Here are my notes for warriors too:

Sainika-The warriors of the world, these serve to protect cities and towns. Sainikas are further divided into the weapons they can wield best--talavaras (swordsmen/women), balas (spearmen/women), and danusas (archers) are some of the more common sainika types.

Here's my notes for mages:

Jani-The magic users of the world, magic users serve a variety of purposes--some fight alongside sainika, some dedicate their lives to studying magic, some use their magic to defeat monsters and help others, and still others use their magic for entertainment. Jani are divided into several types as well depending on what magic they wield--ranke (those that use magic for offensive purposes, such as fire, ice, or lightning) nileki (those that use magic for healing and defensive purposes), and bulane (those that call on mystical spirits and holy beings) are a few common types of jani

Okay--that sounds decent enough

This is assuming lightning is part of wind, and ice is part of water?

We need to think up a type chart, if you will

Bear in mind you can't die from strength drain, but you CAN exhaust yourself to the point of dying

There's one idea, plus transforming too often drains your strength

I'll keep that in mind, but remember every magic system needs realistic limits and/or risks

What I'm going to do is brainstorm magical styles, and research African and Indian lore for monster ideas (this is a fantasy world, after all.) What I want you to do is research the geography and culture of India and sub-saharan Africa--this will help us iron out details of the culture.

We can share our research over PM, okay?

We still have a lot more to do--we want our world to feel like a real place

That's a good start--once you have magic power, how does it work? Are certain creatures tied to certain elements (eg. a aquatic creature gives you water spells), a winged creature gives you wind spells, etc.)

Well, that's one thing we need to figure out

Cool ^^ i might post my new fanfic on PC :) it's a really sad one though... A died girl tells about her love story before she died and how exactly she died, kind of like the movie "lovely bones" though, that movie wasn't my inspiration to this ^^
