A fairly tall young man, Tiraq stands at about six-foot-three. He has a rather muscular build, but is still quite nimble and agile for his larger size. On his body there are markings made from red dye, a circle around his neck and two stripes on each side of his ribs. These come from his tribal background and were part of a tradition passed down through it. His eyes are a blue color that almost looks grey in the strong sunlight of the Flying Kingdom. There always seems to be a smile on his face, showing off his bright white teeth. His skin tone is a light tan color, which is contrasts greatly with his hair. The head of hair that the young man sports is a mane of feather-like white hair. It's mixed with shades of red and grey feathers that spread down his arms, that also function as wings.
Clothing wise, he stays true to his tribal roots. Tiraq prefers to wear the simple clothes that he grew up wearing. A dark red poncho with a yellow stripe and blue frills at the bottom is what is usually worn upon his back. When the temperature becomes unbearably hot, he will wrap it around his waist and go around shirtless. Paired with that is a baggy pair of black pants, made from specially spun silk. They cut off right below his knees, where his legs are wrapped around until his feet. There he wears a pair of tan leather sandles. When he's out on his "business" he doesn't do too much to hide the fact that he's the one committing crimes. The only change in outfit that he makes is a bird mask that was worn at festivals back in his clan.4
Hated by the rich and loved by the poor, Tiraq is a strikingly kind and outspoken person. His loud voice and excessive speaking borders on the line of being obnoxious, but somehow there's a certain charm about him that draws people in. While not highly educated, and being quite the talker, he's actually considerably intelligent. He's incredibly street smart and is a fast thinker, which can get him out of quite a few bad situations. Although he is a benign young man, the flying type absolutely hates selfish and greedy individuals. So much so, that hatred spurred him to become the famous thief that he became later in his life.
While there is that intelligence in him, he's much more of a doer than a thinker, jumping into action before planning things out, and coming up with a plan while going through with it. This shows prominently when Tiraq decides to stay in the capital of the city, and dedicate his life to the people while he lost all his friends and family from his tribe. One of an upper status may call him "uncultured" but being raised in a society away from the rest of civilization, he was bound to be different from the elite society of aristocrats in the city. While he does all these things above all Tiraq is a lighthearted man that loves having fun and the thrills of the way he helps those in need.
Born in a tribe of Braviary gijinka, Tiraq grew up far away from the "normal" society that was the cities. They lived a less civilized lifestyle, hunting their own food, skinning their own clothes, and doing things that the city folks wouldn't even dream of. Even from a young age, he loved the way things were there. The physical way of life was perfectly suited towards his energetic personality and robust body. He thrived there, always being the one able to fly the highest, catch the most fish, gather the most grain. Everyone there loved him and he loved everyone there.
The time came on his seventeenth birthday to partake on a journey around the kingdom to show that he had become a man. It was a rather common tradition among the tribe to send out their young men to prove themselves as adults. Each participant was given one mentor, to help them along their quest. In Tiraq's case that guide would be his cousin, Kyrie. The two set out on the younger man's journey the date of his birth. Their first stop would be the capital of the Flying Kingdom, Urana.
A city built of stone, Gothic architecture and long winding gravel roads make up Urana. When first entering it's mile-high gates, Tiraq immediately noticed that on the sides of the roads were dozens of unsightly gijinka. Many sat rattling their cups, begging passerbys to spare a bit of change. Some just lay in their own filth, too tired or starving to get up. Looking back and forth at the crowd of people that surged forwards towards the center of the city, he became rather confused. He opened his mouth to ask what was going on, but Kyrie just gave him a light pat on the back. "Some people are just less privileged than others... It's a fact of life around here."
The two carried on, with Tiraq completely bewildered as to why no one would aid the less fortunate that populated the outer areas of the city. One of the few regulations of the tribe was to treat everyone equally, and be compassionate and kind to one another. As they neared the center of the capital, the number of paupers decreased significantly. The buildings they passed by grew cleaner and more elegant with every step. While he usually would have been amazed at the magnificent sites that Urana held, he couldn't help but think back to the numbers of starving, underprivileged gijinka that had been crammed together, looking for just a morsel of food.
As he lay on his silk bed located in an upper class inn, he decided he should do at least something about it. He got up in the darkness and fitted himself with a tribal bird mask that he had always worn at the festivals back home. Tiraq crept silently from his room and snuck downstairs where an empty kitchen lay. He knew that while they could use it, it wasn't money that the poor needed. Quietly he hopped over the kitchen counter and found ten loaves of bread that were to be used for tomorrow's breakfast. "Forgive me." A grin spread across his face as he grabbed them and sped out the door without a sound.
As soon as he hit the cool moonlight of the night, Tiraq burst into the air. His wings spread as he searched for anyone in need of his assistance. With a few flaps of his arms, he advanced towards the outer walls at a rapid rate. When he came upon the colony of homeless beggars that he had first seen all but one gijinka were asleep. There was only a child, a pidgey gijinka, that was still awake. The now vigilante, approached the young boy. "Can I trust you to share these with all your friends here?" Tiraq asked as he held out the loaves of bread. In bewilderment and excitement, the boy rapidly shook his head up and down. Smiling as he did, the masked man handed them over.
Before he could take off, the boy grabbbed his leg. "What's your name, sir?" Trying to rack his brain for something that wouldn't give him away, he came up with an idea that made him grin from ear to ear. There was an old fairy tale that his parents had read to him as a child. It told of a Weavile, cleverer than a Fennekin, faster than a Ninjask. This Weavile would steal from the rich and give to the poor. His name? "It's Robin Hood." Tiraq rustled the feather's on the boy's head and then took flight, all while the lad stood on with a look of amazement.
As he lay in bed after the whole fiasco, Tiraq couldn't help, but feel a sense of satisfaction and excitement overwhelm him. It took him a couple long hours to fall asleep, but soon the sound of an angry innkeeper woke him. While she couldn't figure out who had taken the bread she had a hunch that it was one of the patrons that was staying there. All he could do was stifle a fit of laughter as she went from each room looking for the culprit.
Later in the day on his own, Tiraq checked up on the group that had received the bread the night before. While they didn't look particularity amazing, they seemed much better than they had the day before. A look of contentment found itself on the gijinka's face as he could hear tales of a real life Robin Hood being circulated amongst the colony of beggars. With one last look over his shoulder he swooped up into the sky, intending to rejoin Kyrie and continue his journey across the kingdom.
But he couldn't do it. Something held him back. Perhaps he felt that he owed something to these people, that the one act of grace would give the beggars a false hope. Whatever it was, it stopped Tiraq in his tracks. Then he just stood there on the corner of a street, thinking through what he should do. Instantly, he knew what he had to do. He hurried back to the inn which he and Kyrie had been staying in. He scribbled down a note and gave it to the innkeeper, asking her to give it to his cousin. The second that she gave a perplexed nod, he sped out the doors.
Once again he found himself standing on the outskirts of the city. The community of panhandlers still begging for money. He slowly approached them. "Hey there mind if I join you folks?" They looked on in confusion as the braviary gijinka in clean clothes sat by them with his belongings stuffed into a bag on his back. "Tough times eh?" Across the road sat the boy who Tiraq had given the loaves of bread to. He gave out a gasp before almost exclaiming. He stopped himself when he was the man put a finger up to his lips and winked. Understanding what he meant, the child gave a grin and nodded vigorously.
Tiraq fit in with the group in no time. He told stories and joked with even the most cold hearted of the crowd. By the end of the day it had felt like he had been with the crew his entire life. However as they lay on their bags, falling asleep, he couldn't help but feel some apprehension towards what he was doing. It was rather stupid really. He was giving up his friends and family from the tribe to become these people's salvation. The night sky shimmered as he got up without a sound. He slipped his mask on as he shot up into the sky, looking for the group's next source of food.
That night it was a deli, the next it was a bakery, every night Tiraq would sneak out and loot the upper class of the capital for food and gold. Eventually he began spreading the food amongst even more colonies of starving gijinka and the legend of this modern day Robin Hood spread around. As time went on, the heists grew even more elaborate and the nobles grew even more wary. They went to their queen crying out that she punish this evil doer, but no one knew who this vigilante was. It seemed that nobody could catch the masked man in the act of doing anything. Queen Chance, tired of hearing about the beggar's guardian angel put a bounty on his head. Five million golden shackles were to be given to whoever organized his arrest.
The problem was that not a single person knew who this "Robin Hood" was. That is no one, but Donny. The young pidgey gijinka that had met Tiraq on his first night out had become the latter's partner in crime, often picking out his next target and scouting for him. Every once in a blue moon, the lad would even be allowed to plan out the entire heist for him. Once the boy heard of this bounty he fell into the temptation. He knew that Tiraq trusted him and did good for the entire community, but he couldn't help dreaming of those millions of golden coins. So, he went to the queen herself and organized a trap that his friend would never see coming.
One night Donny planned out an entire theft for Tiraq to pull off. He was to break into a famous creamery near the center of town and take a bit of gold and a bag full of Urana's greatest dairy products. It was a simple plan, which he liked so he agreed upon it. Little did Mr. Robin Hood know that he was going to be robbing a building full of royal guards that would be waiting for him. He did his normal routine, waiting until everyone fell asleep, then flew to his destination. The back lock was easily dispatched and the clueless mouse crept right into the cat's mouth. As soon as he slipped inside, a host of soldiers jumped on him, screaming that he not make a move. Completely bewildered he complied and lay still, slowly realizing what had happened. A couple moments later he was transported to the royal castle's dungeons.
And with that the Robin Hood was stopped. The flow of food that had been supplied to the groups of homeless gijinka had suddenly halted. They soon began to starve again, but Tiraq and Donny were never seen around those parts again.
Tiraq was kept in the dungeon's for to him what felt like months, but one day Queen Chance herself came to visit. She told him of the Unknown Lands and the decision that all the kingdoms had come up with. She did not want to risk sending one of her best men into the wasteland that she feared so much, so she was to send him. The unknown hero of the people. She tried to act as kind as she could and even promised to give the gijinka a hero's escort and farewell, but he said it was not necessary. He said he would go on just the condition that those that inhabited the slums of Urana were to be fed and assisted. She promised on her life that she would and with that Tiraq was given a bow and sent to journey with the other tributes sent by each kingdom.
The queen never fulfilled her promise. Many homeless colonies starved to death, and Donny was given a sword in the back instead of the golden coins he had so desired.
