    Friends who are online have an increased shiny rate in their safaris. This has been tested by a few on smogon and the tumblr pokemon fandom.

    I think of chain fishing as the same as regular fishing. Any fisherman will tell you 1/50 of the fish they catch have some oddity about their appearance. I think it was simply a homage to that.
