Dutchesse: To answer your question, yep, your starter will be your only Pokémon.

Also, as a heads up (and I probably didn't make myself clear), the team color defines what type affinity you have. So, for example, being on Violet Team means you'll be using a Flying-type Pokémon. Going on Black Team would let you use one of the starters listed under that team, such as Absol.

Name: Zack Sydney
Age: Just barely 15
Gender: Male
Normal Appearance: Zack is fairly short for his age, with a very slender build. He Is fairly underweight, and if it weren't for his eating habits, he might be believed anorexic. He has Blonde hair and pale blue eyes. He tends not to wear clothes that are fashionable, just those that he likes. In short, Zack looks like he's 10.
Battle Appearance: Before entering battle, Zack will spike his hair and put on some shades (special high tech glasses for reading distances in angles).
Personality: Zack was considered a prodogy back on earth, and he was very aware of that fact. He is cocky as hell, but isn't a complete narcisist. He is helpful when the situation calls for it, but tends to be socially awkward, saying things he probably should keep to himself.
History: Zachery was born in Goldenrod city, and his best fiend as a child was the now Gym leader Whitney. When he started going to school, he really shined above all his peers. His friendship with whitney lasted until she turned 10, and she developed the habit of crying at every time she was outdone. Since then he has be devoted to studying electronics and pokemon to the point that he was arguably more knowledgable than the foremost researchers in the field.
Team: Black (sorry I know it's overcrowded)
Pokémon Partner: Absol, name:Blade
Other Things To Know: Zach is incredibly weak, and fails at any task involving manual labor.

Writing Sample: From Lord of the Flygons(different site)

Sorry it's not the best sample.

Name: Nigul 'Nicholas' Pärn
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Normal Appearance: Nicholas has short, blond hair and a deep-set face with blue eyes. He is Scandinavian in appearance, despite being Estonian ethnically. He has a large build, being 6'2" in height and weighing around 200lb. His attire consists of a faded, brown, leather jacket over a plain, white t-shirt and a pair of oft-worn, dark blue jeans. He wears a somewhat grubby pair of trainer shoes to complete an understated yet formidable look.
Battle Appearance: Nicholas experiences no change in appearance when entering battle.
Personality: Nicholas is generally a solitary person, allowing only a select few into his circle of people he might consider friends. The only other beings he appears to show any consideration for are his Pokémon, whom he has trained well over the three years he has been certified as a trainer. He is reserved and quiet - a gentle giant - but he is fiercely loyal. He would protect those people who he does consider to be friends to the very end, willing to give his life to spare another's. He is normally distrustful of people he does not know, though publically he will usually give off an air of indifference. As a result he has a tendency to alienate such people.
History: Nicholas was born Nigul Pärn in Helsingborg, Sweden on January 4th, 1990. He and his family are ethnic Estonians, his parents having fled the country during the late 1980s, with violence from the Soviets a very real threat. They travelled through Estonia, Finland and Sweden, eventually settling in the south of the country. Nigul was educated in Helsingborg, learning Swedish and later English in his schooling and being taught Estonian at home. Despite excelling at languages Nigul opted to finish his education after finishing Grundskola at the age of sixteen. It was at this point that he received his Pokémon trainer's license, and he travelled throughout Sweden for a year, culminating in a silver medal at the 2007 Swedish Pokémon Championships. With the prize money he received he moved abroad to the United States of America, taking up residence in an apartment in Queens, New York City, and taking the Anglicised version of his birth name - Nicholas. He found life in America to be difficult to adapt to, however, especially in regards to Pokémon - despite being vastly superior to the majority of trainers in Sweden Nicholas found himself unable to even qualify for the national championships in the US, instead finishing third in the New York State Championships due to a particularly bad piece of luck. His prowess was noticed by the crew of Eos, however, and he was abducted while in the midst of a late-night battle while in downtown New York.
Team: Green
Pokémon Partner: A Bronzor, nicknamed Pronks. Pronks is, in contrast to Nicholas' somewhat stoic personality, outgoing and cheerful. This seems to have a positive effect on Nicholas, as much as he would hate to admit it.
Other Things To Know: Nicholas is proficient in three languages, with his Swedish (spoken with a Scanian dialect) being his strongest language, followed by his English and then Estonian; he still occasionally struggles with English words, but his other languages have worsened slightly, as their usage has declined due to his emigration to America.
Writing Sample: (Buh, only one of my writing samples are still in existence, what with PFU having been shut down. >_< This will have to do, though it's hardly my best work.)

The four men ran into the vast chamber, examining their surroundings for any signs of life. The cavern was dark, however, so the flame user among them turned the palm of his right hand upwards, conjuring a flame. His gloved hand could easily hold the fire and contain its power; such were his skills. Now that the warriors could see into the further reaches of the cave they began to search for any indications that their enemies were here. There were many broken planks of wood on the ground, so the Fire warrior collected some into a pile and lit them with his magic. He suddenly heard the sound of dripping water behind him and wheeled round brandishing an ōdachi sword just in time to see a human form appearing out of a pool of water on the ground. He jumped away instantly, keeping his eyes fixed on the beautiful female form that had materialised. She was composed of the water itself, but once she was complete her human form could be seen. Stunning blue eyes looked at the Fire user, transfixing him, and golden locks of hair flowed down her back in the manner of a waterfall. The warrior was unable to tear his eyes away from the Elemental's, and the temptress advanced on him. He found he was incapable of speech, and could only watch as the woman's arm turned to water and headed straight for his mouth in an attempt to drown him where he stood. Then, just as her fingertips were teasing with his mouth a great shout was heard and a huge, hulking man brought an equally large bisento crashing into the woman's side. She was unable to switch to her liquid form, and so the long, curved blade of the weapon sent her flying into the cave wall.

Pretty much my first sign-up ever, so I should expect some alterations are needed. xD;

Sorry for the small delay.

Down with the darkness: Most of what I'm having a bit of trouble with is the personality here. Remember that it's a four-line minimum, and right now, it seems to be two lines on my monitor (three lines if I shrink the window down to 800 x 600). If you could add a bit more, it'd help.

Moreover, there seems to be some inconsistency with what you're calling the character. Nitpick, but it and a few other oddities (misspellings, et cetera) make me think you might want to look over your app one more time.

Going back and forth about the kid's intelligence. On the one hand, you also cripple the character with his lack of physical prowess, but on the other hand, just how intelligent is this kid? I'm also a bit wary about the fact that you mention Whitney, but it seems to be an afterthought. You don't really explain what the significance to that is other than to give him a relationship with a canon character. (You mention they were childhood friends, sure, but what about now? What effects did she have on him?) In general, actually, the history seems a bit sparse. What about his family? Is he still in school? What's the significance of his relationship with Whitney? All can totally be exploited possibly help define the character.

For now, I'll put this as pending. I'd like to see what happens if you go back and add more detail to this character.

Tribulations: Side nitpick, m'dear, but you forgot your team colors. But hey, minor bit. I can't even remember why I included it in a separate field. In any case, approved.

Also, will get the OOC thread put in queue soon. Once it's up, sign-ups will take place over there. In the meantime, I'll still take sign-ups here. Really doesn't matter to me.

But for now, the first setting. Have fun, kids. I'll be playing the voice of God, and by God, I mean the Benefactors, robots, and random NPCs.

---

[IC]

The room was dark. So dark that save for small specks of white in a tiny field, the place would be pitch-black. It might take a smart soul, however, to realize that those specks weren't in the room or even on the wall but rather beyond it, far out in a black sky separated from them by a thick, cold window.

However, the room itself wasn't cold. There were too many people too close together to feel cold. It wasn't exactly that the group was packed in like a bunch of sardines. It was just that there were a lot of people there. Of course, one might not be able to tell right away because of how pitch-black it was, but the groans and soft chatter of scores of people were enough of a hint.

For a long time, it would be quiet. Some people would have enough time to not only wake up but also notice there might be people around them, and certainly, a number of nameless faces were already doing just that. However, after awhile -- an hour, a few minutes, however much time passes when it's dark and there's nothing to do -- there would be a sound.

A hiss, a whir, a clunk. Light finally came in through a rectangular opening at one end of the chamber. Then, a strange shape was silhouetted in the doorway. It looked a lot like a globe on a box with tubes ending in claws jutting out its sides. Strangely enough, it also wasn't touching the ground. Instead, at the bottom of the box was another globe, and beneath that, thin air.

It glided into the chamber, followed by two others just like it. Then, with another whir and a clunk, the door closed, and the room plunged into darkness again, save for the white spots outside and the blinking, red lights on the strangers' bodies.

And then, a voice boomed.

"Lights. On."

At that point, the chamber flooded with white light. The room would look square, with walls and floor of blue tile. However, when going from pitch-darkness to bright light, some people might have taken awhile to notice. The robots hovered in three corners of the room. They could wait.

I do apologize

Here I completely rewrote it, and changed team:

Name: Zach Sydney

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Normal Appearance: Zach is only 4"10' , and very thin. He weighs under 100 pounds, and you would believe he was anorexic if you never saw him eat. He has light blode hair and his eyes are a pale blue. His legs are cut up and bruised, and his arms are wirey. He tends not to wear things based on fashion, and more often relies on things that are comfortable, that he can move in, and that are bright colored. If you didn't know his age, you would think he was 10. Zach's eyes are often bloodshot from hours studying on the computer. His eyelashes are fairly feminine and longer than that of most boys. His eyelashes are nearly invisible as they match Zach's pale skin tone. Zach's skin tone is incredibly pale, because nearly any sun exposure burns his skin horribly. Normaly his hair is worn in a unaltered pose, he lets it stay as it after showering, never using a comb, and only using gel before battles.

Battle Appearance: When Zach enters battle he undergoes some minor changes. He spikes up his hair with gell, and gives his tips a light red tinted coloring. He also wears a pair of small shades that he bought for a deal of a pedaler(sp?). The shades are specialy designed to triangulate measurements, and read angles, in order to help the wearer calculate his attacks.

Personality: Zach is often considered a prodogy by people he knows. He is several years ahead of his age group and probably could be a colledge sophmore if he could just hand in his damn homework. He is very cocky, and unintentionally pushes others away because of it. He is so forgetful that he gets B's only because he never remebers his homework. He also has a bad problem with procrastination, taking on the "why do today, what can be done tommarow" philosophy. Despite being cocky, Zach is kindhearted, and tries to help others when it doesn't interfere with his goals. Zach often is and optimist but is heavily effected by insults of others, which causes bouts of depression, giving the illusion of him being bipolar. Zach also has the bad habit of being socialy awkward, saying things that may not be apporpriate at the time.

History: Zach was born in a middleclass household in Goldenrod City. As a young child his best friend was the now gym leader Whitney. When the two got their first pokemon, it was aparent Whitney was a natural, and Zach learned nearly all he knew about battling from watching her. When she reached around ten though, she started to develope a sort of complex. Whenever she was outdone, she would start crying, slowly pushing Zach away from her, and deeper into his studies. By age thirteen the two rarely talked to eachother, and Zach was burying himself in books on pokemon behavior and books on technology. He later reached the point of being massively ahead of is his classmates, only adding to his exhile. When he turned fouteen he traveled to newbark town to meet his Idol the famous profesor Elm. When he got there, he found out that Elm was actualy looking for an assitant at the time. Ever since, he has worked on reasearch with the profesor. Less than a week before being abducted, Zach recieved a treecko from Elm, who wanted him to have it for aiding him in a breakthrough on pokemon egg studies. (the treecko hatched from an egg Zach was studying)

Team: Green

Pokémon Partner: Treecko; his name is Blade.

Other Things To Know: Zach crippled by an intense lack of upper body strength. He cannot complete most of the simpilist of manual labor, contributing to his image as being a nerd.

Name: Sara Miriani
Age: 17 (captain, maybe?)
Gender: Female

Normal Appearance:
Sara isn't exactly what some would call... unattractive. And she knows it too, and takes pride in her appearance. Some call her vain, but what else is she supposed to do? Pretend she doesn't enjoy her good looks? Pretend she isn't proud of her body? Yeah, that makes sense. Sara has a respectable hourglass shape, with a body toned by hard training. Her torso is long, which makes up for her average legs. She stands at 5'8, and doesn't intend to wear heels to make herself any taller. Her light brown hair is naturally highlighted by the sun, leaving dark blond streaks. It reaches to the bottom of her shoulder blades, with a gentle wave throughout the body. If she doesn't bathe for a few days, it tends to get greasy and wild. She dislikes messing with her hair with any sort of hair appliance - she likes it natural, thank you very much.

Her face is round, but the features are somewhat refined. Her eyes are an average size, and the irises are a simple green-brown hazel. She has long eyelashes, but her eyebrows overshadow them; they're thick and dark. Her brow isn't jutting; it just lies flat with her face. On her forehead, you can barely see three furrow lines. When she raises her eyebrows, though, the furrows are extremely obvious. Her nose is a normal size, thankfully, but it tends to collect blackheads of all sizes is she doesn't wash her face. Normally, Sara doesn't really break out unless she's stressed or on her period. She washes it every night with whatever she can get her hands on. If she can't wash anything else, she has to have her face clean. She has an okay skin tone - it isn't very tan, but it doesn't burn easily and is never too pale. It is susceptible to being oily, though, especially on her forehead and nose. She never uses makeup; it takes up space in her bag and she has no use for it. Sara isn't very picky in terms of clothing. She just needs a t-shirt and a pair of jeans that fit right to be okay. When she's traveling, she wears a pair of bleached jeans (Tim bought them for a birthday present, saying she needed a new pair that wasn't from the men's section), with a plain, navy blue tank top. Over the tank top is a zip-up black hoodie; she either wears the hoodie or has it tied around her waist for training. Her shoes are a boring pair of black low-top Converse.

Battle Appearance: Sara doesn't really enjoy the uniform. She finds it too clingy. But, most on her team agree, the uniform just makes Sara's 5'8 frame look taller and more intimidating. Her hair is kept up, because it's hard to mess with it when it's under a helmet.

Personality:
Sara is very sarcastic. That's pretty much as far as her sense of humor goes, seeing as she can't make jokes to save her life. Her comments can range from snide to poking fun, to jokes or just plain callous and rude. Most people receive a comment somewhere in the middle of that spectrum. Normally (or as often as she can), Sara has a somewhat indifferent disposition, but she's a very emotional person, so it normally doesn't work too well. However, she almost always wears an expression of indifference, even when she's sobbing inside. To most people, all they'll ever see is that bored expression. Unfortunately, Sara has a terrible temper that often gets in the way of reason. Around friends, she's a light-hearted person. She's honest (often a bit too much - she may come off a bit brutal), and helping. She'll sacrifice almost anything for her friends or Pokemon. If friends were to ask her if she would die for them, however, they'll be met with silence before a very abrupt subject change. For her Pokemon, though, there is no limit to what she would do.

In battles, Sara's calculating and doesn't bother talking to her opponent. She does, however, offer a small piece of encouragement or motivation to her Pokemon when she feels it's needed. Otherwise, she's silent except for calling out commands.She's ruthless at times, but she tries to refrain from being needlessly cruel. While she has no issues with working in groups, Sara prefers to be a leader instead of a follower. She doesn't like following anyone's orders but her own, and can become defiant if ever commanded to do something (even if she would have done it herself anyways). She doesn't like having her views challenged - the possible change involved scares her. Besides, she often determines her way is the only way (when it isn't). Though proud and headstrong, Sara isn't reckless. She's a determined and stubborn person, but if things look bleak, she's getting her butt out of there to save herself and her Pokemon, seeing as they come first.

History:
Sara was born in Oldale Town, and was always looking for adventure. Instead of playing tea party with the mild girls in the neighborhood, she went out with the boys and pretended she was the Champion of Hoenn. She dreamed of being the best trainer in the world, and she scoffed at any mentions of Contests. Growing up with just a mother had made Sara want to express more masculine tendencies, just to be different. She was all set to go visit Professor Birch for her starter when her mother was suddenly diagnosed with lung cancer. Being an avid smoker, the news was of little surprise to Sara. But, seeing as she was the only one that lived with her mother, she stayed behind and made sure the smoking was put to an end. But even after the smoking had ended, it was too late. Sara's mother was bedridden for two years before she finally died when Sara was only thirteen. Somehow, it never hit Sara hard. She had barely known her mother; it was of no great loss to her. The day after the funeral, she marched to Littleroot as if nothing had happened. She selected Mudkip for her starter and commenced her journey.

It wasn't until Fortree, after challenging Winona for the second time, that Sara met Tim. Stuck in the Pokemon Center due to bad weather, the two had struck up a conversation. Sara was thrown for a loop when Tim, this headstrong and proud boy, was a coordinator. She allowed him to explain just what a contest was to the people who so avidly participated in them. She learned that just because the Pokemon and their moves were beautiful, they weren't weak. So Tim joined Sara on her travels, teaching her just how a gorgeous technique could prove to be the deadliest combination of all. With his help, Sara managed to defeat Winona on her third try. The two continued on together until Lilycove, where Tim entered a contest and eventually won. After reaching Mossdeep, Tim had to part ways to make it in time for the Pacifidlog Contest. Sara had watched her friend go sadly, but continued her Gym Challenge with her normal vigor. She soon attained all eight Sinnoh badges and entered the Ever Grande Conference. At age fifteen, Sara made it to the semifinals before being eliminated from the competition. She stopped in Oldale to rethink her plan for the future. On the way home, in Mauville, she met up with Tim again. He was getting ready to head over to Kanto for contests there. After some thought, Sara followed.

She turned seventeen just a day before she defeated Blue in Viridian. She stepped out for a midnight walk to clear her mind that day. But she wasn't as alone as she thought. Tim searched the whole city for her the next day, but she was already on her way to Eos. Waking up, of course, was a disorienting experience. She was aware of other people, but she didn't attempt to talk to anyone. She merely waited for whatever may come, all the while wondering if she would ever see her Pokemon or Tim ever again.

Team: Yellow

Pokémon Partner:
Name: Leira (leer-uh)
Species: Dratini
Gender: Female
Personality: Leira is quiet and reserved, unlike her outspoken trainer. Yet, the two get along very well. Leira knows her trainer expects a lot of her, so she tries her best during each training session. When angered (though this is known to be very rare), Leira is a force to be reckoned with.

Other Things To Know: Generally, Sara isn't religious. It's just one of the things that make her squirm a little when the subject comes up.

Writing Sample: Urf. This is shortish, but it's also the most recent thing I have. It's from Ramzam's Full Moon Fade Away

(This is one of the best RPs I've seen in a while. I'm in ^.^)

Name: Katharine Elizabeth Anderson (goes by an assortment of nicknames, though she prefers to be called Kate)

Age: 16

Gender: female

Normal Appearance: Kate isn't a particularly unusual looking girl. She is about 5'8" tall and has a rather slender build, though don't let this deceive you as she is rather strong and there hardly ever seems to be a time when she isn't hungry. She has blonde hair that she typically wears back in a braid and her bright blue eyes sparkle mischievously from behind her bangs. She is used to spending tons of time outside and as a result has rather tan skin and muscular arms and legs. Kate's idea of makeup is chap stick and, rarely, a bit of mascara as she doesn't really like to bother with all of those kind of things as she can think of a thousand better things to do with her time. She tends not to wear jewelry and the only thing she has to that effect is a small silver stud in her nose. She wears a cream-colored camisole with the Pokemon logo on it and a black hoodie. She also wears tattered old blue-jeans with black leggings underneath and black boots.

Battle Appearance: When Kate goes into battle, several things change. Her braid is wrapped into a bun and she puts on a lot of eyeliner (supposedly to prevent being hindered by intense light during a task) and dark red lipstick.

Personality: Kate... Is an interesting person. Sometimes she is extremely talkative and is hard-pressed to shut up, but she can quickly get down to business and is rather good at giving orders. She has a rather sarcastic nature, but otherwise tends to be serious around people who she hasn't gotten to know. Unfortunately, Kate is also extremely curious. This curiosity leads her to do rather thoughtless things and get into situations that could have been easily avoided had she thought things through. On top if this, Kate has a short temper. She has little patience for people's weaknesses and fears and will do everything within her power to drive people forward (or insane, whatever comes first). She easily becomes defensive and lashes at out people both verbally and physically if provoked. But when someone takes the time to get to know her, Kate really is a caring girl who wants nothing more than to make the most of her life.

History: Kate's family owned a small berry farm back on earth. Her parents home-schooled her and never allowed her to go on a Pokemon journey, not that Kate was very eager to leave her home when there were already so many things that had to be done on the farm. Kate spent her summers as a counselor at a camp where she helped out with activities such as Ponyta-back riding, archery, rock-climbing, hang-gliding and swimming. Though Kate was a country-girl at heart, she spent much of the winter inside on her computer, so she's no stranger to technology. Coming from such a humble lifestyle, Kate was as surprised as anyone when she was abducted.

Team: red

Pokémon Partner: Ponyta - female

Other Things To Know: Kate is typically a very messy person, but will suddenly become unbearably neat when she is nervous and has nothing else to do. She is also a bit ADD and will do things such as tapping a pencil on a desk or shaking her leg and is a little OCD in the sense that if there is a noise that is bothering her, sometimes she will go into "seek and destroy" mode.

Writing Sample:
This is rather old, though. I'll find another one if need be.
From Kansas' classic: Pokemorph Liberation Force: Kanto

Down with the darkness: Much better. I'll approve.

*Lanee: Very interesting character. I'll approve, and above that, she's definitely captain material.

Mira: No problems I can see. Approved, and thanks for the compliment.

As a reminder to all approved characters, the plot has just started. Feel free to jump in, introduce your character, and maybe chat it up with whoever you can find. The robots will be speaking shortly.

The lights seemed bright. Adjusting to them was quick though. The room was packed with people.

What the hell? Where am I?

Up until then Zach thought he was dreaming. When he slept it always seemed like he was out in the middle of deep space far from any sentience; drifting in a sea of darkness. This time it was real, and Zach was in panic mode.

Damnit, how the hell am I in deep space? What are those robots doing? Why me? Who are all these people?

His head pulsed; he lost balance and colapsed on the ground. He started to fade out of conciousness. It was just too damn stressful. Before he blacked out, he saw a robot dart to pick him up.

Shelby felt a stinging pain in the back of her head as she awoke. Everything was silent and dark, save for the slight rustling of fabric. She opened her eyes a bit wider and noticed that there were small specs of light shining through. What…is that? She wondered, staring at it curiously. It almost seemed to be a light on a tunnel but…no, Shelby knew that wasn't right. She felt something or someone stir next to her. Where am I? she thought, attempting to remember.

Shelby was sitting outside, simply sketching a drawing of the landscape. She was sitting under a shade tree in the hot summer day. It was bright out, and she was basically wishing for rain. Her brother had gone off to do something, so Shelby was left to sit there and find something entertaining to do. She had settled on going outside to draw, but soon it had grown very hot. As she was about to walk back inside, she felt a sharp tap on the back of her head, and that was all she remembered.

Shelby shuffled slightly, moving around. She heard someone next to her cough, and realized that it was a guy. I wonder if he knows where we are…she thought to herself, debating whether or not to ask him. Finally her curiosity got the best of her. "Hey, do you know where we are?" she hissed into the darkness.

"Not really," the guy replied.

Shelby was about to stand up, but as she did so she realized that her hand was cuffed to something. What the crap?! She thought, eyes narrowing at her hand. She couldn't see it through the thick darkness, but she squinted and tried to anyway. After a few meek and useless attempts and pulling her hand free, she sat back down and looked around some more. It appeared as though other people were waking up now. Shelby vaguely had a slight feel of claustrophobia, but then it passed. It's very hot in here, she thought, wiping her hand across her forehead.

"So how did they get you?"

Shelby's ears perked slightly as she heard voices whispering to each other in the dark. Her senses seemed so heightened and acute right now that it almost scared her. She turned to the guy next to her again. "Do you know what's happening?"

Shelby heard a brief movement and she suspected that he was shaking his head. "All I know is that I was walking home and then suddenly I wind up here. With a bunch of people I don't know, too," the guy added, grumbling under his breath. "What about you?" he asked.

"I was outside drawing some stuff," Shelby replied, shifting slightly because her foot was beginning to crap. She felt a dull throb in the back of her head, but she tried to ignore it as best as she could.

Suddenly there was a noise, and a door opened. Shelby blinked and was slightly blinded by the amount of light. Then the light was gone again, and all that was left were the white dots and odd red flashing lights. Then there was a loud voice, ordering the lights on. Shelby snapped her eyes shut but she was still able to tell when the lights turned on. Slowly she opened her eyes, allowing them to adjust to the brightness of the lights and the new colors of the room around her.

Name: Nikolas "Nick or Neo" King
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Normal Appearance: Neo has a small amount of stubble across his lower face. He also has clean, slightly pale skin. His sideburns go to just under his ears, which take up about one fourth of his head height. His hair is dark brown in appearance, which is very similar to his eyes. It is spiky in some places and a touch less in others. If you look carefully, you can see just a touch of contempt in his eyes. Neo is about 6 and a half feet in height, which is tall for his age, and weighs about 150 pounds. He has a strong build, and a broad chest. Neo's usual attire (on Earth) is a plain white t-shirt with a light gray hoodie over it, which Neo keeps half zipped. He wears dark blue jeans, that are torn a lot at the bottom/cuffs, and plain white running shoes.
Battle Appearance: Nothing really. xD OH! Um, his hair goes down....as in, no spikes.....:D

Personality: Because of what's happened to Neo in his life, he has kind of two sides to his personality. Because of spending the majority of his life with the Matthews, who taught him to be helpful and loved him like they were their own child, Neo is usually a nice and helpful person. In a close second, he spent some of his life in the orphanage, where they taught Neo to be polite, and again helpful. Next, for the three years Neo was a "runnaway", he developed into a good theif, and a good liar, and that trait is still a bit dominant in Neo. Lastly, Neo's personality consists of how he is alone, as in, he would still have these things, Neo is quite humble, and can't stand it when something is wasted, or something bad happens to someone he loves. On the down side, Neo can be a bit hard to trust, and sometimes forgets his own strength. Neo is pysically strong due to training and running a lot as a runnaway.

History: Neo was born in New Cork City, a big city in the Sinnoh region. Soon after he was born, his mother died, and his father was never seen again. Neo was put in St. Nikolas Orphanage (hence, the name), a small orphanage in the city. For seven years he was raised and educated in the orphanage, until one day he ran away, seeking adventure. (xD, young children)

Overall, Neo was a rather good "runaway". He was a great liar, and a pretty decent thief. He lived off of stolen food, or food given to him through lying. He picked an alley between to big buildings as his shelter. He lived like this for three years, until one day, the owner of the building on his left found him…..

The owner of the building was quite shocked to find a ten year old homeless child in the alley next door, but remained calm. First, he asked the boy's name. "Nick", Neo had answered, scared out of his mind but also remaining calm. The man said his name was Matthew Matthews, and took the Neo inside his big house.

The fist thing Neo saw when he walked through the double doors was a big stadium, with blue, iron floors. The man led him into a different room, only a quarter of the size, which looked like a regular house. There was a bunk bed, and a regular bed. In the corner there was a plump girl with bright pink hair.

Neo learned that her name was Maylene Matthews, obviously Matthew Matthews' wife, and that she was pregnant with the Matthews' first. Almost. Because the Matthews' took in little Neo. Neo learned that Maylene was the gym leader of New Cork, and that she specialized in fighting types. They registered Neo in New Cork Middle School, and raised him as their own child.

Between that day and Neo's nineteenth birthday, Maylene's child was born, a small boy named Jimmy; Neo graduated and was entered in high school, then graduated there, and got his first job as the assistant gym coach at the high school. Jimmy looked up to Neo, and admired how cool and awesome his big brother was.

A week before Neo's twentieth birthday, he disappeared. His brother and parents sobbed. No one seemed to know where Neo had vanished to………..

Team: Red
Pokémon Partner: Male Makuhita.
Other Things To Know: AFTER I made the name, I looked up Nick and its meaning was "Victorious People". ALSO, here is what the head looks like; a picture, but I typed it anyway. Kinda. xD

Nicholas's head throbbed, and one side of his face felt the unforgiving cold of steel. He groaned deeply, and began to open his eyes. His vision seemed not to change as they opened, and it dawned on him that he was completed submerged in the darkness.

"Vad i helvete?" he murmured in his first language, Swedish. He lifted his head from the metal floor, becoming acutely aware of a dull pain in his neck, and he moved into an upright position with some difficulty. He rubbed at the back of his neck, and tried to piece together how he had found himself in a pitch black room with an aching body.

~

Downtown New York City. The pale glow of streetlights and the distant light of the moon were all that served to illuminate the makeshift battlefield. In a side street two Pokémon trainers did battle – a shady type that went only by the name of Fury and Nicholas Pärn. The two men stood at opposite ends of the road, the normally-busy streets behind them nearly empty at this time of night. Dominating the asphalt, however, were the trainers' two Pokémon. A fairly small Pokémon with brown fur and muscled limbs was released from a Poké Ball – a Primeape that appeared in a flash in front of Fury. Immediately the trainer barked some orders, and the Pig Monkey Pokémon dashed towards his foe. The large blue-green Pokémon that stood across from him gave little heed to this assault, the Tangrowth instead opting to watch the Fighting-type's movements.

"Växt! Grab him with Power Whip!" Nicholas shouted, and the Grass-type burst into activity. Two thick, powerful vines shot outwards from the tangled mess that the Tangrowth's outer body comprised of, heading straight towards the advancing Primeape. Clouded by rage the Fighting-type made no attempt to dodge the oncoming attack, and was struck by the full force of Växt's attack. The vines made deep gashes in the Pokémon's side, and he cried out in serious pain, helpless to prevent the vines from encircling him and holding him in place, some two feet off the ground and a good ten yards away from the Grass-type.

"Continue with Wring Out, Växt," Nicholas said calmly to his Pokémon, the Tangrowth complying by tightening the grip he held on the Fighting-type and attempting to crush him. Fury shouted some orders that Nicholas could barely hear, but to no avail – his Pokémon was practically immobilised by the thick vines.

"Finish him off with Slam!" Nicholas shouted, sensing victory just ahead. The vines now began to retract, bringing the Primeape with them. Just as the Fighting-type neared and Växt prepared a full-body assault, however, there was a huge noise overhead, causing the two trainers, their Pokémon and the modest crowd of onlookers to look up at the sky. Above the buildings was a huge craft with a great deal of lights on its base. All of a sudden the area was lit by a blinding light.

This was all Nicholas remembered.

~

Nicholas's eyes slowly became accustomed to the level of darkness, and he gradually became aware of the presence of many other people. Some had gotten up, with a few even engaged in conversation.

'Like that would help, dårar,' he thought. Talking to these people wasn't going to solve anything, least not why such a large group of people had ended up in a dark, metal room. Nicholas began to ponder where the room was located. Was he still in New York? Was he still even in the United States? He suddenly spied a source of light, a pinpoint of white against dark greys. He stood up and moved towards it, carefully stepping over sleeping people, but the light seemed to come no closer. As he came closer a few more specks of light began to appear, all in a small cluster directly ahead of him. He continued to walk, arms out in front of him, until he hit a solid wall. He moved his hands up to the light, and felt glass. He pressed his face right up against the thick pane, and gasped as he gazed upon the surface of a barren-looking planet.

"Herre gud, vi är i yttre rymden?"

Sam woke up to groaning everywhere. "Ugh...what the heck happened?" he asked himself. It was dark and there were very few dim lights in the room. White dots, everywhere. Sam looked closer. Suddenly, he got it. Those lights, they weren't in the room. They were outside it. Almost like...stars. Thinking back, he tried to figure out what had happened. He pieced together what he could. Him and Riolu walking, a flash, and now he was trapped inside a fair sized room with about 50 people. Wait. Riolu, where was he? "Buddy? Riolu? Where are you?" Sam asked, looking around. Suddenly, he heard a voice.

"Lights. On." it said. Suddenly, many flood lights turned on, temporarily blinding Sam. When he opened his eyes, he saw that the room was larger than he thought. Many more people, too. A guy stepped on Sam's leg standing up. Sam didn't like this. Standing up himself, he shoved the guy back into a crowd, where he fell over.

"Retard. Don't mess with me," Sam said, moving over. A line was forming and Sam decided it couldn't be all bad. He got in it. After about 10 minutes of waiting, he was at the front. A robot grabbed his arm as another held out a bracelet. Locking it on Sam's wrist, they threw him back at a wall. "OUCH!" Sam yelled, crashing into a wall. The lights were still on and Sam sat up. Waiting for something to happen, he touched the bracelet. Nothing. "Must be a tracking device..." Sam said, standing up and walking around, waiting for something.

"Lights. On."

"Ugh..." Kate groaned, lifting up an arm to attempt and block the piercing light. Her eyes flickered open, revealing, much to her surprise, that she was in a blue-colored room. Kate also noticed, to her even greater surprise, that there was a boy laying on her legs.

"Gidoff me," Kate growled, pushing the boy gruffly off of her and standing up, bracing her hand against the tiled wall as she fought against a wave of dizziness.

Kate looked around and found that there were more people lying on the ground, some of them awake but most of them unconscious, and almost all of them around her age.

"What the...?" Kate shook her head, not understanding what was going on. The last thing she remembered was going for a ride on one of the Ponyta on the trail and then... nothing.

"Where am I?" Kate wondered, raising a hand to the side of her head and flinching when something cold pressed against her scalp. Kate looked down at her arm and found that there was a metal circlet around it. But... Kate didn't own any bracelets, let alone thick metal ones.

Kate pulled on the metal bracelet, but it was stuck. She yanked on it, struggling to squeeze it over her hand, but it didn't budge. Panicked, Kate hit it against the wall, only to discover that her hand was much more fragile than the bracelet.

"Ow ow ow..." Kate muttered through gritted teeth, clenching and unclenching her fist as a bruise formed on her wrist.

A whirring sound stopped Kate cold. Three machines were lined up against the wall, one in each corner. They all appeared to be motionless and... floating? Kate shook her head, forcing herself to focus. She had somehow been... kidnapped and taken who knows where. Kate looked around, finding no door, but there was some sort of window on the opposite wall. Kate returned her attention to the robots. They didn't appear to be doing anything. Would they stop her if she tried to escape...?

Marina woke with a horrible headache. A million things raced through her mind, like where am I, what happened, where are my pokemon, my friends, my fans; then she remembered that she left them all behind: her fans, her pokemon, her friends... all of them. Glancing around, she noticed a window, the window was the only source of light in the otherwise completely dark room. Near the window were a few people, all had one thing in common, a silver bracelet. Looking down, she noticed that she too had one. No matter how hard she tried to get up, but found that she could not. A few inches off the ground she let out a groan and then collapsed. "Ugh.. my head..." she soliloquized.

From out of the darkness a voice rang, "May I help you?" The figure extended a calloused hand, ignominiously she accepted the stranger's hand and was hoisted up. "Follow me" he commanded in gruff voice. "Walking seems a little strenuous at first, but you get used to it" he said in the same tone, this time beginning to walk away.

Confused, Marina followed him, hugging his arm as not to get lost. They swerved around some sleeping figures, and stepped on some others, but they didn't wake. The man brought her to the only light source, the window. Looking out she saw a barren planet. "What is that place?" she crooned.

"We, uh, well..,uh, w-we don't really know," he stammered,"however, a few of us believe that it is... well, was Earth, we, uh, aren't really sure. Nonetheless we plan to find out the answers to all our questions" he reassured her. With a flick of his wrists, two men came over. "I am John, as you know, these are my two my buddies, you are?"

Before Marina could answer one of his buddies blurted out. "Even with the dim light I can recognize that beautiful face anywhere, you're Marina" he fawned.

"Yes I am" she politely responded. What she was thinking however, was completely different, Oh god another fan, ugh, I had thought I escaped them. "Well, I am going to see if I can find anyone I recognize" she said, trying anything to get away from the men, she wanted to be left alone that is the whole reason she left.

A loud sound drew the girl's attention to a nearby door that had slid open. The light beaming from it was intense, on the other side were a few figures, they looked funny; a sphere, on top of box which had two tubes coming from it, and then another sphere on the bottom that kept it afloat. It looked like something you made in first grade out of recycled garbage. The light was intense so she couldn't look for long. The light then went back behind the door. The figures had entered and were glowing faintly, a few spots on the chest and red in color.

"Lights On" sad a metallic voice that hurt Marina's ears. Then in a few seconds a bright light filled the room, she could again see nothing. Her eyes burned so she quickly shut them, some ten seconds later she reopened them and her eyes had adjusted.

Viridian City was oddly quiet that night as Sara stepped out of the Pokemon Center. She inhaled once before setting off, no particular destination in mind. Of course, Tim wouldn't approve of her wandering the streets at this hour, saying she needed sleep. The Indigo Plateau competition was coming up quickly, and, according to her traveling companion, she needed plenty of rest so she could train. But tonight, she just needed to clear her head before she could even think of sleep.

She turned onto a narrow street, packed with small shops on either side. There were flats on top of some of them, where the owners spent their time after closing. They were all probably sound asleep... Sara yawned. She was about to turn back for the Pokemon Center when a sudden scuffling made her pause. She was standing at the edge of light coming from a street lamp, below which two Rattata were bickering over a scrap of food.

Frowning, she began to search her pockets for food. Her hand hit a plastic wrapper when she checked her jacket pocket. As she pulled it out, she remembered it was a package of crackers that had come with her soup at lunch; she had stowed them away for later.

Both Rattatas froze when they heard the crinkling. It looked like it took everything they had to not dash away when Sara crouched into the light, the crackers in her outstretched hand. She said nothing at all, simply waiting. Eventually, the braver of the two scuttled over to her, sniffing gently at the crackers. It hesitated, and in the pause the other Rattata squealed before running off. The Rattata at Sara's feet looked up before following suit. Leaving the crackers on the ground, Sara frowned and stood up.

She turned and saw a looming figure not an inch from her. Of course, it went dark after that.

==

Waking up in a dark room was by no means fun. Waking up in a contorted shape, surrounded by other people in pitch blackness was worse. Sara was up against the wall - or, her legs were; her back was on the ground at an angle. At least, she thought so... her entire sense of up and down was still a little haywire after waking up from unconsciousness. Or maybe because it was just that dark. Either way, one half of Sara was pointing in one direction, and the other half was twisted and pointing in another direction. And her leg was bent under her other one, so it had fallen asleep.

Trying not to hit those around her, she gently untangled herself so her back was against what she believed to be the wall. She looked at the opposite wall curiously now. Amongst the blackness, there was a patch that was dotted with a few bright dots...

It took her several moments, and for the lights to twinkle at her, to figure out they were in stars. Sara frowned. Either the window was very narrow and faced the sky, or she was in space. Either way, she saw no exit. Even if there had been, something told her that those locked up in here were supposed to stay here. But for what was the question.

After sitting there for several moments, Sara lost track of time in her thoughts. It was hours (or minutes, she couldn't tell) later when the first legitimate sound was heard. She almost stood, but decided against it. A door opened, and Sara squinted into the light, able to make out a figure. Of course, upon making out the shapes making up the figure, Sara's scowl only increased. To her, there was only one thing they could be... levitating, long arms ending in claws, and blinking lights? Robots. It sounded like something out of a science fiction movie or book, but there was no other reaosnalble explanation. The door closed once more, and the was dark again.

Sara barely had an instant to squeeze her eyes shut just as the voice commanded the lights turned on. She heard a few groans come up with the sudden increase of light, and even she had to grimace. She kept her eyes shut for some time, until she was sure she could open them without blinding herself. Blinking several times, Sara took in the blue-tiled room with an apprehensive eye. Where was this, anyways? She saw people sprawled around her, some still recovering from the blast of light. She sighed once, standing to lean against the wall. These robots better have some answers...

OOC: Oh schnapps. What's a "prodogy" and "tomarrow", Dwtd? XD. If you elect to be captain, my character's probably not going to take your orders seriously. It insinuates such in his personality. =)

A beautiful day was outside the windows at Smogon University's library; many students were studying diligently, some were organizing events in the sections of their dorms, and some were training down in the Metagame Courtyards, mostly the ones who have an occupation as a professional trainer in mind. Aesir didn't mind; he liked the quiet of books and the library; it gave him time to be alone. Behind the large, imposing shelves of books and the numerous platformed desks of the official Smogon library, there was a niche that Aesir often hid and read books for hours on end.

But it was in the Smogon stacks, during a reading spree, that a shadow descended over Aesir. Glancing up, his mind was suddenly filled with a sharp pain as the world faded into the depths of darkness. Aesir attempted to grab on to his consciousness, but slipped, and fell into oblivion.

~~~
Whispers. At first only whispers in the darkness, the warmth that had no light save for some scant residual radiation from spheres of energy millions of miles away. Aesir frowned, sitting down on the cool, porcelain floor, in the darkness. He did not like it; it prevented him from seeing properly and taking an overview of where he was. So, he whispered. Not daring to alarm the others with him (as he felt their presence but they were not visible), he whispered. His eyes were closed. The words of the Holy Book helped him to calm down, as well as to think properly.
"In principio erat Verbum." In the beginning, there was the Word.
"Et Verbum erat apud Deum." And the Word was with God.
"Et Verbum erat Deum." And the Word was God.
Aesir thought about it, and thought again, and mulled over those phrases a countless number of times while the others around him were passing the time idly, a few chatting amiably to each other. Finally, Aesir continued his recall of the verses of John, the verses he was the most familiar with.
"Hoc erat in principio apud Deum. Omnia per ipsum facta sunt, et sine ipso factum est nihil, quod factum est. In ipso vita erat, et vita erat lux hominum. Et lux in tenebris lucet-"
He had only gotten to the fifth verse when light blasted into the room from one side, shocking Aesir's temporarily photosensitive eyes. Aesir winced, and blinked multiple times, annoyed with the short notice but welcoming the light. Suddenly, he smiled, in remembrance of something.
"And the light shineth in the darkness. Indeed it does."
Several robots- no, three were seen by the opening to the chamber that Aesir was in. Aesir squinted, examining their chrome finishes and builds carefully. The machinery whirred and clanked, stating their entrance into the chamber quite clearly and definitively.
Then, as abruptly as it came, the light disappeared.
"-Et tenebrae eam non comprehenderunt. And the darkness understood it not." Aesir grimaced at the loss of his optical senses. Again? He needed to get back to campus. He needed to work on his Pokemon sociology papers.
But lights, bright lights elsewhere, began to flicker into life. Slowly at first, but it was very noticeable, glaring at the group of young people from above. A robotic voice only further served the purpose of an unnecessary explanation for the event. It boomed across the blue tiled square chamber.
"LIGHTS. ON."
