Gender: The one with the dangly parts.
Personality: In a word, Roan is shy. In several words, he avoids aggressive conflict as much as he can, as well as eye contact and even small talk with people that he does not know. However, he can be a loud, stubborn and determined soul who will not give up a fight if someone is in danger.
After warming up to someone, he is a likable, soft spoken person who loves to keep people safe, even at risk to himself. He is a little impulsive at times, but it is usually for a good reason. He also loves to carve wood sculptures of people, plants and even pokemon that he sees in his dreams, but he hasn't had much of a chance to do so since he struck out on his own.
History: When Roan was born, he was whisked away to a temple in the mountains that was far from his birthplace in Saffron City. He met no pokemon there, but was trained by the young martial arts master who lived there in many forms of combat.
Roan grew up not knowing who his parents were, or that there were many people outside of his home and he was happy that way. His life would have remained on that path, but fate had other plans...
When he was about fifteen, he entered a rather rebellious phase. Well, rebellious for him. He decided that he was tired of living on the temple grounds and snuck out to see the forests. At first, he was enamoured by the natural beauty all around him, but he soon learned the mistake that he made by leaving when he found himself face to face with a hitmonchan! Without a word, the punching pokemon leapt at him. Roan closed his eyes. Was this how it was going to end?
But no blow was struck. As Roan nervously looked up, he saw that the creature had been knocked out by none other than his dad! Acknowledging that leaving had been a stupid idea, the two returned home, but that was not to be then end of Roan's adventures, not by a long shot...
During a particularly dry summer, a fire sprang up in the forest that surrounded the temple. It was such a huge fire that Roan panicked. How could they get off the mountain before the fire reached them?
His master soon began to fill buckets of water. "Well come on, that fire's not going to put itself out!" he called out as he too began to do what he could to keep the flames at bay.
After several hours, the fire began to die down. As they cleaned up the area, a tree began to fall right towards Roan! Rather than get out of the way, he reached up and stopped the tree from falling before even a leaf touched the ground! After dropping the tree next to him in shock, he just stood there, staring at his hands. Had he really done that? Once the danger was well and truely gone, Roan confronted the man he thought was his father.
When Roan recieved the pokeball that contained his power, he knew that staying where he was wasn't an option. Even though it scared him, the big wide world was waiting for him and he wasn't going to just stand around let it wait. He has yet to open the seal, mostly because he is afraid that he might lose control of his power if he did. However, he knows that the time will come when will have to...
Appearance: Under his short blonde hair, Roan's honey brown eyes look out into a world that he doesn't understand. His clothes are ordinary, consisting of a plain white t-shirt, jeans, a large brown backpack, and bare feet. He wears a pair of thick glasses which he is more or less blind without, but that doesn't stop him from running headlong into insane situations where he could get himself hurt.
He doesn't have much else to make him stick out from other folks, aside from a small limp in his walk, caused by the fact that one of his legs is slightly shorter than the other.
Miscellaneous: Roan is highly allergic to poke`nip. Even the smell of the stuff is enough to make him break out in hives!
He also loves to cook, but forgot to pack more than a small saucepan when he left.

RP Sample: Roan had been curious about who his parents were, ever since his 'father' had sat him down and given him the 'pidgeys and the beedrill' talk. However, he never got a straight answer, no matter how many times he asked. Soon enough, he just accepted that his parents, whoever they were, must be dead now.
As he grew, he displayed a skill in many martial arts, even to the point where he could break apart roof tiles with ease-he was quickly scolded for this, since those things are expensive! Still, he grew in power and strength, unaware that he was freakishly strong for his age. When he wasn't training, odds were that he would either be daydreaming or carving something with his trusty hammer and chisel.
After his rebellious phase came the fire. After he got over the shock of nearly losing his home and somehow stopping a tree from falling on his head and killing him, his dad sat him down.
"Roan, you've been like a son to me."
"Like a son? You mean..."
"That's right. Your parents asked me to care for you, because..." and soon enough, Roan knew the truth-he was some kind of pokemon-human...thing! Well, he didn't entirely understand it, but the point was that he had a great deal of power and that the strange ball-thing that he had been given contained even more power.
"I won't open it...not just yet, but what should I do?"
"See the world. There's a destiny waiting for you that not even I can foretell, but you'll know it when you see it."
"But there are wild poke`mon in the tall grass!" Roan exclaimed. He didn't want to leave his home, especially after the hitmonchan incident. Even the thought of what lurked outside horrified him, but to actually GO there?
"You'll be fine. You've practically surpassed me in every way. If you want to get stronger, you'll have to leave. I believe in you."
Roan closed his eyes. "I understand. The idea of leaving here is scary, but at the same time, it's exciting. I will get stronger, then I'll come back here and tell you all about it!" With those words, he ran to his room and began to pack.
