Time for a new topic! Been almost a month since I added a new one.

Have you ever used one of the generation 2 legendary beasts, Raikou, Entei, or Suicine on your team?

What was the first Johto game you played?
I got Gold version for Christmas. My brother got Silver version. We didn't really get to decide who got which version. I was quite happy with getting Ho-oh either way. We each got our own Crystal version, though. It was very cool experiencing the same video game and trading with a playmate.

Have you ever used one of the generation 2 legendary beasts, Raikou, Entei, or Suicine on your team?
My friend gave me a shiny Suicune to use in one of my playthroughs of HeartGold. Also in Crystal, I temporarily used the Suicune through the Elite 4 despite starting with Totodile. I love Suicune though, and its Aurora Beam animation is mesmerizing.

The second generation was the only generation of games where both my brother and I got our own separate versions. Well, he kinda fell off the trend once we reached the third generation games, so I was alone from that point on, but still. I believe we did occasionally battle and trade, but he's never really been one who's like interaction with others within video games (quite the contrary to myself), so I don't have many good memories of really experiencing the games together with him D: Definitely wish we could've had a connection through that was more like the one with you and your brother. Sad your brother isn't into Pokemon anymore :(

Have you ever used one of the generation 2 legendary beasts, Raikou, Entei, or Suicine on your team?

I only ever actually caught Suicune, and I don't believe I ever really used it on my team. As I had a tendency of restarting my game often, I honestly didn't own it for long, and Lugia was the only Pokemon I ever consistently carried over through my games. That's also the only time I've ever had a Suicune actually, so kinda sad I never really got to make use of it D:

I used Suicune on my team too and it actually helped me quite a lot in defeating the E4. It was pretty decent defensively so I used it to tank a lot of hits while I healed up my main team, aha. I already had a water type on my team by the time I nabbed it each time I play so it was hard to fit it into my team but one time I decided to drop Kingler in favor of it.. good choice. ;P Hard to raise but very worth it!

Gold and Silver had two version exclusives catchable in route 45 - Teddiursa and Phanpy. Teddiursa was exclusive to Gold while Phanpy was exclusive to Silver. Which of the two did you prefer? Did you use any of them on your teams in G/S/C?

It's definitely Teddiursa. Honestly, I've never actually used a Phanpy, despite how awesome I think Donphan's design looks, whereas Ursaring has been a star on my team throughout multiple playthroughs. I owned Silver, so I didn't get to use a Teddiursa until quite a while later, when I was playing through a generation 2 hack, although I do believe you could still encounter Ursaring at the foot of Mt. Silver, so it's not like I completely missed them haha. But yeah, I have used Teddiursa/Ursaring on my team, though admittedly it's been on ROM version since it was after I lost my own version D:

1. What was the first Johto game you played? Silver
2. What is your favorite Johto Pokemon and why? Lugia, because I absolutely love his design and personality, along with his status as a guardian and his evasion/strengths as displayed in Pokemon 2000.

I have a feeling this is going to be my favorite club. Glad to be here! :)

As for Teddiursa vs Phanpy, I got Silver but I prefer Teddiursa. I've never used either one on my teams though.

Welcome, Dragon! I absolutely adore your avatar. ^_^

Teddiursa is way too cute. I can find countless of cute gifs and fanart of him but Ursaring is just.. ugh. I'd never be able to evolve mine. Donphan I can at least tolerate even if it isn't as cute. Tried using Phanpy at some point without evolving but it didn't end up going too well so I was forced to evolve.

Any of you guys ever used Sunkern/Sunflora? I always assumed it was fairly elusive but good grief it was awful in battle, haha.

Nope, never used Sunflora. :x I haven't used a lot of Johto Pokemon actually. Mostly just Espeon, Skarmory, Ampharos, Meganium, Noctowl, and a few others.

I've actually never used Skarmory personally.. it's always been really weak and hard to train for me, plus by the time I make it to Blackthorn I usually have a flyer. Might make room for it in my next playthrough.

Noctowl seems hard to train, too! A friend of mine complained a lot when she used it to the point where she boxed the thing. xD; What's your opinion of it in the games?

Noctowl is really good if you know how to use it. You have to teach it TMs though like Psychic and Shadow Ball for it to be good, and most people wouldn't want to use a one-use TM on him, so yeah. He can take non super effective special attacks like a tank but of course he's weak to any electric/rock attacks and the strong physical ones.

I believe he was impossible to use in the original GSC games though since damage hadn't been split into the two special stats yet and his other stats were bad.

As for Skarmory, he can tank physicals like a pro and makes good use of Fly and Steel Wing. He's a good waller on some types and steel in general is awesome against just about everything besides fire and fighting.

Two Johto Partner Pokemon: Bellossom & Blissey

1. What was the first Johto game you played?
Pokemon Silver. It was one of my most cherished games ever. Even though I don't play it anymore because I'm afraid of losing everything after the internal battery dies out again. Same with Gold but I still keep them for memories sake. My crystal still works fine though.

2. What is your favorite Johto Pokemon and why?
Too many. So many cuties and power houses in this gen. Bellossom is my all time favourite pokemon because she's so pretty and adorable. Blissey is another pokemon that I love. She's an epic special wall and she looks adorable. I loved her in Ignorance Is Blissey. I also really like Flaafy, the starters, the legends, togepi and furret. And also remember having a soft spot for Furret.

I'll be here tilll Christmas at this rate: They are all adorable and lovely. Can't believe I almost forgot two of the best eeveelutions.

3. When did you first start loving Johto?
When the games first came out. I didn't watch the anime as actively as I used to, but still loved the games.

4. If you could own one Johto Pokemon and one only, which one would you pick and why?
Bellossom because my team would feel empty without her. And I am unable to have Bellossom, I would pick Blissey because she would keep me happy.

5. Do you have any favorite fanart images of Johto Pokemon you like? Share them with us!

6. Which Johto Pokemon mega evolution is your favorite and why?
Mega-Tryanitaur is a beast. He really is amazing. Mega-Ampharos looks adorable. I haven't tried mega-heracross or mega-houndoom yet. I would really like more megas in the future. I would really be interested in Mega Blissey or Mega Bellossom.

Pokemon Silver. It was the first Pokemon game I ever played, so it holds a lot of nostalgic memories for me. It's the reason I got into Pokemon in the first place!

When did you first start loving Johto?
Well, one day I was browsing fanarts of video games (wasn't a big pokemon gamer/fan back then) and I stumbled across this one picture with Gold/Ethan and Silver/The rival, I thought it was neat, and continued to look through pokemon pictures. And thus started my obsession with pokemon. So, really, I've loved johto ever since I started liking pokemon, I guess you could even say it's the generation that got me into pokemon.

What was the first Johto game you played?
I feel bad for saying that my first johto game was SoulSilver, but alas, I cannot deny the truth. But, then again I got SoulSilver after X and Y came out... God that makes me feel even more awful xD

What is your favorite Johto Pokemon and why?
Quilava. Once upon a time, I was playing SoulSilver and was tired of getting my butt beat by Red for the 40th time, so I started a new game WITHOUT deleting the old save. (Wich I had to do a month later because it couldn't read the save) Bad, BAD idea. When I went to pick my starter, guess what? There was a shiny Cyndaquil. A. SHINY. FREAKING. CYNDAQUIL. I was so shocked and upset, but I picked it and played the game normally, eventually evolving my Cyndaquil (fittingly named OMG SHINY) into a quilava. But, I had to turn off the game at one point or another, so at the daycare, I said my final goodbye and shut my 3ds off. Worst. Shiny. Moment. Ever. I've been soft reseting for a shiny Cyndaquil ever since. No luck :(

Now if you excuse me, it's two in the morning and I need some sleep. Later! :)

But yeah, Dragon, I agree - that was my issue as I didn't want to use Psychic/Shadow Ball TMs on a Pokemon that isn't as useful as 'mons like Espeon and others. Noctowl would've had to prove itself to me first before I would consider that, but.. it can't really do so without the TMs. Haha.

Answer a topic!: The first Johto game I played was Crystal. I started with Cyndaquil, and to this day, I somehow still have not yet beaten the Elite Four. I don't know why.

Never beat the E4 in Crystal? You really should, especially since there's so much more to explore in G/S/C past that. I'm thinking of picking up a new GBA SP sometime so I can finally play my second gen games officially without ROMs. Feels much cooler that way~

Sheep, my Gold and Silver cartridges died, and I checked on Crystal that was still working during the Get-Together last year. It definitely feels cooler playing it while having it in your hands. That's also what I have the tablet for. ;D

Sorry to hear about having to lose the Shiny Cyndaquil. I would be quite elated just to share a moment like that. I was soft-resetting for one in Emerald after meeting the requirements, but it never quite happened. That was about a decade ago, wow. Recently, I was breeding for a shiny Cyndaquil in X/Y too. I stopped after about 30 eggs. I should pick up that project again!

And before I forget... My thoughts on the topic Who do you prefer, Phanpy or Teddiursa?
Phanpy is cuter to me. I raised one into a Donphan, but I've never trained a Teddiursa.

What was the first Johto game you played?

I started off young, I got Silver and Crystal together, just after Crystal had come out. I remember wanting to play Silver, but Crystal drew me in so much more. I started in Crystal with a Tododile who would eventually hit level 89 and gain the nickname "CoolDudtwo". I had Cooldude in my team already. I missed out on Suicune because I was a moron. I caught Lugia though!

Either way, the fun post-league content is definitely one of the reasons I love Gen II so much. It's just so good having a decent level of playing after you whip the league(whom I found much easier than the RBY E4, whom I've never beaten in the original Gen I games).
