We headed out way too early this morning (the Nurse Joys told me if I was going to sleep in the pokemon center I had to be up and out of there by 10am, that's still the middle of last night!) and soon found the way out of town, hidden in someone's back yard. Apparently a Team Rocket grunt had been sleeping here...and apparently Marceau had snuck out last night and released his pokemon. When he realised this, he wasted no time in jumping a fence and swimming away, dropping a TM in the process. We tried to return it to its rightful owners, but they didn't want it. So I figured we might as well hold on to it. Anyway, we made our way south to Vermillion City with no further interruptions.
After we arrived, I ran around town talking to people. For my efforts I got an old rod(it's actually just a stick and some twine attached with chewing gum), a VS Seeker(I have no idea how this thing works, but apparently it makes trainers aggressive enough to demand a rematch) and a Bike Voucher(More speed!), yay!
With all that out of the way, we boarded the SS Anne. Onboard were a whole bunch of trainers, we made short work of them before heading off to meet with the captain. Unfortunately Gav was there, he went down easily enough but KOd The Blob. [[UGH! One Sand Attack should not have that much of an effect!]] Anyway, we met the captain, rubbed his back 'cause he was seasick and got HM01 for our trouble, awesome!
After leaving the ship, we headed north to cash in that bike voucher. While we were here, we decided to Route 10, where we found Rick the voltorb.
Deciding we might as well check out the Vermillion Gym, we went back. He had us digging through garbage! WHAT. THE. HELL?! I mean, The Blob didn't mind and happily ate all the trash so he can't pull this on anyone else, but still...I hate this guy already. After we dug through his garbage for a while, we came face to face with him, this was going to be eas- wait, why'd Rick come out?
Personality rule: Rick is extremely cocky, he must always be the first pokemon sent out against a gym leader and can not be withdrawn until an opponent faints.
Rick butchered Surge's Pikachu and voltorb. [[EVASION + PARALYSIS I AM TEH LEET SKILLZORLOLOLOL, have I mentioned I hate Surge?]] Anyway, he sent out his Raichu which unfortunately knocked Rick out. The Blob leapt out onto the battlefield and...dissappeared. It looked kinda like he was shrinking, Surge complimented me on using "real" tactics like him. Of course he quickly shut up when the ground below his Raichu was eaten away by The Blob, dropping the rat into the toxic waste pokemon's body...unlike the last time The Blob got like this, I didn't particularly feel like interfering...we got the badge and...after looking through the garbage cans again to find those darn switches, I returned The Blob to his ball and left.
I accidentally ended up overleveled here...
So, after dealing with that we headed north and onto route 10 again, this time, we were going through Rock Tunnel.
After wandering around in the dark for a while, we finally escaped into Lavender Town...this place creeps me out, I think I'm just gonna leave. On the way to our destination, Celadon City, we encountered our newest team member, Yoko the Vulpix.
The moment we entered Celadon City Marceau broke out of his pokeball and ran for the Game Corner. After fighting our way through hordes of grunts (read: Marceau disabled their pokeballs and they ran away crying), we found ourselves on the lowest floor, face to face with Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket. For some reason Marceau couldn't disable his balls, so we had to fight him normally...and Marceau stomped him into the ground anyway. He fled after his defeat, leaving a Silph Scope behind.
With Team Rocket out of the way Marceau had no problem with me gambling. :D So, after a little bit of time with the slots, Rick and Yoko learned Thunderbolt and Flamethrower. Yoko apparently stole my Attract TM at some point too. After this, we took a quick trip to the department store to grab a fire stone. Yeah, Yoko evolved, what of it?
Anyway, with that done we headed into Saffron City on a whim. We found a dojo full of fighting type users, jackpot! Marceau wiped the floor with the trainers and we were rewarded with Jackie, the Hitmonchan. Well, that was just about it for this place for now, so we headed to...-shudder- Lavender Town.
Inside Pokemon tower was the jerk, Gav. He challenged us and *SPOILER ALERT* Rick rolled through his team like they weren't there, and then he evolved. We went up the tower, exorcising some Gastlys that had possessed their trainers. (I never knew they could do that...) Near the top we encountered a ghost...Marowak? "But Marowak's not a ghost type", no, but this one had been killed by Team Rocket. Marceau (Arceus, he's the star of this update, isn't he?) defeated it and allowed its spirit to pass on to the afterlife...or something like that.
On the top floor, Rockets...Marceau quickly showed them what the ground looks like from the 7th story...then the 6th, the 5th, etc. I can't be held responsible for that, can I? >.> Anyway, the only witness, a man called Mr. Fuji actually thanked us for that and gave us something called the pokeflute.
Now then, I decided at this point that I'd put visiting the Celadon gym off for long enough. Yoko and The Blob swept through the trainers in the gym and we soon found ourselves face to face with Erika. She sent out a Victreebel and...Rick jumped out of his pokeball again, unfortunately, he refused to come back and soon his lack of anything effective against grass types led to him being KOd. Now then, on to the way I'd planned for this to go. The Blob destroyed Victreebel, then Yoko cleared up the rest of her team. We got the rainbow badge, thanked Erika and left.
Current Team:
Marceau/Mr. Mime Lv.39
Bold/Soundproof
Must be first on the roster against Team Rocket, can't be withdrawn
-Psybeam
-Magical Leaf
-Substitute
-Light Screen
Due to that rule of his, Marceau hogged a lot of the update, as shown by the 9 level gap between him and most of the other team members. Fortunately he still seems to be going strong. >.>
The Blob/Grimer Lv.30
Adamant/Sticky Hold
Must be sent out when a team member is KOd. Cannot be returned until the pokemon responsible has been KOd
-Sludge
-Secret Power
-Dig
-Screech
Well, he didn't get much screentime in this update because I didn't want him going over Erika's 29 before we got there, sure enough Victreebel pushed him over. Still awesome and due to evolve in 8 levels.
Rick/Electrode Lv.30
Mild/Soundproof
Must be first on the roster against gym leaders and can't be withdrawn until something faints
-Sonicboom
-Shock Wave
-Thunderbolt
-Charge
He swept my rival in Pokemon Tower, maybe that's because Thunderbolt's a bit OP at this point, but I've gotta give some credit to his amazing speed, it even surpasses Marceau's despite the level gap.
Yoko/Ninetales Lv.30
Serious/Flash Fire
???
-Flamethrower
-Will-O-Wisp
-Attract
-Quick Attack
She's a fire-type, her screentime in this update was in a grass gym. Of course she did well. I'm kinda disappointed that Ninetales apparently isn't allowed to use the Solarbeam TM until Gen VI, but oh well.
Jackie/Hitmonchan Lv.25
Rash/Keen Eye
???
-Comet Punch
-Mach Punch
-Agility
-Pursuit
Well, he didn't get any action this update, but I'm really looking forward to using him against...um...Lorelei? I don't think there's much in this game that a fighting type is useful against.
