Bubblebeam. It's nothing special but Empoleon is my favourite Pokémon and it was one of my favourite moves to use back when mine was a Piplup.

Before wi-fi battling came a long, I never bothered training them up to 100, I usually finished the game with my whole team at level 70-80 or something. My first level 100 was Empoleon in Platinum.

Gardenia, since I chose Piplup as my starter and my Starly was still pretty weak. Magical Leaf was such a pain.

I too will be surprised if Ash doesn't get Froakie. I'm really looking forward to learning more about Ash's pre-Pikachu life.
