Okay... and I don't need specifics, just a general idea of how early/late in the game you get it. Like how many badges you have when you receive it... if you've already gotten seven badges by the time the fossil - or the Thunderstone for that matter - shows up, it's probably too late in the game for me to make them part of my team... in which case Ampharos is my backup plan. Oh, and what emulator do you use? I tried a DS emulator back with the Japanese Platinum, but it wouldn't play it and kept giving me error messages... And are there any special options you have to set up to make games playable?

Hmmm... Dragons are actually supposed to be strong against water, unless it's a Dragon-Ground combo like Garchomp or Flygon... but sometimes I do have some luck with Electrics against the likes of Dragonite and Salamence since they're part Flying... But in White I think I actually equipped Archen with Dragon Claw and went at Iris that way, since Ice Beam was postgame and I didn't have a choice :P HEY! I thought you said your username was Laplace Transform inspired :P Anyway, my user name isn't based of a Pokemon at all xD

That idea would be awesome... I could take Leaf, dress her up in a frilly floral print dress and white tights, and BOOM! I'd have my character Lisa! Heck, if I could dress the guys in a tuxedo, top hat, and monocle, it might even make them look decent.

I'm hoping the title screen isn't like that animated trailer... I would hope that if you play as a girl, it shows the girl on it xD I would have no idea what happened with the town map, but sadly I don't think they added in any six-lane Interstate highways that you could cruise in your V-8 powered luxury sedan... Speaking of Interstate highways...

Route 20? Doesn't that cut west to east through Columbia, South Carolina? Does that mean Columbia, South Carolina is in the game? I hope so, I attended an awesome anime con there back in April :P

Wonderful... looks like they still make you help out random people for no particular reason... And why can't rivals be evil? I'd sell my soul for a Pokemon game where your rival turns out to be a top leader in the crime syndicate...

Medals? I have no clue, but it's probably something they added on to make things needlessly complex. The Pokemon games lately have had a bad habit of adding too much extra stuff that doesn't fit in the main story at all and makes things seem tacked on and disorganized.

Don't worry, it's not like I would've gone there anyway - didn't visit it at all in B/W. And since my chances of getting the game are dwindling, spoilers might be the closest thing I ever get to playing it. You-know-who's presence is simply weighing too heavily on my mind... even if he does only show up in one of those needlessly complex and tacked on parts of the game...

Well, just let me know when in the game you're presented with a choice of two fossils.. chances are it'll be Archen and Tirtouga or whatever that other one's called (I'm bad with remembering B/W Pokemon, does it show? xD) So you can choose one and if it's the Tirtouga or whatever then Archen's probably the other one :P Would the Thunderstone be a problem, or is it translated when you pick up items?

One thing's keeping me from picking up Lapras... Samurott's going to be my Water type and I don't believe in ditching the starter... He'll be my Ice Beamer xD

Yeah, it's him, unfortunately. This is the second time they've done this to her and put in that idiot instead. I mean, what do the developers have against her? And why would they give someone who's supposed to be a "final" challenge an unevolved Pokemon? That has baffled me since the days of G/S. I probably wouldn't hate the guy as much if he at least demonstrated that much common sense.

I'm getting fed up with the developers making stupid decisions like not including Leaf when they put him in the game - it's completely unjustified and unfair. If they include one, they should include both. On the plus side, that (at least the HG/SS outrage) is what influenced my story that I'm writing... problem is, now I have to change the ending to reflect him showing up in B2/W2...

And seeing Leaf with an animated battle sprite would be cool... too bad it'll apparently never come to pass. If it's any solace, at least that means she won't be defeated in the game and keeps her perfect battle record :P

Well, I never call anybody by their Japanese name anyway, though that name still seems totally weird. I actaully read that Iris has a varied team and not just dragons this time I seem to remember reading she even has a Lapras so you coundn't Ice Beam her entire team.... And hey, anybody would be better than that guy...

I think that was a stupid decision as well. So where are his Pokemon from those years ago? In storage? In rehab? The world wants to know! Eh, I never bother with the default names anyway... I always name my characters what I want to :P Usually "Lisa" or "Ashley." BTW, Leaf in my LG game is named Lisa.

Although, I might not be getting the games at all... turns out my most hated character will be rearing his ugly head in the world tournament thingy... And my conscience is bothering me... do I play another Pokemon game where HE shows up and Leaf gets the shaft yet AGAIN?

Terrible pun, and it's not even related to her type specialty, just her occupation. And isn't "Roxie" short for "Roxanne" who's a Hoenn Gym Leader? Way too similar, kinda like with "Archer" in HG/SS and "Archie" in R/S/E...

Actually, I don't care about who the mascot is for the games... it could be Bernie Madoff for all I care xD Well, if Trapinch is version exclusive, I'll go with that; otherwise it will be whatever version Beldum's found in... Whatever legendary happens to be in my game, it'll do nothing but collect dust xD

Hmmm... that is kinda weird... and the doctors can't figure it out? I had the thing where eyes wouldn't open only once. Granted, we were on vacation when it happened and it's usually pretty humid there, but we've been back to that same place dozens of times since and it's not happened again.

I dunno, I'm more of the type who likes to have my Electric-types Special based... because of Thunderbolt. However it (and Liepard) might be options simply because apparently you can find them VERY early on in the game... there's actually supposed to be a pretty big selection of Pokemon on those first two or three routes. I need to find out when you find Eevee and a Thunderstone so I can make the all important decision on who my Electric type will be. I have a feeling I'll still be choosing Jolteon over Ampharos unless either of the two things I need for Jolteon are found very late in the game.

I'm probably just going to go with one Electric type, either Jolteon or Eelektross. There's only an outside chance I'll use Ampharos... I tried one in SS and it was just too slow and Ice/Fire Punch aren't so great on it anymore now that both attacks are physical now. I'm hoping that the B/W fossils return because Archeops fulfilled its role well as my Pokemon that flew me places. Other than that, it's still debating between the two cat Pokemon and between Metagross and a Ground-type...

Yeah, I know but if you want to you could post your thoughts on what you just read... I like getting posts in my story threads and it'll be awhile before the next chapter comes out :P

Jolteom may be my Electric type. Metagross is undecided as far as if it's going to be on my team. Those are the only two really good ones so far IMO.

Still not terribly impressed by that list, and it looks like I'm going to have a difficult time building a good team in the game, unless somehow miraculously some decent Pokemon are announced. As I said the cat Pokemon selection is especially lacking:/ Honestly, I usually just have my Water type with Ice Beam and let it take care of anything that requires ice :) But I can't plan anything for sure till I know everyone who's going to be included.

I think I had an incident a number of years ago when my eyes wouldn't open for at least an hour after I woke up... it lasted for three days I think.

Alright, Metagross might be a posible candidate for my "wild card" slot on my team. I actually used an Eelektross in White... I did appreciate it having no weaknesses, but finding one with a good nature was hard as heck and then there's its low Speed. However, having an Electric type armed with Flamethrower was admittedly cool, and I might end up training one again instead of Jolteon.

I just choose Oshawott because it's the starter I'm most comfortable using, lol. I'm bad with Grass types unless I get them after I have a few other Pokemon already on my team, and no thank you to another Fighting/Fire type starter. I actually don't think too much about the rivals in Pokemon games... my duty is to knock their Pokemon senseless xD

Holy crap, that sounds pretty serious...Yeah, you should definitely take it easy... I've had allergy attacks like that when I was younger, and I didn't feel like doing anything till I got better...

I used Delcatty in Sapphire/Emerald simply because it was the only cat Pokemon in the game. Its attack power was simply horrible. It's a wonder I stuck with it for as long as I did...

How early is Beldum found? Metagross is one of my power hitters on my team that I'd use for wi-fi, and it could probably take the role of Ground attacker once I give it Earthquake. Two Pokemon I'd really like to show up (but haven't so far)? Persian and Flygon, also staples on my wi-fi team.

If I get Eevee, it's most likely going to be Jolteon. It ain't attractive but its stats are excellent. It'll probably be my Electric-type. I never really did like the other Eevee forms. Right now I'm thinking my team will be Samurott, Archeops, Jolteon, some cat type (right now either Delcatty or Liepard), some Ground type, the #6 will be a wild card, just based on Unova-specific Pokemon and what's been announced so far.

I personally wouldn't buy a RSE remake. Hoenn was pretty awful as regions go. All those annoying water routes made me think that (a) Archie had already awoken Kyogre and flooded half the place before the game even started, and (b) maybe Maxie wasn't so crazy after all. And some of the towns were just... weird. Tree house city? Town floating in the sea? Bizarre. I just felt it was a major pain trying to play through that region, then ending up having my Electrode 8 levels ahead of everyone else because of the water. The game I would like to see remade? XD Gale of Darkness, complete with the option to play as a girl.

As for May, she looked decent in R/S (though I didn't care for her Emerald look)... not as good as Leaf or Dawn, but probably tied with Kris. She should stick around, but frankly, if they wanted to replace her with a girl in a cute Sunday dress I wouldn't complain (and I might actually be compelled to buy the remakes xD) I've always wanted Pokemon protagonists with more "formal" looks... girls with nice frilly dresses, guys with business suits or tuxedos, that type of thing xD

Well, at this point it would be the fifth game xD But yeah, I doubt we'd be seeing it. And I think I would've liked Platinum Dawn a bit better if they showed the bottom of her skirt below her coat, and maybe give her black tights as well.

That looks pretty good. But as much as I like Persian, I like Leaf (and the 1996 Buick Roadmaster) even more xD

Hey, haven't heard from you fore a few days! So, what's been up lately? How are you doing?

Well, I'm kinda mad now... they finally announced a cat Pokemon for B2/W2... and it's Skitty/Delcatty. Of course they would throw in my least favorite of the cat families into it... it was so hard for me to use in Sapphire :/

Well, I think he's supposed to, but in what role is still unknown. Ghetsis is also supposed to be coming back, and I'm thinking he'll be evil. Well, I'm definitely going to play as the girl, as I have since Crystal, even if she's far from the perfection that Leaf was. I personally don't like the guy's hair and why don't they give the guys decent outfits - a business suit or tuxedo would be nice.

My main game is gonna remain Platinum. Dusknoir might be a possibility for my team, but other than that... Growlithe/Arcanine are actually my second most disliked Pokemon family, because I have had some very bad IRL experience with dogs and I just don't like them (being allergic certainly doesn't help matters either). Plus I think they're ugly as far as Pokemon go xD I'm definitely a cat person (despite the allergies) because they aren't mean to me lol

As for the version legendaries... no opinion, since I don't use them and just stuff them into the PC box and let them sit. Heck, I still don't know which one is Reshiram and which one is Zekrom without looking them up... I'm so out of touch with 5th gen it's not even funny. Probably because I found B/W to be underwhelming...

Yeah, he's never gone on wi-fi (we don't have the setup at home; I only was on b/c I was in college) and he'd rather battle CPU opponents anyway. But with his amount of hacking, that's probably a good thing. I don't know much about B2/W2 or who's gonna be in what version. Once I do find out, it could be the deciding factor as to what version I get, if I do at all (I'm still undecided). I still haven't seen any old Pokemon announced for the new games that I would actually want to train... except for Jolteon since the B/W electric types aren't all that good:/ I want to see Persian family. And Flygon family. Neither have been announced but if both showed up that would make my day :P

Hmmm... I'm not sure it'll save even on the GBC then... the battery issue would be connected with the cartridge, not the system you play it on.

It's tough for me since I live in the middle of nowhere (parents' choice, unfortunately). It's why I started college right after graduating HS, so I could get away (like, 900 miles away xD) Yet, here I am back again :/ LOL, I only have Crystal and LG on emulators, but I do have a hacked team in the latter. I wouldn't take a hacked team online, and I don't think my brother knows how to battle obline xD

I found the best way to get good, legit trades is to go to the wi-fi trading section of the forums and look for people there. There's a pretty strict "no-hacked" policy IIRC

I've actually never battled my brother. I remember he was hacking back in the days of Ruby :/ My first game was Blue, and I honestly don't remember having too much difficulty with anyone. All I know is that my Blue version doesn't save anymore (my brother found it and tried to play through it) and I don't know where my Silver or Crystal are. Heck, my Sapphire and Emerald are missing too... I think LG is the oldest Pokemon game that I have that I know still works.

I think GBC games could be played in the "original" GBA, IIRC.

My brother has over 200 hacked Pokemon... says he wants to do each final stage Pokemon. I can't battle him because of that. Everything he has is hacked, and he'll even play through games by giving himself Lv 5 hacked Pokemon with perfect stats :/ It's just a good thing he's never been on wi-fi and just uses them for Battle Frontier and Battle Revolution. It's quite frustrating that I have another Pokemon player in my own house and I can't battle him because he likes to hack...

Ok, I'll add yours once I get the chance (meaning when I can pull myself away from LG and my character's cute sprite :) ) That's good to hear your save data is still there... I would've freaked if mine got erased. Hmmm... I wonder how long the memories of DS cartridges last?

I haven't been on the GTS in years, pretty much for those exact reasons. I did find one pretty deal (I traded some legendary which I can't remember now for a shiny Gastly) but for the most part "normal" deals were hard to come by even back in 2008/2009. Honestly, the only reason I messed around on the GTS in the first place was to get more ID numbers for the Jubilife TV lottery. And soon that became more frustrating than it was worth.

As for Lv 9 and under legendaries, the only ones that would fit that bill would be hacked. I do recall that you get more results on the GTS if you offer a Pokemon up for trade, so maybe they're posting (legally) impossible trades for that reason. Either that or there's a whole lot of AR hacking going on over there...

So, have you been doing well? It suddenly got a lot warmer here than it has been all week... which is kinda bad since we don't have air conditioning :/

I agree with that. Kris was the original female playable trainer, and I have no idea why they didn't keep her for HG/SS... along with the disappearance of Leaf, that's one of the biggest mysteries surrounding those games :P

The others look overdone IMO... the only thing that saves the B2/W2 girl is that I happen to like the look of tights/leggings :P Other than that, she's pretty meh.

Actually, I think I can battle with any of the 4th gen games, so if your Platinum doesn't have save data, we can always battle with my Platinum and your HG/SS. Of course, I have no idea when such a time will come, but maybe someday :)

I hope game files don't delete themselves - practically my entire Poke-life is on my Platinum game. My main battling Pokemon, my old wi-fi Pal Pad contacts, a full Pokedex, Battle Frontier records, Contest victories... if I lose that data I probably really will quit Pokemon...

It's weird though... I liked Dawn's design better in D/P but preferred the gameplay in Platinum. Of course Leaf is still cuter :) I even based my own trainer Lisa after her (as you can see in my sig).
