I blame Super Smash Brothers for my Jigglypuff disorder. Damn Pokemon just wouldn't die.... *fires Boomerang*. In any case, the fact its been 14 seasons since we last saw the Balloon Pokemon means its not as popular as one might think(even if the alluring eyes are just there to lure you into a false sense of security before it sticks a knife into your back). Anyone think Jigglypuff will follow them back to Alola?

I never played super smash bros actually. I actually feel like Jigglypuff will follow them, it's a really big shot in the dark though.

True, though Ash has seen an Alolan Geodude before and made a comment about how they're different to other Geodude so not sure if that is as exciting as say being able to compare Brock's Graveler or Golem to an Alolan variant.

I think it's because Ash has seen it, but not all the classmates. Remember that sometimes the classmates are completely absent from an episode, which is what makes them very different from previous regional companions.

I would have like to see Misty with Kingdra along with Mega Gyarados. Horsea deserves better treatment.

*Channels inner-Cartman* "Go out and buy Super Smash Brothers, put it into your gaming console and join the rest of the gaming community before we all murder you." Adaptation from his line in the WoW Episode that still cracks me up to this day. Super Smash Brothers, be it the original, Brawl or any game in the series, is well worth the time and money. The first 2 Pokemon to ever appear in the game as playable characters were Pikachu and Jigglypuff and that pink Balloon Pokemon drove me nuts for its ability to keep coming back and not falling to its demise. I wouldn't be shocked if Jigglypuff comes back to Alola, either as a partner(hence it was caught) or as another comedy Pokemon.

Btw, here's a link to the Cartman scene: Cartman's WoW line

Lmao! Yeah I think I would do that because it's a game I always wanted to play often tbh. Just normally I've been used to owning the PS series of consoles as well. I'd be happy to see it in Alola also which would be some nice nostalgia.

Had the feeling that misty and brocks looks have to follow the art of SM instead of first generation of pokemon anime, but it's waywardly also seeing bulbasaur snugging up to ash after ash let oak took care of it for decade and seeing back it's just makes me say "aww", not sure about ash's muk though it's cute, but it make it feels like be puddled by sludgy waste I understand Muk also misses ash and cherish on it's own gunky way

Muk is one of Ash's Pokemon that's obsessed with him, similar to Bayleef. I'm really happy seeing him again. Kind of wanted to see Kingler also.

I wish Ash didn't had to go back to kanto. They should of just have misty and brock go to alola for a vacation or short visit. Kanto is overdone.

Personally, I'm glad that we're even getting to see Kanto again after all the wasted opportunities for the past revisit back in Battle Frontier, and I'm pretty sure we're going to get a lot more continuity nods there than back during that time in any case. As long as they deliver on that, I won't even care if it's overdone or not.

EDIT: Also, we've got some new footage. Namely, Ash managed to apparently enter free-fall into some wooded field:

Kanto is boring and should only be visited after ash has finished with alola. There is nothing worst than having an overused region shoved in our faces every time. It makes others not want kanto to ever return.

    Agree to disagree on this.

Shoved in our faces? The only time before now where he actually spent ANY significant amount of time in Kanto besides the Indigo League was in Battle Frontier. Most times, he spends an episode at most in the region, and even there only to drop off his Pok?mon. If anything Kanto is actually extremely underutilized considering we barely got very many references to his past trek in Kanto even when Ash actually travelled through that region again in Battle Frontier. And don't get me started on how in XY they outright neglected to give ANY references to past sagas, including especially Kanto. They didn't even reference Hoenn, and that was despite Generation 6 being the same region as the release of OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire.

If you don't like Kanto, fine, more power to you, but I strongly suggest that you don't claim that it's "overused" because quite frankly, it's not overused. We have far more likelihood of Pikachu and Ash being overused than Kanto, especially when in this anime series, unlike the games, they rarely even delve into continuity.

Why should we go back to a stale region? Kanto is unlovable. It should be saved until after alola. I don't think we need references in anime to prove anything but it is nice to have them to remind us of older regions ash went to. I think kanto has been overused and it is time for it to step down.

You know that Ash came from Kanto and thus that was his first region, right? If it had been Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, or even Alola that had been his first region, those regions would have gotten the focus instead.

And besides, if any region was overused, it was Sinnoh. I mean, come on! Movie 20 has several references to Sinnoh despite it never even being remotely hinted that there will be Gen IV remakes.

No. Sinnoh was used the right amount of times. Kanto was overused. However our opinions seem to clash and is getting us no where. I won't be thrilled with ash going back to kanto but feel free to be excited about you. I just don't think ash should back to kanto while in the middle of his current region but that is my opinion.

Keep in mind that they will go to Kanto for a class! It would be good for everyone to go in Kanto. First, Ash is from Kanto so it's great visiting back his hometown, and also the students will meet the Kanto Pokemon forms they never met. I'm super happy with this tbh

How exactly is it good for everyone? Even Trip hates kanto. Also there is no point going to kanto right now because he would return there at the end of alola. Going to kanto twice in one saga is too much. This is clearly kanto pandering again.

Right amount of times? Okay, then, tell me, why was it even remotely necessary for Sinnoh to be a highlight of Movie 20 to the extent that not only the OCs had Sinnoh Pok?mon, but one of them actually had some sort of relationship to Cynthia, the Sinnoh Champion in Platinum? There's no reason I can think of for them to even have Sinnoh references in a film that was supposed to be a retelling of Ash's first journey beyond shilling for it.

Anyways, as Kostas pointed out, even ignoring that Kanto is Ash's hometown and that this is the 20th anniversary, there's also the fact that Kanto is the only region that the Alolan forms have any equivalent, so even by going to Kanto, it still ultimately promotes Alola because the Alolan forms are the reason they're even going to Kanto in the first place. And quite frankly, as long as Misty's actually allowed to pursue her Water Pok?mon Master goal again after this rather than forced back into the gym yet again like with A Real Cleffa-Hanger and GCYL before that, I can care less about whether they're shilling for Kanto or not.

I said in my previous post that it's good for the students to meet the Kanto forms and learn more about them... They will also meet other Pokemon in Kanto and who knows? Maybe someone will catch one too. Also, I don't really understand what do you mean with Trip.

Everything has a reason. Sinnoh deserves time to shine more than kanto. I get that alolan forms are only versions of gen 1 but i really don't like the fact that ash is heading back to kanto in the middle of his current one.

Can't the students learn it from books on kanto pokemon in alola instead of going all the way to kanto. Trip hates kanto and those who come from kanto. It was mentioned in the anime.
