Thank you for all of the suggestions! I'll check them out :) My favorite games were definitely Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. Crystal was my first love and not far behind. Stadium 2, Colosseum and Gale of Darkness all were super important to me as well, but nothing matches my soft spot for the Hoenn region.

What's funny about this idea specifically is that Growlithe IS on the first several routes of the game if FireRed is inserted in the GBA slot. Vulpix is mid-game if you do it with LeafGreen. Sadly that doesn't work until after the Elite Four has been beaten.
