Seconding PhantomDraco. I love Pokemon Ranger (and SoA) for their simplicity, really. And I love the graphics. :) I've played PMD Red Rescue Team and found it fun as well, but it can be a little repetitive.

My Charmander on FR is female. :) Well, Charizard now obviously. Other than that no other female starters that I can remember, though I think I possibly had a female Cyndaquil once when I played through Gold (both my Gold and Crystal versions are dead now though :().

I feel very contrary saying that I didn't find FR/LG elite four much of a problem. :/ I actually found the elite four for R/S/E difficult. Possibly because my pokemon were rather underleveled, so it felt like a slog when I was leveling them up in Victory Road.

I went for the Budew family. I enjoyed using them in my Diamond version, and budew is so cute :) I like the Oddish family quite a lot too though.

Hard choice, because I like them both a lot, but I picked Ho-Oh. I had Pokemon Gold, and I'm planning on getting HG when it comes out - I just feel more loyal to it I guess. I really like fire types as well. :) Lugia is a close second, though.

Never actively tried to give up Pokemon, no. I naturally just go through phases of being really interested in it, and then not. Usually when I'm not interested in playing it I'm more interested in playing I dunno, Zelda or something. I go through phases of obsessions for different franchises :P
