game on the WiiU is being built on the CryEngine 3

EDIT3:
Apparently Eggman is NOT going to be the Main Villain in Sonic Boom O_O
Also, the Sonic Boom Game is only the SECOND of the Sonic Nintendo Exclusives. SEGA just confirmed that Sonic Boom IS the 3rd and final game in the exclusive deal.

EDIT4:
The Sonic Boom game will have a focus on exploration, and there will be Co-Op! 2 characters in "most areas" and all 4 in bosses! Fun Fun, Fun, I wonder who the main villain will be this time. Also! The Sonic Boom game will be a PREQUEL to the cartoon.

Rafei, who previously worked on such landmark game franchises as "Crash Bandicoot" and "Jak and Daxter" at Naughty Dog, noted the most challenging aspect of taking on a "Sonic" game was illustrating the character's signature speed without sacrificing new gameplay elements. The other major issue? Figuring out just what the heck Sonic is allowed to wear.

"The clothing argument was a big one," said Rafei, leaning back in his chair in Big Red Button's conference room. "The most surreal moment in my life occurred when I was conveying with passion through a translator to the 'Sonic' team in Japan why Sonic needed to wear pants. Looking back at it, I'm glad they didn't go for it. Sonic wouldn't really be Sonic with pants on."

Source. Oh no no no, Sonic and pants would not work. I quite like the gear Tails is wearing now since it simply conveys his personality. Amy looks great and more mature.

I'm characterizing my current mood as "mildly skeptic" - I try to never judge a game/show/whatever until I have some personal experience with it; give it the benefit of the doubt. Apart from the eye models in the game (looking very clay like for lack of a better word) I have no real problems with the character designs, and a bit of experimentation is fine as long as it is well though through.

While I've enjoyed the recent Sonic games with a focus on Sonic and speed, a bit more "adventure" gameplay isn't all bad - I still play SA1 & 2 on my Dreamcast from time to time ;). What I'm hoping for is that Tails/Knuckles/Amy actually get some fun gameplay this time instead of the tiresome "go find the emeralds"/"hold down the button to shoot"/"run for your life" gimmicks from the past. I loved playing as Knuckles in the old 16-bit games; to access different parts of the level that Sonic couldn't reach, while not being forced into a totally different type of game while doing it.

In other words, as a sort of standalone experience, this could be interesting - Sega just has to make sure that the new gameplay mechanics are properly integrated into the game and not thrown in there like an afterthought.

I really like the direction of where the cartoon for Sonic Boom is going at least. For one I think the graphic and animation look really good for a television series. I also don't mind how everyone looks, well of course shrink Knuckles down a notch since he stands out way too much now, other than that I think it fits with their personalities. And hopefully Amy will actually be more than just some fan girl who wants Sonic 24-7 and end up getting caught all the time.

As for the game, more excited for the fact that you can play as someone other than Sonic and multiplayer. Both of those we haven't seen in like forever (since Sonic Adventure 2 I think?). It's taking the games to a whole different level which I am really interested in seeing. Let's just hope it turns out for the better.

Apparently, there will not be any Chaos Emeralds in the Sonic Boom universe. What do you think about this change?

Personally, I think it's refreshing. Allows for a much more... original take on the series.

There weren't any chaos emeralds in SatAm and that show was awesome, so I wouldn't worry to much about that particularity.

Not that much of an issue. This new cartoon/game is establishing its own universe; its own lore.

Oh yes! My son, 3,is a HUGE fan of sonic. We have netflix, so we watch the old sonic cartoons from the early 90 ' s and sonic underground from '98. We ALWAYS pretend to be characters from the cartoon. He is sonic, always and forever. (As I'm writing this,he is singing the theme song in the dentist office). He always pick me to be Tails and his mom is Eggman or Robotnik(depending on the toon we are watching at the time). Sometimes she is Amy or Sally(from underground) and sometimes I'm Manic(Also from underground).
We play like this all day everyday. Even if he is playing something else, we still have to stay in character. I love it.
We have also recently started watching Sonic x on netflix. That's a good one:)

I showed him the Sonic boom preview(incidentally this is also my son's favorite catch phrase so that's pretty Frickin awesome) and we both flipped for it. We can't wait! Although I see it's on cartoon network so I will have to find a good streaming site after it starts.

And HEEEEHEEEE that sounds totally adorable, showing your kid Sonic. I always love it when I come across a small child IRL and find out that love Sonic alot too! x3

And yeah, I'll be looking for a streaming site too, unless it's on my friend's On-Demand.

There are several people around my age that we know that always freak when he talks about sonic because sonic was so big when I was young and it's coming back around again.
You just can't keep a good hedgehog down I guess.
I was recently reading the trade corner daily chit chat and he saw the sonic in your sig, Bakingbluepotatoe, and he loved it.

He doesn't understand sometimes how I have sonic on my phone when I do Google searches for him to look through. It simply amazes him and he looks at me like I'm the coolest dad ever. Who knew all you needed was a Google search bar;) and tons of sonic pics.

Hehehehe, YEP! I got into Sonic from Sonic X when it was first coming out. Glad to see that after a DECADE a new cartoon is coming out, and bringing in more children to the fandom. I just hope the kiddies who come online for it aren't scared away by.... anything weird. You know what I mean. o.o
