I agree that it has the potential to be a force to be reckoned with as it is, but I hardly ever see them used competitively (maybe it's just me), even though they are extremely common in the wild. So, as you mentioned, making it a Dark-type would definitely give it a boost to its Sucker Punch...

Although I would like to see popular (and rather powerful) Pokemon like Metagross, Skarmory, Milotic, Flygon, Salamence, and a few others I can't think of at the moment get their own Megas, I would also like to see somewhat weaker Pokemon get them too, just so it will level the playing field...

I think that some Mega Evolutions they should come out with should include Dragonite, Metagross, Skarmory, Lapras, Dusknoir, Rapidash, Slowking, Salamence, Luxray, Druddigon, Hydreigon, and pretty much all starters from every generation lol.
