A class 5 pathogen that emerged from porcine animals residing in the main portion of Central America, currently affecting many people in localized areas in the United States and elsewhere. Controversy over its name has led to the criminalization of the porcine race and the subsequent slaughter of their kind. As such, its name has been changed recently to H1N1, owing to its ties to the more widely-known influenza. Note however, that many misconceptions still exist, such as the increased danger of hamthrax over normal influenza. Hamthrax can be easily treated with certain antivirals.
