  • Oh, that's good! I didn't mind having a set group of starters to choose from, but I rather like having a choice. Slowpoke might be mine, I think, or Teddiursa...

    Or Snubbull.
    Or Combee.
    Or Clefa.
    Or Meowth.
    Or Spoink.

There are so many adorable Pokémon to choose. >.>

Also, if there is a leveling system, I assume that Pokémon will learn the moves as they level up, yes? Will they be restricted to the traditional four moves or will we have more choice?
    I do fabulous best!

Oh, I see. Well, if you happen to have Slowpoke or Teddiursa as a starter, I wouldn't complain even slightly. Not. Even. Slightly.

Exactly. Not every route has to be trekked through by everyone. On the map I made for example there is indeed a water path linking the rock and water islands together, but they might miss it entirely if they want to head up to the electric island and then back around to the rock one.
    It's *fabulous*.

Munchlax seems fairly sensible. And Pineco! We need to fill the forests with dozens of them.
Because Deino eat so much honey? They seem far more suitable for the endless, shadowy forests of the dark-type island.

Exactly! I've moved Drymos in place of the grass island, and put the grass island in place of where Drymos used to be. It should be more suitable now. Plus, giving the main island several routes and slowly opening them up as the story goes along means that people don't have to spend ages writing about how their characters trekked all the way back the way they came. They can just hop over a newly opened shortcut.
France is just fancy enough for it to work. <3

That'd be so unbelievably adorable! Munchlax would also make sense. Speaking of Pokémon on island that aren't their type, I imagine Caterpie or something could be found on the bird island. They need something to eat, after all.

Maybe it could be much the same as the original map, although I swap Drymos and the grass island around so that Drymos is right by Kentrik. It can keep its different routes, but the players are told that the other routes are blocked until they get enough badges so the only route to go is to Drymos?

I only left because of technical issues! You did fine, darling.
Exactly. They both got their chances to shine! I hope that Fairy would too (the new type is even more of a reason to get the endlessly adorable Mawile).

    ...I think I will.

Teddiursa is adorable. I love it to pieces, and I think I'll keep it as a Teddiursa until my team needs some serious firepower. Considering the bug-type island contains Combee, which produce honey, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they lived on Drymos. :3

I'll move it somewhere else then! I think I might have an idea what to do. Do you want the insect island to be the first island for /everyone/?

I'm fine waiting. I don't want to force you to rush anything. I'm just quite excited, t'is all. I miss the roleplay.

Maybe man-made was the wrong word... but it doesn't look quite natural. As you said, it's bizarre. There's clearly been something messing around with the island's layout.
Sorry. x) I just rather hope that the new rumoured type, Fairy, is a late game gym, assuming it's going to be added in.

    Playing what-now? O.o

Stantler and Teddiursa have always been personal favourites of mine, and Slowbro's a recent obsession. I just find that starting team rather appealing... if Drymos was meant to be an early-game thing, do you want me to move it to somewhere more accessible?

Yeah, I suppose you have a point there. I forgot you didn't have access to a decent computer. Oh well, whenever you feel up for it is good for me!

I'm sure I can come up with something to make it interesting. ^.^ Maybe some terrain features that look oddly man-made?
Yes, water's a little boring now. We've had plenty of water gyms (one in each generation, in fact). I guess I'll do the rematches, yes.

But it's okay with Jolteon, because it already has a terrible moveset. ;D I just looked up Onix and it does have a really bizarre movetset change. It all makes sense, but it's such a massive snake.

    Although not set in stone;
Stantler, Slowbro, and Ursaring so far. Tempted to try and get Yanmega too.

    Honestly? I think you'll be waiting a while. That's all the way in October, and I can't wait that long. D;

Also, not sure how to make the psychic type island interesting. Any suggestions?
    You're welcome. <3

Roxie's fun. It's a shame she's an early gym leader, since I enjoy Poison and I loved Koga's gym. I would have liked to have seen her with some tougher Pokémon. I fought her with a Magby and a Magnemite. :3

They did modify the moves, similar to what they did in Yellow and Platinum. Seems like they do it a lot in the third edition of a game.

Onix is quite serpentine though, so he's fairly dragon-like.

Speaking of which, I've already been planning out a team for the remake of LIL. ^_^
Daww. You're still a newbie to me. <3

They're good games. I love how they added so many more Pokémon to the region from previous generations. It's also the first time I've tried a new tactic, which is swapping out Pokémon every so often so I can try new ones, rather than just running with the same six for the whole game. I'm even using Escavalier, a Pokémon I never even considered using before.

I want him to learn dragon-breath, honestly.
Yeah. That was the main way of finding out which island was which, but it was still a bit of a pain to understand. ^_^

    I refuse to play it. D: I still haven't finished Black 2.

Magmar are based on the karura, which is essentially a fire-breathing duck man that slays dragons.
Yep! I found that in the OOC for LIL we had to kind of guess which island was which depending on the features and terrain rather than having anything telling us which was which. It think it'd be worth specifying the different islands this time.

    I am. c:

I've not played any of the R&C games. I just remember playing through Yellow with a Golduck and a Magmar for the sole reason that they were both ducks.
I'll add in numbers and then make a key, saying what number is what island. You can always tell me to change them around if you think something is better suited somewhere else.

Just added in the flying island. Time to do ice and then I just have fighting, ghost, psychic and normal.

    Everyone loves a flaming duck.
Yes, I was. x) I admit I took some liberties with a few of them, but I tried to keep the significant landmarks as close as I could. The electric area for example has two mountain ranges, as the original one had, the ground area is once again a massive desert.

It does. I put a little green dot between the entrance to the volcano and the settlement with the gym inside of it. I imagine they would be volcanic tunnels, filled to the brim with Slugma and Camerupt!

I can see why it would appeal to people, but I don't know, I've never felt compelled to watch it. It just didn't seem like my cup of tea, I suppose. Far too much potential for nothing but teenage angst. ^_^
No, I mean, I'll just change that central island from being normal-type to being typeless and then make that area Kentrik. It's right in the centre of everything, so it'd be a good starting point, I think.

That's how it was in LIL at least. I've made it that way, but tell me if you want me to change it.

I know of them, but I never bothered to watch Glee. I just know of them. I never really felt compelled to watch it I suppose, but I've seen bits and pieces. Use it anyway. ;D
Oh. I forgot about Kentrik! I think we could repurpose the normal-type island as Kentrik, since it's a fairly neutral island as it is. I can add in another normal type island.

It did have one before. I double checked the thread. Apparently the gym was within the volcano.

It's good enough for me. ;D I don't think it's too sexual. It's just a kiss, after all. Ask a mod.
Maybe completely industrialised was the wrong word. Either way, it is probably one of the largest cities on any of the islands.

I take it you still want a volcano on the fire island?
Fiiiine. ;p I just rather liked the idea of it being like a giant pier. Either way, I imagine this island would be almost completely converted into an industrial powerhouse of a city. Plenty of skyscrapers and factories.
It tells me what I need to know. It's perfect.

Let me know if you come up with any other landmarks. I'll add them in.

If you look at the map I made, you'll see that the gold location near the steel area doesn't actually have any land on it. I had imagined it being a lot like a city on a pier, with massive numbers of factories, docks and all sorts. It probably has the largest population of any of the cities, solely because it's so high-tech.
    Tell me!

Just let me know if any landmarks are incredibly significant. I'll make sure to add them... That goes for any changes, actually. I'm bound to make a few mistakes.

Exactly. I like to think I did my best though. The steel area is composed of a series of rocky cliffs jutting out of the ocean, which is always fun. Originally I had just thought to use a mountain, but we already have plenty like that. I imagine it would be the location of a significant number of mines considering the large metal deposits.
Yeah, I'll definitely label them once I'm finished. So far we have electricity, dragon, steel, rock, water, ground, dark, normal, grass and bug, going from left to right and progressively going down.

And yes, I haven't been completely ignoring the original descriptions. The tree on the bug island, for example, is quite obviously the god tree from the original roleplay.

Some of the types might look similar to the others, but that's to be expecting. I'm thinking I'll make a swamp next, for poison. :3
