I hope I didn't sense any tone there...
I see the difference between 5-3 and 3-1...There's a huge difference. 5-3 gives you many many more options and is a much more even game, while a 3-1 means the odds are much worse against you. Heck, I was down 4-1 and came back to win.
I really don't like this 5-3 rule. 4-2 is all fine and dandy, but 5-3 can technically be a close match. But because of the situation, it's fine if Graceful gets the points. The only thing about that is...he had won that battle prior to his recent loss, which means if he was awarded the points he deserved, he'd be in round two right now.
