Haha, me too! Winter Break is fast approaching, so I'm sure we can play then.
Also, about that compliment: it wasn't just out of courtesy, it was honest feedback. If I complimented you only out of pity, then I wouldn't be helping you. xP
WARNING: Giant tl;dr up ahead! Feel free to ignore it though; I won't be upset. xD
Okay, so you've got your basic tech skill down, which is good. However, tech skill only makes up half of Smash Bros. The other half is made up of reading your opponent, and playing against them accordingly. When playing against a human player, you should always keep two questions in mind:
1. What is his/her objective?
2. What are their key moves? (In other words, what moves do they want to land on you?)
Once you find out the answer to both of those questions, you should find a way to play around those pesky moves. A great example was my dash attack. As you may recall, I often waited for you to use risky moves like your grab, or your dive bomb, and then I slammed you with a hard hitting dash attack. That, my friend, is called "punishment." Of course, getting punished is the only way to learn from your mistakes. After getting hit by a couple dash attacks, you should start expecting it. So, what do you do now? You need to somehow bait out that dash attack. As Link, my dash attack is laggy as heck, so if I miss it, you would have no trouble punishing me. That said, you should save your key moves for punishing, that way, it would come out as a surprise. You tended to grab a lot, but as Toon Link (and especially Link), you should NEVER grab, unless:
A. You're grabbing out of your own shield to punish, or
B. You have a setup that can lead into your grab, such as pressing A twice for a double jab.
However, you did display great capabilities of punishing me. I remember attempting to use my up-air against you, but I missed, and you immediately slammed me with your down-air (dive bomb). However, you should try not to recklessly use your down-air as a neutral move; you should save that as a punisher. In order to bait out your opponent's key moves, you're gonna have to keep a good distance away from them while still being close enough to be able to punish on cue (this is called "spacing").
As Toon Link, that's exactly what your Boomerang is for. Jump back, throw a Boomerang, make them approach you, then dodge or shield their attack, and go for the punish (it doesn't necessarily have to be your grab or down-air).
Of course, you should expect other players to do this too. They might play conservatively, so they won't move around until there's an opening. However, you're Toon Link! You have arrows! Use them! As you shoot your arrows, you should move a bit closer each time, while still exerting pressure on the opponent. Then, see if they start attacking. If they do, punish them. If not, use your safer moves (Boomerang FTW).
Anyways, this is getting stupidly long, and I'm sure a lot of it sounds jumbled up since I didn't proofread. xD
But if you do find the time to read this, I hope it helps you out, lol, because you are indeed a good player. You just need to keep up the practicing so that you can live up to your well-deserved skills. Without further ado, good luck on your quest to becoming a greater Smash Bros. player!
EDIT: Man, that took how long to type? Like 40 minutes? xD
Aaand, I think you might want to change your profile's font/size/color if you want to read this without passing out, lololol.
