Penelope's twin sister is named Theodora, Theo for short. Theo is blind and gets sick very easily. She has been basically locked up in her own home because of her helplessness. Because of her weak and blind body, she is very undesired by suitors, so her father instead pushes the troubles of marriage onto Penelope instead.
Penelope fears a life without freedom, seeing marriage as just another way to keep her life barren like her sister's. She fell for the Rebel leader, who in turn took a liking to her spirit and the two are conspiring to overthrow her father. Unfortunately, she has also been found out by the Jester: A strange man, dressed as a very elaborate Harlequin. He uses his knowledge of her treachery, as well as his secondary position as the Dragon King's most trusted advisor, as leverage to keep Penelope under his thumb. This keeps her in a tight spot as she must work between keeping her freedom in the castle, while at the same time, supporting the Rebellion.
The Rebel leader is the son of a Rancher, who took up station in the capital selling his father's products. He is 25 and is quite good with a broad sword and a bow. He is a communist who rejects the idea of a monarchy ruling over it subjects. Over time he gathered followers until they have become very dangerous people to the King. The rebel leader's name is Jake.
Jake's right hand, aside from Penelope, is Iron. a Mute Woman who works as a Blacksmith under her father, who also supports the Rebellion. She doesn't think of Jake as anything but as a friend, and tends to use a whistle-like tool to communicate in a kind of morse code. She fights alongside Jake using a suit of robot armor she created, having studied in the Thunder Kingdom, center of Engineering for the entire continent.
