Fargona:
The Land of Dragons

Story
800 years ago, when sorcerers and Dragon Tamers both thrived in Fargona, there was one especially powerful sorcerer named Rand Lorcend in the service of the king. One would think that Lorcend and his family would be proud of his position; however, it was not so. Lorcend came from a long line of Dragon Tamers, and when it was discovered that he did not share the bond with dragons the rest of his family did, they looked down upon him. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how great his magical abilities, nothing could ever change that he was not like them. Eventually, he began searching for a way to turn himself into a Dragon Tamer, using his place in the kingdom as a way to gain more knowledge.
Lorcend soon became consumed by his desire to please his hateful family, and that obsession quickly became a lust for power. Now, instead of just searching for a way to become a Tamer, he set his sights on the bonding with the most powerful dragon in all of Fargona: Skolgar. The icy dragon of the mountains was brought to his attention when it went on a rampage throughtout the continent, revealing its absolute might; what better way for Lorcend to impress his family than to take control of the one dragon none had ever Tamed?
Thus, while continuing to put up a facade of usefulness to the kingdom, he continued his research behind the scenes and undiscovered. He was, after all, a very careful man and would trust only himself to capture the wild dragons he required, and it was he would take them to the mountains in secrecy to lock them away for experimentation. How he ever managed to transport the beasts without help, no one is quite sure; for that matter, the lair where he kept them was never found.
The years flew by, and finally, the time came when Lorcend's work came to a finish; he had developed a spell that would allow him to bond with the mighty Skolgar, Dragon Tamer or not. The spell, however, would require a large amount of magic; enough to totally drain every magic user - including Dragon Tamers - in all of Fargona, in fact. If anything, this just pleased him all the more as it meant he would be greater than the family that had scorned him all of his life. The moment preparations were finished, he enacted his plan.
Throughout Fargona, sorcerers and Dragon Tamers alike collapsed to the ground as their magic was forcibly removed; many Dragon Tamers and their bonded dragons lost their minds or even died from the shock of losing the magic that held their connection together. Human magic users were not the only victims; many dragons fell prey to the spell as well, though most were able to hold onto small amounts of their magic. Still, the species suffered greatly, especially dragons such as the elementals who required magic to live.
Unfortunately, there was no way for the catastrophe to be traced back to Lorcend. The spell lasted for a total of a week, and it only ended because Lorcend could hold no more magical energy within his being. The amount of magic within him at that time was like a flare to those still powerful enough to possess and sense magic; the great Dragon Lords. The Dragon Lords, never before seen by the human eye, appeared on that day and followed the scent of magic to the Tonumskel Mountains. There, they came upon Lorcend in the lair of the sleeping Skolgar, attempting to use his new found powers to bond with the terrifying beast. However, his attempts failed as the slumbering dragon's mind rejected his.
Enraged that all of his efforts had gone to waste, he would have lashed out the surrounding land and no doubt rampaged throughout Fargona if the Dragon Lords had not been there to stop him. With the vast amount of magic they still possessed, they fought tirelessly with Lorcend; however, with Lorcend possessing the magic of all those within Fargona, neither side was able to gain the upper hand. Finally, the Dragon Lords knew there was only one way to bring an end to the battle. With the last of their magic, they used an ancient spell of purification that was able to seep past Lorcend's defenses. It tore him apart from the inside out, leaving him nothing but dust to be blown away on the wind. When the ashes of the defeated sorcerer disappeared, the Dragon Lords were nowhere to be seen and the icy cavern in which Skolgar slept was once again sealed.
Though Rand Lorcend was no more, the magic he had drained from the land was lost with him. In the following years, sorcerers and Dragon Tamers became a thing of legend; until today.
Plot
After all these years, magic is slowly beginning to return. Sorcerers, though no where near as powerful as their counterparts from the past, are beginning to flourish once again. Forgotten spells are being uncovered and relearned. There are even rumors of Dragon Tamers, though there is little proof that these rumors are true.
Not all is well, however. While magic has slowly been rising once again for the past 5 decades, there are those who remember the old stories of Rand Lorcend and fear that another may try what he did; because of this, they fear and shun any form of magic. That's just the tip of the iceberg, though. In the past year, sorcerers have been dropping dead where they stand, with no signs of ailment within or without their bodies. Those who fear the return of magic wonder if perhaps they dabbled in some dark, evil spell that took their life; others believe that some outside source is causing their deaths, though they can't say what it could be.
The dragons are becoming restless as well, in more ways than one. While some are simply nervous and always seem to be watching for something, there have also been multiple incidents where a dragon has attacked the human population without either warning or reason. Even the normally peaceful fae have been found guilty of maiming innocent travelers. Stranger than this, however, is that some strange sickness seems to be taking the lives of many dragons.
With the deaths piling up, King Johar has been spurred into action. It is his belief that the Dragon Tamers, the bridges between humans and dragons, hold the key to putting an end to these incidents and discovering the reason behind them. Thus, his Majesty has sent his own Royal Guard out to investigate the rumors of Dragon Tamers, so that he may recruit them to his cause.
Who Are You?
The rumors of Dragon Tamers returning are true, and you are one of those Dragon Tamers. Whether or not you have already discovered this for yourself, your Bond is on its way to you; or perhaps you have already found each other.
Terminology and Lore
Map of Fargona
Issathon- This is the largest and most heavily fortified fortress. With walls that tower over a hydra's head and spires that reach the clouds, it is indeed a grand yet intimidating sight. Inner walls are thick enough for two drakes to walk side-by-side and is 50 feet higher than the outer walls that protects the homes of the commoners. The outer walls are only half as thick and stand just about 30 feet above a full grown hydra's head. Issathon is where King Johar Ulond dwells with his advisers and other important members of the court. The Royal Guard is also stationed here.
Arddyn- The castle of this fortress is small when compared to the ones of the other fortresses. Within the inner walls and surrounding the castles are large, fortified complexes that house dragons. Only people who aren't afraid of losing their lives to a loose dragon live here, along with the dragon trainers. There isn't much of an army here, but the dragons more than make up for it. People come from all over Fargona to buy dragons that have been trained here. Lord Catos Boutheret rules here.
Honim- This is the trading center of Fargona. Its market place is always flooded with buyers and sellers as many traders come here to sell their goods. The Lord of the castle is Talach Lolinnor.
Banloress- This fortress is home to the academy where knight's are trained. It is ruled over by Lord Ferand Oborgon, with the captain of the Royal Guard, Hallum Ebboter, also having a hand in the ruling. Banloress is the second most well defended castle, seeing as it's occupants are mostly knights or knights-in-training with there being very few commoners.
Skelsaugh- The people of this village have learned how to survive in the unforgiving northern region of Fargona while also making a profit by selling the thick furs of the animals that live in the frozen climate.
Itim- This village specializes in trading with other countries. Most of the goods that are sent off from here are furs and lumber. Because of the chilly climate, farming isn't possible here so most of the inhabitants are fishers and sailors.
Lyeydra- With the help of dragons, the people of this village mine the valuable minerals and metals within the mountains. The main forms of employment are mining, smithing, and stone carving.
Oslermor- There are many temples scattered throughout this village, dedicated to dragon worship. Dragons here are treated like royalty and it is considered unlawful to harm a dragon in any way.
Ormvorit- With frequent rain and good, nutrient filled soil, this village has very good land for farming many crops. Though Remok and Anver also have good soil for farming, it is widely agreed that the best produce comes from Ormvorit.
Remok- Unlike Ormvorit which brings forth a variety of crops, the people of Remok focus solely on grains, which they then use to bake their delectable breads and cakes that are especially popular with the nobles.
Anver- Another farming town, the people of Anver mostly grow orchards, producing some of the juiciest fruits in all of Fargona.
Raddyn- This village was created as more of a place for travelers to rest and stock up on supplies before starting toward Arddyn. The people live off of the land, hunting the many mountain goats that roam the area and using their hair for clothing.
Ridan- Like Itim, Ridan is a trading town from which ships are constantly coming and going, though the exports that leave this village are usually made up of grains and fruits, as well as silky cloths from the Kin'unda. The people of this village do some farming, though the majority are fishers.
Arban- This village was created for the same purpose as Raddyn; as a way-point for weary travelers coming from or going to Oldkin desert.
Kin'unda- The majority of the people in this village are dark-skinned and wear clothing that covers their entire bodies to protect themselves from the harsh sunlight. One may think that there is little profit to be made in such an environment, but Kin'unda is one of the richest villages in Fargona. They harvest certain types of edible cacti, and the women of the village are magnificent weavers that use materials ranging from snake skin to bird feathers.
Ormild- This tropical village isn't the most productive, but the people are bound very closely together. They don't interact much with the rest of Fargona, except to send coffee beans and sugar to the inhabitants of the mainland.
Mt. Damor- It was once an active volcano, but became dormant many centuries ago. At the very peak there are the ruins of an ancient temple that was made to honor the dragons.
Gardar Beach- Little is known about Gardar Beach, as dragons have always prevented humans from exploring it. Dragons uncommon to the region have been found in the surrounding areas, however, so it is believed that dragons see Gardar Beach as some kind of sanctuary.

The Dragon Lords
Spoiler:
Dragon Tamers are humans who possess a very specific kind of magic that allows them to bond closely with dragons and handling dragons comes naturally to them. For each Dragon Tamer, there is one dragon that is specifically fitted to the them, even if the two may seem to be polar opposites; this is the only dragon that can truly bond with the Dragon Tamer. This dragon is known as the Dragon Tamer's Bond.
While the Bonding isn't usually done consciously, a Bond usually knows when it has found its Tamer and will follow it around until the Bonding begins. Once the Bonding is initiated - often requiring no more than a simple thought toward the other - it's like a floodgate is opened. Emotions pour both ways along the connection, from Tamer to Bond and from Bond to Tamer. This sudden over pouring of emotions commonly leads to both falling into a shocked and befuddled state for the next few days as they learn to cope with the emotions they receive through the newly formed link. Once the Bonding is completed, the Bond and the Tamer will be able to communicate their emotions to one another more easily, and this eventually becomes their way of communication. Though no words can be spoken through the link, once enough time has been spent together, they can understand each other perfectly. This bond cannot be broken even by death; if one were to die, their spirit would still remain in this world and their partner will be still be able to sense them. Only when both Bond and Tamer die can both spirits move on from this world.
While Dragon Tamers possess large amounts of magic, the strange nature of their magic allows only for a small amount of it to be used. The rest of their magic is inaccessible to them, as it is needed to keep the link with their Bond strong. Because of this, the spells they are able to perform are rather limited and weak.

Dracoism
Spoiler:
The most widespread religion in all of Fargona, Dracoism is the worship of dragons; more specifically, the worship of the Dragon Lords. Dragons are seen as vassals of the Dragon Lords, and are treated with the highest respect. No true Dracoist would ever do harm to a dragon or force a dragon into doing any kind of labor. When a dragon is injured or ill, they consider it their duty to heal it. For this reason, they commonly study healing and common dragon ailments; in more recent years, they've taken to healing spells as well.
While Dracoists and their temples can be found in every corner of Fargona, they are centered in Oslermor. The reason for this is that it is the closest town to Mt. Damor. Mt. Damor is considered a holy place by Dracoists, and once a week a Dracoist priest climbs to the top of the dormant volcano to leave offerings of food at the ruins for the Dragon Lords. Milk is commonly left as a offering, since it is known to be a favorite of many dragons and has a calming effect on them.
Dracoists also believe that the Dragon Lords will return one day soon, and that they are the reason magic is now returning to Fargona.

Skolgar
Spoiler:
Skolgar is said to have had the appearance of a gigantic drake without flesh, being formed of nothing but bones and large leathery wings riddled with holes. The stories say that it was larger than even the colossal hydra and was surrounded by an eternal frost with an icy breath to match. According to legend, Skolgar was the only dragon that was truly immortal, as it was unable to be killed even by the most powerful spells. It was, however, a peaceful dragon that resided within the Tonumskel Mountains and didn't bother humans as long as they didn't bother it.
Things would have remained so, except that one foolish human got lost in the wintry mountains. While the Tonumskel Mountains were usually avoided, this weary traveler had lost his way after being set upon by a pack of tatzelwurm. When he came upon a cave, he sheltered there and found a dragon egg the kind of which he had never seen within. It was larger than he was, with a frosty white shell that felt as if it was made of ice. The traveler made plans then and there to return the first chance he got and collect the egg if it was still there; surely he could get a hefty price for it.
He returned to the cavern with a team of men a few weeks after; the cave was empty as it had been before, with the egg still unhatched much to his delight. Working with the dragons they had brought with them, the men succeeded in carrying the egg away; little did they know the price Fargona would pay for their actions.
When Skolgar returned to find its egg gone, for it had been its egg that the men had taken, it was thrown into a fury. With only the scent of humans and strange dragons left surrounding the place its egg had once lain, Skolgar struck out at the nearby towns. Its destructive reach grew rapidly thereafter as it searched desperately for its lost egg while dealing judgement on the humans that had stolen from it. Many were killed in the following days, and there was little anyone could do to stop the fearsome beast as it swept inland. The king finally called together the mightiest Dragon Tamers and sorcerers at his disposal, and they were gradually able to force Skolgar back to its home in the Tonumskel mountains. As it was impossible for them to kill Skolgar, they instead placed a powerful spell on the dragon that sent it into a deep sleep; they then sealed away the cavern the immortal dragon slept in so that none would stumble upon it and awaken it.
Few believe that Skolgar ever really existed, yet they still avoid the Tonumskel Range; it's easier to deny the legend from the safer roads.

The Dragon Lords
Spoiler:
The Dragon Lords are fabled to be the most powerful of the dragons, and have only been seen by mankind once: when they fought against the sorcerer Rand Lorcend. While there is much argument about which dragons compose the Dragon Lords, it is most commonly believed that they are these 10: an amphisbaena; a bakunawa; a lung; a drake; a fae; a kirin; a quetzalcoatl; a longma; and a zomok. How these dragons appear, however, is unknown; most cannot accept that they take on the same appearance as their inferiors.
As the legends go, the Dragon Lords were the first dragons to come to this world from another unknown world. The Dragon Lords were pleased with this world and created Fargona to be their home, which is why the continent has the appearance of a dragon. They then summoned their brethren to live with them in this land, where they could live freely in a world made for them.
As the years went by, however, the dragons seemed to seek the company of some other -species; thus, the Dragon Lords brought humans to Fargona. Once they were satisfied with the way things were, the Dragon Lords retreated to watch over Fargona from afar, unseen and unnoticed.

Whether it's hunting or fighting or anything in between, both minds work as one; but when there's food to eat, they bicker and fight over which head gets what. Each head controls its half of the body, so if they decided to go opposite ways it could end in disaster for the dragon. The eyes of an amphisbaena glow bright enough to light up whatever is before them, and their eyes are typically shades of purple, yellow, or green. Males have a set of horns on their foremost head. Amphisbaenas can grow to be up to 7 feet in length. Amphisbaenas are always two separate colors; one half being one color, and the other half being another color. These are usually dull colors such as brown, gray, black, and white.
Amphisbaenas are impervious to the cold, which suits them well considering nights in the desert can be quite chilly. They can be found in the Oldkin desert, where they are able to move swiftly through the sand as if it were nothing more than water. They use this ability to ambush their prey by approaching them swiftly from beneath the sand then striking without warning. A bite from their fangs sends a chill through the body, and the wound quickly ices over. An amphisbaena will bite its victim multiple times to freeze it as much as possible, thereby making it easier to kill.
When an amphisbaena dies, its body retains its magic. Because of this, wearing the scales of an amphisbaena can make a human nearly as immune to the cold as one of the serpents; it can also cure ailments such as arthritis and the common cold.

*Bakunawa*
Spoiler:
While it may appear to be nothing more than a giant fish at first glance, bakunawas are in reality serpentine. Reaching nearly 13 feet in length, bakunawas have very wide mouths full of sharp teeth; they are able to open their jaws to four times their normal width. They eat anything they can get their mouths on, even humans.
Bakunawas live in the deepest depths of the ocean and rarely come to the surface. The only time hoards of bakunawas can be seen near the surface is during the solar eclipse, which is the time they choose to lay their eggs. When the egg is lain, it must sink all the way to the bottom of the ocean, undergoing changes in pressure as it sinks deeper, before it can hatch. For the entirety of this process, the mother and father swim alongside the egg tirelessly to protect it from predators.
There have been rare instances where the occasional bakunawa can be seen flying overhead. This is usually because they were caught by a current and swept away from their territory and they are now making their way back as quickly as they can; a bakunawa protects its territory with its life. A bakunawa is able to make an insanely high leap out of the water, hundreds of feet into the air. Once airborne, they use their large fins to glide through the air. Using this technique, they are able to travel incredibly long distances; before taking off, however, they fill their bodies with water so they don't suffocate up in the air. If they are to land on dry ground, they are quick to search out the nearest moisture to sustain themselves, before slithering the rest of the way home.

Basilisk
Spoiler:
This odd mixture between between a chicken and a lizard is fairly small, only growing to be about 2 feet tall. They aren't able to fly very far or high, but can move quickly and silently. The wattle and comb of a male basilisk are more prominent than a female's, whose is barely noticeable. Their scales are varying shades of gold and green. Basilisks prey on chickens and the eggs and young of other dragons; if they are desperate enough for food, they may eat berries or nuts, though it isn't enough to sustain them for long.
The eggs of a basilisk are nearly completely identical to a chickens. The only difference between the two is that the egg of a basilisk is slightly more spherical and does not possess a yolk until the moment just before it hatches. Basilisks often smuggle their eggs into chickens' nests; if the egg hatches successfully, it will feast on the chicks. Basilisks grow rapidly immediately after hatching, reaching the size of a full grown chicken in only a few minutes. Once it reaches this size, its rate of growth will slow considerably; it will take another year for it to grow to its full size. This mechanism allows it to defend itself more easily, as young basilisks must fend for themselves.
Staring into a basilisk's eyes causes total paralysis. Once its eyes move elsewhere, movement will be recovered but the victim will acquire short term memory loss, leaving it confused. The basilisk uses this befuddlement to its advantage and either attacks or flees.

Dracotaur
Spoiler:
Dracotaurs have developed their own language of growls and hisses that only their kind can understand. They are clever and merciless and battle, something they enjoy greatly; many have even taken to copying humans by using discarded spears and swords. They grow to be an average of 7 feet tall and 10 feet long. Their tail, while used mostly for balance, can also be a dangerous weapon. Scales varying in color from green to brown cover their bodies; male also possess completely red heads. While they may not look it, dracotaurs are expert swimmers; they can also jump quite high into the air. A dracotaur is born with only four limbs and appears to be nothing more than a large lizard. It takes 4 years for a dracotaur's torso and arms to fully develop, during which time they stay close to their mothers.
They live in small, nomadic groups throughout Fargona; these groups are ruled over by the strongest member and his mate. While they rarely remain in one place for long, they often lay claim to specific areas which they protect against any who come near. When they set their sights on a particular prey, they set up strategic ambushes and plans to bring it down. Never give a dracotaur reason to seek revenge, otherwise it will hunt you down until it has successfully killed you.
Dracotaurs excrete an oil that keeps their scales supple and repels water; this oil is coveted by tanners for use in the making of leather armor. Dracotaurs can spit out a sticky adhesive that ignites when exposed to the air. This fire dies soon after hitting its target, however. It is not uncommon for dracotaurs to dabble in magic, and many know some simple spells.

Dragonne
Spoiler:
The scales of a dragonne are razor sharp, with only the silky fur surrounding their feet and face being safe to touch. On males, the scales around the neck stick out like a lion's mane, bristling when the dragonne is irritated or trying to intimidate a foe. They grow to be an average of 12 feet long and are lean and meant more for quick strikes than head on fights. The color of their eyes matches that of their scales. They have near-perfect night vision, so fighting them in the dark is unwise. The roar of a dragonne weakens the mind and body of those who hear it, leaving them vulnerable to the dragon's deadly claws and fangs.
Dragonnes roam the Oldkin desert in large prides, though they occasionally wander further to the east into the mountains in search of better prey. They are highly territorial, though they will give intruders the chance to flee before attacking viciously. They live mostly off of animals such as camels and goats, as well as preying on domestic herds. They very rarely attack humans, unless said human is within their territory.

Drake
Spoiler:
While their appearances vary greatly, all drakes have the same basic anatomical structure: a thick body with a long, winding tail, four sturdy legs, a snake-like neck, and large wings. The average drake grows to be about 20 feet long. Drakes come in shades of white, brown, red, blue, orange, purple, green, black, yellow, and gray; sometimes they are a mixture of more than a single color. The eyes of a drake change color according to their mood: black for anger, red for fear or caution, yellow for contentment, blue for sadness, and white for trust. While drakes don't usually live with others of their kind, they do enjoy the company of fellow drakes and territories often overlap so they may meet. When in a fight, drakes will often team up to take down the enemy; if the battle is not going well, however, they know when to flee.
Drakes possess an extra pair of lungs in which they contain their magic; this magic is what they use to create their fiery breath. A drake's breath, however, is not always hot; it all depends on what region they are native to. Drakes from the northwestern regions of Fargona have fire that freezes instead of burns; drakes from the southeast have a scalding hot breath. No matter where the drake is from, however, they can exhale smoke as well as flames.

Elemental
Spoiler:
Elementals are practically made up of magic as it is what gives them life and holds their bodies together, and using too much of that magic can kill them. An adult elemental is about 10 feet long. They are similar to wyverns in that they have two legs and a pair of wings, but elementals are more snake-like and prefer to slither along the ground rather than walk. While they aren't very strong, elementals are swifter than most dragons.
- Lava- Lava elementals live deep in volcanoes and eat rocks or fire rather than meat. Their favorite snack is a hardened blob of magma. Their insides are made up entirely of hot magma and fire, with igneous rock forming a thick crust to hold it all together. Even through the hardened rock that protects it, a hot red glow is visible. They attack by blasting lava out of their maws, much like a volcano erupting, and they can heat the air around them by fanning their wings.Spoiler:
- Water- Water elementals usually live in rivers, lakes, or bays and rarely come on shore, even though they can survive just as well on land. Within, they are made up entirely of water, while on the outside they are covered by slick ice that's protected from melting by magic. When in the water they seem to disappear. They shoot powerful jets of water from their maws, which they can easily turn into icy breath; every flap of their wings causes a chill to permeate the air.Spoiler:
- Ground- Ground elementals are content living anywhere that is dry and will burrow their way deep into the earth when they make their dens. They eat whatever minerals they can find. On the inside, this breed is full of shifting sand. On the outside, they are protected by metal; the red tint comes from the clay that is mixed in with the metal. They spit mud-balls at their opponents and create miniature sandstorms by flapping their wings.Spoiler:
- Air- The only food that air elementals require is air itself. Their entire being is made up of air. Even their scales are simply compressed air; if this outer layer is punctured and not closed quickly, the air elemental will die. The green that flows through their bodies is air that has been tinted by the magic within them. This breed is constantly flying and usually only comes down for a landing when it has draclings to care for. They blast powerful gusts of wind from their mouth, and their wings can also create small yet dangerous windstorms. They often use this to give themselves a boost, making them extremely swift in the air.Spoiler:
Spoiler:
Faes are the smallest species of dragon in Fargona, only growing to be about 4 inches long with tails that typically add another 4 to 5 inches to that length. They are often called the most beautiful dragons as well, because of their usually vibrant colors and iridescent or butterfly-like wings. While physically weak, fae know a wide variety of spells and their reservoir of magic is greater than most dragons. While they know mostly healing and defensive spells, faes are always sure to have at least a few attack spells. They live in areas that are thick with foliage, where they can more easily hide their small forms. They are strict herbivores, and absolutely adore sweet foods and flowers.
Faes lay their eggs in the spring, and they often flock together to protect each others nests and young. When the draclings hatch from their tiny eggs, the parents guard them for a year while teaching them the spells they know. Even when grown, though, fae are very sociable and sharing.
Faes despise fighting, but they won't hesitate to defend themselves if attacked. This is rarely necessary, however, as most other dragons respect faes because of their kind nature. Injured dragons often seek out faes for healing and are more likely to protect a fae than to attack it.

Gargoyle
Spoiler:
Gargoyles are nocturnal dragons; not that they really have much choice, since during the day they turn into unbreakable stone. Generally dark brown or black or in color, they blend in quite well with the dark. The average male is 8 feet tall, while females are slightly shorter. Mischievous though they are, gargoyles merely play tricks on the innocent; they can sense evil intentions and will only attack and consume those with dark plans. While the ignorant would likely believe that such a dark creature would have magic to match, gargoyles actually possess the ability to manipulate water.
For a gargoyle to be born, a male and female gargoyle must transfer a small amount of their life force to a stone. This stone then develops over the course of a year into a full grown gargoyle, thus why no young gargoyles are ever seen. Gargoyles attach themselves to the area they first awaken in and protect it as their territory. Because of this territorial nature, humans often take undeveloped gargoyle stones to their homes. When the gargoyle is fully born, it then treats the house and the inhabitants and items within as things it must protect.

*Hydra*
Spoiler:
Hydras are ginormous dragons, reaching heights of nearly 400 feet when fully grown. They have stocky bodies and thick legs and are wingless. They come in a variety of metallic colors and the occasional green or purple. They are born with a single head; within a week of their birth, another head will begin to grow. This head will remain non-functional and its eyes, mouth, and ears are sealed until a full year has gone by and it has reached the length of the first head. This cycle then continues each year until the hydra reaches 100 heads. At this time, the oldest head will become weaker and slowly wither away, until it completely dies. At the same time, a new head will begin to grow next to the older head as it normally would and at the end of a full year, the old head, along with the entirety of its neck, will fall off and the new head will take its place. This cycle then takes the place of the old one. If a hydra's head is cut off, two new heads will grow instantly from the place of severance. While they do not live as long as lungs or turtorgs, hydras still have an incredibly long lifespan; the longest a hydra is known to have lived is 672 years.
Hydras are rarely seen by humans, or even other dragons. Despite their gigantic size, they don't need to eat very often, so only leave their homes to hunt once or twice a month. They live secluded lives in caves deep in the mountains. The only contact they have with others of their kind is with their mates, and hydras mate for life. They are typically peaceful and will only attack if provoked. If you do ever find yourself in a fight with a hydra, however, the only way to kill them is to either severe all of their heads at the bases of the necks, where they connect to the body, so that no heads can grow in their place, or to penetrate through their thick scales and pierce their heart.

Longma
Spoiler:
Longmas are slightly larger than the largest horse, and many times stronger and faster. They have the same shape as a horse, but for the draconic tail and wings. Their hooves are also cloven, with the tips of the toes curving into slight claws. Scales cover their underside, all the way up their necks. Their skin is thicker than a horse's, and has a more leathery texture. Besides their manes and the hair along their tales, male longmas also have long hair along the back of their legs. Longmas are most often a plain color, similar to horses, mixed with some brilliant color that is unnatural for a horse, such as blue or green; very rarely will a longma be only one single color all the way through.
Longma are able to walk upon water as if it was solid ground, though they can choose to sink below the surface. Wild longma herds usually stay close to sources of water as they absolutely adore the liquid. Soaking in water can quicken a longma's healing when it is injured or sick and rejuvenates them, besides the glorious sheen they also gain. When a longma is born, it does not yet have scales; the more a young longma soaks in water, the stronger and more quickly their scales will grow. Because of this, longma herds with draclings often stay right next to rivers or lakes so that their young may constantly be in the water. They drink more water than any other creature besides water elementals.
Longmas once traveled Fargona in large herds of over 200, but their numbers in the wild have dwindled; the largest wild herds now reach an average of only 30 in size. Longmas do, however, thrive in captivity. They are rather docile and enjoy working, so they are among the easiest dragons to tame. Those farmers who can afford them usually have at least one longma, which they treasure greatly. The richer nobles have have large herds, the best of which are used for pleasure riding and pulling their carriages.

Lung
Spoiler:
Lungs are long and serpentine, with four legs and often horns on their heads and/or fur along their backs. Their whiskers, which all lungs have, serve to help them judge wind direction and velocity. They grow to be up to 50 feet long, with their tails making up a great deal of their length. Lungs can come in any variety of color, and it is their color that predicts what they will be like. Lungs with paler colors are more peaceful and gentle and prefer order over all else. Lungs with darker colors and chaotic and blood thirsty, and often quite tricky A pure white lung is a servant of absolute order, while a pure black lung is a servant of absolute chaos. Lungs are incredibly intelligent dragons, with knowledge that rivals that of mankind's greatest scholars. The color of a lung can be found out before it hatches by submerging the egg in water; the egg will glow brightly and turn the same color as the dragon it holds.
Rumored to live for thousands of years, lungs have plenty of time to learn more than any human could ever imagine. They are the only dragons known to be capable of speaking in human tongues, though only a small percentage choose to. While solitary by nature, lungs have a thirst for knowledge; thus, they often settle close to populated areas. They live on high mountaintops, in swamps, and in rivers and lakes. They are able to create storms of wind and rain and control these storms, though, for some unknown reason, they go temporarily deaf when doing so.

Manticore
Spoiler:
Unlike other lion-like dragons, manticores are solitary creatures, though like other lion-like dragons, only males have manes. Wild manticores can only be found in the Rheendess Range. They will challenge any other living being they see as long as they believe themselves to be on equal or higher footing; a wounded manticore, however, will lash out at anything and everything. Rarely will a manticore enter into a fight against an opponent they know to be stronger than them as, despite their bulky appearance, they are not actually all that strong or agile. The spikes on their tail can penetrate even the thickest of scales and secrete a poison that first paralyzes then slowly kills the victim. They are about 5 feet at the shoulder.
Manticores have the face of a man, the body of a lion, the tail of a scorpion, and large bat-like wings. Their mouths are much wider than a human's and contain a lion's fangs; except, there are three rows of teeth on the bottom and three rows on the top. Hidden in crevasses on their tails are long spikes that they can shoot out as projectiles; these spikes grow back over time. The sting from a Manticore's tail is fatal to all but a few creatures. Their fur ranges from bright gold to blood red. Despite their rather ferocious appearance, the cry of a manticore is as soft and melodious as a flute.
Manticores are mostly scavengers, eating whatever dead and decaying creatures they happen upon. However, they crave the taste of human flesh and will not pass up the chance to feast on it if they come across a human that is alone and already weakened. It is rare to see a manticore outside of the area surrounding the Rheendess Range.

Puk
Spoiler:
Sometimes mistaken for newborn drakes, puks are only 5 inches long, their tails doubling that length. They have four legs with feet built to easily grip small objects and a pair of wings. At the tip of their long, winding tail is a tuft of fur that glows as if on fire; and it may as well be since it burns on contact, unless you are the puk's master. They're mainly insectivores, but they also love berries and sweets. Puks are very tricky and mischievous creatures with a love for stealing.
Puks live within small households, often a house in which either the poor or thieves dwell - or both. The domestic animals of the house are under the puk's protection, and it answers to the owner of the house as master. Puks often bring small trinkets as gifts for there masters; these trinkets, however, are often stolen goods. Because of this thieving nature, which cannot be trained out of puks but instead only improves, owning a puk is illegal. If a puk is discovered within a house, the owner must order the puk to leave; the puk, ever obedient to the master, will typically obey without hesitation. There is, however, a chance that the puk will only become annoyed and decide to stay if only to play tricks on the house's inhabitants out of spite.
Puks have the ability to transform into small animals, such as dogs, cats, and rats; however, their long tails never change, no matter what form they take, and the color of their eyes always stays the same as well. They cannot transform into anything that is over 3 feet tall. If their tail is injured in some way, they will immediately revert to their natural form; if the tuft on their tail is removed, they will completely lose the ability to transform until it grows back. Besides having the ability to shapeshift, puks are also able to bypass nearly any form of protection spell.

Qilin
Spoiler:
Qilins are slightly smaller than a large horse and have a build that seems to be a mixture of a deer and a horse, with cloven hooves for feet and a tail that is sometimes long and serpentine, and other times short like an oxen's. The head is draconic, though it is shaped similar to a deer's. Their fur is interspersed with scales in various places, with a stomach that is always covered in scales. Even their fur is incredibly compact and thick, making it difficult to pierce. Male qilins have a single antler protruding from the middle of their heads; a female, meanwhile, has a single smooth horn, and are often mistaken for the mythical unicorn. Qilins have long, flowing manes that lose their vibrance the more the qilin eats living vegetation. Coloration wise, they are usually earthy tones with occasional, more flashy colors mixed in.
Qilins prefer to avoid walking on living grass as much as possible, and so they usually have a single predictable track they follow to avoid stepping on grass unnecessarily; they often even take to walking on water rather than walking on grass. They avoid eating live vegetation as much as possible, eating only the dead and decaying or those plants that are infected with parasites. The flames they spout cannot harm any form of plant.
Qilins are normally gentle creatures, only harming those they perceive as evil. They are also quite vain dragons, and will take it upon themselves to protect any home that has an image or statue of a qilin; however, if an evil person sets the image of a qilin in their home, the qilin will become enraged and destroy the home and all those in it.

Quetzalcoatl
Spoiler:
Quetzalcoatls live long than most dragons, though not as long hydras or lungs; their lifespan averages at about 250 years. If not for the feathered wings and feathers adorning their bodies, they could be mistaken for nothing more than giant snakes. Their hearts glow brightly (though this can't be seen through their scales) and emanates a fierce heat throughout their entire bodies. When a quetzalcoatl dies, its heart will continue to glow for 24 hours. Besides this, they can also breath a fiercely hot fire.

- Tropical- Tropical quetzalcoatls are the larger of the two breeds, growing to a length of 45 feet. Their scales are typically a shimmering green or blue-green while their belly is a paler green. The colors of their feathers vary among a number of tropical colors, from blue, to green, to red. They are never naturally either purple or gold, however, though there is a time when their feathers turn this color; during mating season, the wing feathers will a royal purple while the rest of the feathers turn gold. Their cry sounds like the squawk of a parrot and is often mistaken for one.
Tropical quetzalcoatls live along the coasts of the Orskel Islands, though they rarely actually enter the water, and go inland only to hunt. Their nests, which they create in small coves where the tide won't wash them away, resemble coracles and hold up to three eggs. These eggs, pale brown in color with orange markings, can float as well, just in case they do fall out of the nest. When a tropical quetzalcoatl hatches, its wings and feathers have not yet grown so it looks just like any normal snake. The draclings are moved to the shore, where they then hide out in rocky holes for the next few years as their feathers and wings grow in.
- Continental- While they are not as large as their tropical cousins, only growing to a length of 15 feet, continental quetzalcoatls make up for it in ferocity and cunning. Their scales are an iridescent purple, except for the ones on their belly which are yellow. Their feathers are usually yellow, though their have been ones with red, blue, or green feathers mixed in as well. Their call is similar to the tropical quetzalcoatls, but much more high-pitched. While tropical quetzalcoatls prefer solitude, continental quetzalcoatls often flock together to protect their young. They live mostly in the Rheendess Range, with a scattered few about the Oldkin desert.
Continental quetzalcoatls are always on the move, so they have taken to carrying their eggs, which are a bright phosphorescent green with paler green markings, nestled in the feathers between their wings. The draclings can fly from the moment they are born, though they will often rest on the backs of older quetzalcoatls until they build up their stamina.
Spoiler:
Tatzelwurms aren't the largest of dragons, varying in length between 2 to 6 feet long; however, they make up for their small size with cunning and ferocity. They have the forelegs and head of a cat while their body is that of a snake, though with much thicker scales. Their bodies are covered completely in scales, though many also have fur around their upper bodies. Even with only two legs, they are still much stronger than any other creature their size and can leap up to 9 feet into the air.
When they see a human, they will either flee immediately or charge while letting out a high-pitched wail and attempt to bite the person. If a person is bitten, they will die almost immediately. The fangs of a tatzelwurm are coated in poison, and they expel poisonous fumes strong enough to kill a human if they are breathed in; while these fumes will not kill a larger dragon, they will greatly hinder the dragon's movement and senses. Perhaps one of the greatest oddities is their blood, which is green and burns like fire. It is thanks to this hot blood that they are able to survive in cold regions.
Tatzelwurms reside in the north, mostly being found within the Tonumskel Range as they prefer mountainous habitats. They hibernate during the colder months of winter, sleeping in crevices in the mountainsides or sometimes even in hay lofts in barns. If they have draclings, a tatzelwurm will collect as many furs, leaves, and grass as they can to keep their vulnerable young warm.
Tatzelwurm draclings are furless and scaleless, having only weak, fleshy bodies for the first few months of their lives. When born, they are no larger than a domestic cat, though they appear nothing like one but for the head and forelegs.

*Turtorg*
Spoiler:
Turtorgs, often simply called dragon turtles, are the largest yet rarest water-dwelling creature in existence, growing to be nearly twice as large as a blue whale. They have the hard shell of a turtle, but with the head and hard scales of a dragon. Their legs and tails are more draconic as well, the legs being more flexible than a sea turtle's flippers and being clawed with webbing between their claws, and their tails are nearly as long as their bodies. Their colors vary between blue, green, and a mixture of the two.
Turtorgs are docile creatures that don't interact often with humans, though a turtorg floating near the surface has often been the cause of shipwrecks. They consume large amounts of fish, along with the occasional small whale; they will never, however, attempt to eat anything that can actually fight back. Recorded to live up to 1000 years, turtorgs have the second longest lifespan among dragons.
The reason turtorgs are so rarely seen is because they rarely even breed, so there are only about 1000 of them living in the oceans surrounding Fargona. There are usually only about five turtorg eggs produced in a span of 50 years, with the record being ten eggs. A turtorg lays only one egg, unlike their turtle counterparts who lay large clusters of eggs. Rather than leave the eggs alone, the turtorg mother will carry the egg inside of her shell, in a space in the middle that dips down and keeps the egg safe from being crushed by her body.

Wyrm
Spoiler:
Wyrms often appear to be overgrown snakes, growing to be anywhere from 20 to 60 feet long; if it weren't for their limited lifespans, they would grow even larger as they never stop growing. While most may appear to be snakes, there are some with mouths that are more similar to a lamprey's. Their scales as well differentiate them from snakes, being larger and thicker and more like armored plates. They are ferocious and violent, attacking anything on sight, and are difficult to tame. Thus, they are usually left alone, allowing them to become quite numerous in the wild. They swallow their prey whole, this prey often being something as large as a cow. They aren't beyond eating humans as well.
Wyrms are immune to all poisons, making them even more difficult to fend off than they normally would be. They have incredibly strong noses that sometimes prove to be their downfall, however; a person has only to scatter some strong smelling object about them. Villages vulnerable to wyrms will often create a perimeter of strong smelling plants around the village, if they can get them to grow, and this will usually keep wyrms away.

Wyvern
Spoiler:
Wyverns are often mistaken for young drakes, despite the fact that they only have two legs, their only forelimbs being their wings. They are only about half the size of drakes, the average wyvern being about 10 feet from head to tail. Height wise, they are about 4 to 5 feet tall. They have a sharp, poisonous barbed stinger at the ends of their tails that they use to take down their prey. The poison it injects in the victim quickly spreads through the body and paralyzes them before spreading to their lungs and causing them to stop working, thereby suffocating the victim.
Wyverns live mostly in caverns in forests around mountains, though some will live at higher altitudes where there are few trees. Their homes are easily recognizable as they are surrounded and filled with bones and valuables they've collected. At least, some of what they collect is valuable; a good amount of it is also simply pretty pieces of rubbish that caught their eye. Wyverns are very aggressive and will attack anything that looks like it might make a good meal; females guarding their young should especially be avoided as they will attack and kill anything that comes within 10 meters of their nests.

Zomok
Spoiler:
Zomoks are fairly large, bulky dragons, being 20 feet long and 6 feet tall, with scales that have the texture and appearance of tree bark. They are practically a living ecosystem, having branches, moss, and flowers growing at random on their bodies. These flowers sprout year round, unaffected by winter's cold as they are kept warm by the zomok's raging hot innards. Despite their bulk, zomoks can actually fly quite high up in the air, though they aren't incredibly maneuverable.
Zomoks will let loose an earsplitting scream and attack when anything threatens the swamp it lives in, gaining them the title "Guardians of the Swamp". When it is preparing to attack, the the bulbous protrusions on its back will bulge outward and glow a bright yellow as it uses magic to create a parasitic seed. The seed takes only a few moments to be ready, at which time the zomok will spit it out at its target. If these seeds succeed in embedding themselves, thick vines will quickly start to wrap around the victim, restraining them. When the victim can no longer move, the seeds will gradually burrow their way further in and sprout deep inside the prey. While sustaining the prey's life, the parasitic plant will take over every vein in the victim's body until it is practically a living plant itself, though devoid of movement. The process can take up to a week, during which time the zomok will carefully guard its prey; when the process is completed, only then will the zomok eat its prey.

Rules
- Follow all of PC's and the RPC's rules.
- No godmodding, but that should be obvious.
- Don't bunny someone else's character unless you have permission.
- If you're going to be absent for any period of time, I may take control of your character until you return. Note that this doesn't guarantee they'll survive until you get back, unless you specifically ask for them not to be killed.
- If you see your character listed in the NPC SUs after you leave the RP, it's probably because something in their history gave me some kind of plan for something involving them - or I just really like them. They're still your characters, though, which means if you'd prefer I didn't use them or if you would like to return to the RP as that character, just let me know.
- Keep romance within the rating. Kissing and no further.
- You don't have to start out with your Bond, but please have bonded with them within your first few posts.
- Please note that there is no feudal system in Fargona.
- Unless otherwise specified in their description, dragons cannot speak.
- Reservations will no longer be taken. If any spots are open, they will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. If multiple SUs are posted, then I will choose the ones that I believe to be the best.
- Follow common sense, and have fun.
