I guess that I should rephrase that. It's still stooped in the RPG formula. Instead it has a few systems that I don't think would work in RPG maker, and I don't have enough money for it at the moment. So there's that too... Foremost is the way that Weapons work in this game. While most of the characters have weapons that work like normal, but the protagonist has a wepon called the Shadowreaver, which has a different system where it can be upgraded and customized, and it levels up like the main character. In addition it has it's own skill tree. That said all the characters have a customizable skill tree with 60 abilities and each level that they gain they gain a skill point that they can use to customize their stats or gain a new skill. While I don't think that either of these things are particularly difficult to make, I don't think that I could implement them in RPG maker.
Then again maybe it's more flexible then I'm giving it credit for. But it still isn't available to me at the moment.
