  • *hits self in head* For some reason I was thinking of a different language than Python. Also I didn't see the google code link. I think you're closer to normal than I am though. At least you don't have multiple personalities.

My favorite songs and bands are pretty obscure. My favorite song would have to be either "shadow of uther" by kamelot or (a song possibly as different as is possible from the previous) "Master Blaster/Everywhere" remix by squad-e. It's a bit difficult to tell what bands I like since most of the things I listen to are from some person you'll never hear of again, like Jimmy J, QFX, or Jaxx. And it's only for one song. Some favorite bands would have to be Tune up!, Re-con, Hixxy, Tsukui kazuhito (hoping I spelled that right), Kamelot, Avantasia, Green Day, and Styx. Zebrahead, and The All American Rejects have some good songs, but I have to pick and choose. I don't like rap either, but it can be done well. Especially if it's integrated into a decent song, and not overused. I used to be huge into rock. That drifted over into a couple VERY specific types of power metal, and neoclassical metal. I got kind of fed up with that one day, and discovered trance. I liked it, but it was too slow, so I got into happy hardcore, and uk hardcore. Now It appears that I'm drifting over to music from 8 and 16 bit video games of all things. While I feel you may be able to predict MY likes and dislikes, my other side has completely different tastes. Heck, for all I kno you may be my other side trying to screw with me, but I don't think that's very likely since he think pokemon is stupid, and you joined before I did.
I'm not, I'm merely stating an opinion and it happens to be shared. Either that, or I'm psychic, and I'd be just as (if not more) surprised as you. I just found out about your Python pokemon engine. It look good. It needs more work, but it definately is a lot better than something I would do. But chances are, you're not going to include everything everyone wants, so make sure it's as customizable as possible. That way the people at Game Dev can actually make something really spectacular. Like if they wanted to make a GOOD 3D pokemon game, it would probably be best to make it easy to integrate a new one. The same goes for most of the other aspects. I personally love unique battle engines like the one in the mother series, so it would be cool if that would be modifiable too. I guess what I'm saying is that, if you feel comfortable with it, I think you should release the source when the project gets a little farther along. Again, it's your project, and as such it is completely your call, I just would like to see a game that actually uses the fact that it's got a whole computer behind it instead of a just a ds for once. A bit off topic, but what music genres do you like? You'd be surprised how much you can tell about a person's personallity by what music they like.
You'd be surprised at just how much asm some of these people use for gimmicks, whereas here there are only a handful of hacks that do (excluding day and night and JPAN's engine of course) anything at all with asm. It's not like it's that much harder to write asm on a GBA processer than a SNES one, it just hasn't become almost a standard yet. B2/W2 do look a bit better, at least they handle the 3d aspect without having horrible big block pixels rendered in, but I still claim that if they're going for a 3d game, make it a 3d game. Give some camera controls, like what was at least planned for D/P/Pt . Don't just throw the 3d aspect on top. I just figure that if they're gonna require a PC/Mac/whatever to run a pokemon game, they might as well make something that actually uses that extra processing power and ram. If they made a pokemon game that used all the abilities that a Comp has, I would definately play it. It's kind of like writting an atari 2600 game for the wii. There's just no point.
I never really like SP, but I don't hope he burns as you say. He's a far bigger jerk than CBM ever was, and at least CBM actually was better at GB/GBC hacking than everyone else. He's kind of like the average youtube commenter. Act's like a retarded 8 year old on the net, but is actually halfway decent in real life. Its just getting him to show that side that's a pain. Don't get me wrong on the 3d thing, the battle system has improved (minus the new pokemon designs). My favorite battle sytem was the one used in coloseum and XD, but that was becasue it was sort of a 3d game. The new pokemon games just feel like 2d games that had 3d forced upon them. I could never really get into gamedev. Pokemon Granet's the only real exception, because I absolutely love the feel of it. I mostly just don't like the fact that the games aren't portable without a laptop I guess, whereas I can just drag and drop a gba file onto my flash cart. Belive it or not, I've regressed into the old super mario world romhacks due to this fact.
You made a much bigger impression on the community than I did. You actually wrote several tutorials, where as I sat around eating cheetos. The only thing I actually did do, was help a couple people with tile insertion way back when, and map for SarcasticPrince's hack. It's not like there's that much to post about here anyways. A year or two back, all kinds of crazy developments were going on, now things have kind of quieted down. Also I don't really like any of the games above the 3rd gen. I just prefer the 2d graphics I guess. They just looked so much prettier and had such attention to detail.
I stalk the forums, but rarely post. I log in almost every day. Because I have time to kill, my last three posts were yesterday, march 28th, and march 6th. I'm surprised to see that anyone here remembers me. I do remember you though.
Indeed! I was thinking about something very similar.
An OS that would allow access to OpenGL, ApenAL, Open.. well pretty much all of the open standards!
Then we could do something along the line of apps ( similar to the snartphone/android/ipod model)

... but... I still have to finish my game which I'm predicting will take ~1year :P
    Thanks :P
Yeah working on another project would be fun, I'm planning on writing an OS next, but plans can change.
Any type of project you have in mind?

My current plan is to finish my game, sell it on XBLIG, make lots of money (maybe... please), and then work on some other fun + awesome project!
Sorry I haven't been on MSN. .. I also lost my phone. (stupid thing, moving itself and whatnot). I hope you're doing well. :) Have a wonderful tomorrow! :D
Yes actually, it does take calculus 1 - 3 to make a graphics rendering engine. look it up at a college sometime. im going for a video game software development degree.
-__- Sounds, hurtful. Tbh, whenever I saw you around here, I felt as if I would never get to know you (Idk why o3o). Then came along the friendly PHO, which I've diverted my entire theme into now, lol.
Still fairly excellent. I'm a game developer, but I've only touched RMVX and RMXP. I need a proper game engine D:
    I
That's fine. If you can't get on, is there an alternative you can use?
