I tend to recommend ones I have seen that ...seem to be not as popular like Aishiteruze Baby - it is a comedy romance.

Do you like shorter animes or long ones and why?

I like short ones because I like things that have an ending. If something gets dragged out or doesn't get resolved it is very frustrating!!
 
Shorter ones, but I won't mind many season anime that have a close to the story after each season, but are linked together. Example being The Slayers. Every season has it's own plots and stories that end at the end of the season. Plus, it isn't totally necessary to go right to season two or three, but you'll miss some of the story.

26 or less episodes for me, usually.
 
I would even consider 50 episodes pretty short. I like long ones but I am waiting for them to be totally over so I know how many I will have to watch like Bleach & Naruto...I am putting off starting animes that are that long. @_@;

Fave anime & fave character:

Easily Fullmetal Alchemist being my favorite anime and Edward Elric being my favorite character. <3 They win by default.

Fave genre of anime:

FANTASY (i.e. FMA, Vampire Knight, Naruto, Bleach). I'm a sucker for things that aren't of this world. I also enjoy some slice of life series (Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star, Someday's Dreamers..etc.) and that's about it really. I'll try any anime at least once before I decide if I like it or not. XD

What genres do you like/dislike?

As I said, mostly all of them except for maybe sci-fi. =/ Doesn't really interest me, though I did like Ghost in the Shell. :)

Instead of a long arse paragraph telling you to go watch FMA, I'll tell you to check out some more unknown titles, such as Peach Girl, and Someday's Dreamers. (I'd also tell you to go read Vampire Knight since its not an anime yet..., but alas, this is the Anime Watchers Club...so I won't and just say I did! XD *shot*)

Do you like shorter animes or long ones and why?

I'm divided, really. I enjoy short animes like s-CRY-ed, Haruhi Suzumiya, Gravitation and others because there aren't fillers and the series is overall done better because time isn't wasted. However, I love long series such as my adored FMA and even longer series like Naruto (Shippuuden) and Bleach because you get many episodes dedicated to certain characters and there so much character development that I start to like them. Yesh, I'm a person that enjoys fillers, sue me. (No, Mary Sue me. XD That way I'm with bishies! *shot again*

I don't really recommend much, I'm usually the one getting recommendations. :P

I like shorter animes by far. They don't stretch out too long and make the plot confusing and stuff, the endings are usually nice too. Except for Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, I didn't like that ending.

Wow! Welcome everyone! Thanks for joining! Anime Watchers Unite! ^_^ Okay now let me answer a few topic questions. ^^ My favorite anime and character are in the first page.

Fave genre of anime: Oh wow, I think it has got to be a tie between Fantasy and Romance Comedy(Or Comedy in general).

What genres do you like/dislike?

Like: I love Action/Adventure, Magical Girl, Comedy, Supernatural, Mystery, Romance, Drama, Slice of Life(Whatever that is, lol), Some Sports, etc.

Dislike: Horror, yaoi/yuri, shonen-ai(even though I will check out "Loveless", that is about it! If I don't like it...I will drop it in a heartbeat.), hentai, anime that doesn't have a plot, anime that ends with no ending, Sci-Fi(really don't dislike this one, since I watched a few anime in this genre and it isn't that bad. But in general, I don't get into this one a lot.), Mecha(read what I put on Sci-Fi)

What anime do you recommend the most to others?

Uh...well I recommend that everyone watch Naruto, Bleach, Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon, FMA, Lovely Complex, and Azumanga Diaoh. But I guess most of you guys seen these or watching them. So as of right now I don't have recommendations. ^^; But I will soon...

Well I like them both actually. I really don't mind watching a short one as long it has a ending or they will actually continue with Part 2 later. Just don't stop whatever it is! Continue it! But it doesn't happen sometimes. Usually I want to enjoy the anime from its entirety. If they follow the manga and the manga is long, then the anime should be just as long. Well that is what I feel about it. ^_^

The best anime of all time is Fullmetal Alchemist, and the best character is Edward. From among the ladies, I'd choose Hinata from Naruto.

Pretty much everything that isn't Sci-Fi. Though there are some good Sci-Fi ones.

Oh, several....Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto: Shippuuden, Sailor Moon, Shaman King, Inuyasha, Death Note, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bleach, Lucky Star....and many more.

I have a Notepad file where I have lised every anime ever recommended to me, and how many episodes I have watched. This looks like a good spot to find more to add to the list! =D

I agree with the Sci-Fi genre. There are a few good titles in that genre, but not a whole a lot. I can't get into it as much as the others.

Most of the Sci-Fi anime are about giant robots and the like, and that doesn't really interest me. This is weird, seeing as I am an Aerospace Engineering student. XD

I started watching Cowboy Bebop, as I heard it was good. Same with Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is quite all right. But I still prefer the ones I listed in that last post.
 
Yeah I get what you are saying. I love Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star. Those are great! Neon Genesis Evangelion is okay. I watched a few episodes and as of right now, I don't quite understand what is going on, lol. But is a good series. ^^

One thing I want to add. Well the good thing is that a anime is in some type of genre, it can also have another genre. Like for instance, Inuyasha. It is a fantasy anime. But also it is action/adventure, comedy, romance, etc... So if anyone have these genres as their favorite, they will like that title.

Sailor Moon seems to be my priority now, and I have 138 episodes more to go. I should have mentioned Sailor Mars as one of my favourite characters, too. =D

Yeah it is pretty long. I enjoyed it very much even though the ending...I won't get into that. I don't want to spoil you on that. ^^;

Alright! Sailor Moon rules! I watched up to SuperS. I need to watch Stars though. So I have about 37 more episodes to go until I finish the series. Sailor Mars is cool. But I like Sailor Moon better. XD And Sailor Mercury and Jupiter. ^^

Or maybe not because when I was a little kid I watched a show on Nick called Belle and Sebastian come to find out it was an anime!!! When I was a kid I loved that show <3
 
Ooh, thanks for the welcomes people. :3 Glad I got to join. I see everyone mentioning that they don't like yaoi/yuri or shounen-ai and I had to say my point of view on this. While I like the love between boys, I usually only really like it if its canon i.e. Gravitation, Loveless, Yami no Matsuri...etc. I still do pair guys together that aren't canon (for me, its mostly Naruto x Sasuke, Deidara x Sasori..etc..), but I usually only like it because its adorable. XD I don't really want to see them...you know. I just think their relationship is cute. And Lucy, btw, Loveless is really good, its a wonderful series. It's one of the few shounen-ai's that doesn't throw the boy love in your face. It lets you see it slowly. That was one of the aspects of it that brought me to watch it... :D

Back to the actual topic at hand... XD

What was the first anime you saw? And what was your reaction when you seen it?

Well, technically, my first anime was probably Pokemon when I was a six year old. I don't really remember what I thought about it, I just remember having the hugest crush on Ash. lol. I found out that the first actual anime I ever saw was a movie called Scamper the Penguin here. I watched that when I was like four and I found out last year, twelve years later, that it was an anime. XD If we go by what I remember, my first real anime was Inuyasha. I loved it sooooooooo much, even though I snuck to watch it because my mom didn't like Inuyasha's dirty mouth. (I was nine at the time...oh wellz.) Watching this anime led me to watch every anime on [adult swim] and so here I am now, eight years later and still staying up every single Saturday night watching my beloved anime. <3 yay, I enjoy it!
