Crossroads; A JOHTO STORY
You wake up in your home in Cherrygrove City, Johto. This is the day when the resident pokémon researcher, professor Pine, has promised to give you a rare pokémon and a pokédex in return for your participation in her study. The study basically involves training your given pokémon and reporting any successes or oddities back to the professor. Since it's tradition that most kids take a leave from school to go on a pokémon journey once they become teenagers, this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

The truth is... dark powers lurk in Johto these days. A criminal organisation called Team Rocket is creeping into higher and higher ranks in the pokémon world, and they seem difficult to stop. Money is power in this world. However, an underground organization opposing TR has formed, and they are doing everything they can to mess up TR's business.

Is there a link between professor Pine's study and Team Rocket? Will you take on the gym challenge, or maybe focus on seeking out the brewing corruption around Johto? Will your pokémon partner become your strongest champion, or will you gather a large team of pokémon to grow as a trainer and as a human being? So many questions. And even more answers.

The world of pokémon lies ahead. Step into your very own adventure!

OBSERVE: this is a reawakened RP that was started way back in January 2014. The same players will be continuing the RP after it's summer hiatus, and the same IC thread will be bumped and used. I'm making a new OOC thread for organizational purposes though.

Currently, no spots are open.

the workings of the RP

Areas will be presented as chapters, and each chapter will give you options on what events or missions to undertake. You will not be able to do them all, so the main game lies in choosing the events that will shape your character and the adventure to your taste. There will also be setting descriptions and lists of pokémon available for capture.

Players choosing the same events should do them together. This is to make the RP enjoyable for you so that you won't have to write on your own, and also to avert story troubles. Player interaction can be done through joint posts, which can be created by sending a PM back and forth and building onto the text until a story worthy of a post has been made - OR by using titanpad! You may of course also take turns posting directly in the IC thread if you prefer that. If the players wish so, the GM can control NPCs sometimes.

Levels are handed out by the GM whenever you finish an event. Levels are earned from descriptive battles and as bonus points for well-made event-related posts. Rest assure I won't judge writing quality like spelling and grammar. If you don't have time to write a whole chapter at once, split it up into several posts over time.

When capturing pokémon, you do not have to wait for approval. You may battle wild pokémon or befriend them, and you may trade with other players and with NPCs. NPCs will only trade you pokémon that were available in previous chapters though! Available wild pokémon, their level and attacks will be in the chapter description.

Just so you know... The events of Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver have not occured in this pokémon world. The story of this RP will sort of replace the game canon, just so we're all in the clear about that ;)

starter pokémon

The pokémon you receive from professor Pine started at level 5. Reserve one in your SU. And yes, they will be shiny colored. That's part of the weirdness about them. And they will get even weirder as the RP goes on... Dare you discover why? New players in the revived Crossroads can choose any three-stage pokémon family to start with. I will let you know when reading your SU if I approve of your choice or not.

Chespin is taken by Doctor.
Cyndaquil is taken by Sir Bastian.
Chikorita is taken by Carnivore Chie.
Totodile is taken by Greiger.
Froakie or something similar is taken by Raikiri.
Fennekin is not in the RP at this time.
Torchic is chosen by Dragon.
Abra is chosen by The Last Sentinel.

rules

1 - Follow all the PC and Roleplay Corner rules.

2 - The rating is T. I don't see a reason to describe battles, romance or injuries with more detail than this rating will allow. You are free to describe pokémon battling in a way you feel comfortable with, but things should be closer to the anime's style than to a bloody war or real life streetfight.

3 - Be polite and nice OOC. I have the final word on everything, for the sake of organisation.

4 - There will be no more reservations, except for the one already stated in the list of players. If you want the last spot, take your time to create a good SU with a character that might fit our RP (do read the IC a bit too to catch up!) and hope that at the end of the week I will pick yours.

5 - A word of caution: don't join if you don't enjoy writing about pokémon trainers, or if you are not prepared to write on a regular basis. As most events will require you to post together with others, it's a shame if you leave them waiting for too long :(

Christina Langley - Langley Residence

Name: Christina Langley

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Starter: Cyndaquil, Extrasensory

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Christina is generally as she looks in the picture, albeit she usually carries her bag with the strap on the opposite shoulder, she doesn't have those odd appendages around her wrists (Though she does still wear the gloves), and she doesn't have the chains coming off of her belt.

Family: She lives with her father, her mother travelling overseas very often, due to her being employed on the S.S. Aqua as a chef. She also used to live with her brother, Marcus, who's two years older than Christina, and left on his Pokémon Journey when he was sixteen, three years ago. The Langley family live in a moderate, two-story house near the outskirts of the town with a broken-down playground not too far away from where they live.

Goals and interests: Christina wants to, in the end, become even more famous than her brother. She has no idea how to do this, or what exactly it is she wants to –do- to become famous, but a Pokémon Journey, for her, is about bonding with your Pokémon and, most of all, discovery. Both of the personal and the worldly kind. So she figures the Journey is a great place to start looking for answers to the questions she's asking herself, not bothered by the fact that her goal more or less just spurred from her brother teasing her relentlessly since they were little.
She greatly enjoys the ideas of adventure and exploring and, unlike most kids, had a very mixed childhood of both playing video games, and roaming the forest's edge around the town they lived in. She was fascinated with the idea of finding new areas of the woods that nobody had been to before, to map it out and set up a little camp and afterwards, fight off pretend-monsters and evil Pokémon. She enjoys music a lot and isn't afraid of showing it with a bit of dancing or humming along if she knows the song and it's played loud enough. Another thing to note is that she loves swimming, bathing and sailing, thanks to her mother's early influence on her, and she won't shy away from taking a dip in a lake, should she come across one.

Rival: You –could- say that Christina's older brother Marcus, is sort of a rival to her. She always had to hear about how Marcus was insanely popular with the girls, and he constantly belittled her, picking fun at her whenever he could, though in a… brotherly sense. The fact that he left on his journey before her and he's older than her, as well as the fact that he's started becoming a somewhat well-known Pokémon battler on TV, secretly makes Christina want to do ten times better than Marcus, though she'd never admit that to anyone.

Strengths: Christina is a very go-and-get-'em type person, meaning that she likes to tackle her problems head on, rather than wait around and try and think of some other solution. She can be very feisty, but at the same time, very cheerful and happy, and despite any first impressions that would hint towards a tomboy, she's definitely not afraid of showing her more feminine side either. Due to her 'adventuring' and running around in early childhood and even as she grew up, she's become a rather agile person as well, though not very strong, she's definitely quick on her feet.
She cares a lot for her friends and those around her, believing in fairness and fighting for those who can't fight for themselves. However, if her friends or people close to her are in danger, her attitude changes from her usually feisty mannerisms, to a more cautious one, which makes it clear that she would blame herself if something were to happen to them while in her presence.

Weaknesses: Despite her love of the waters and seas, Christina is still deathly afraid of drowning, even more so than most people. Should she be on a bridge or a boat that she starts sensing is about to sink, or a scenario like it, she'll panic and freak out. As such, she's also very afraid of underwater Pokémon and certain fish, which is also a reason as to why she would never ever touch any kind of seafood (Though she claims it's because they have the most horrid stink).
While she's very spunky and can be very 'Take charge', this also words as a double-edged sword, as she can be very stubborn, both in her actions and her point of views, though usually it's more the latter than the first. Her adventurous mind and her willingness to charge into situations along with her natural curiosity, also often lands her in trouble or bad situations, which, in some cases, could be argued that she sort of asked for. She's also not very fond of insects or 'creepy-crawlies' of any kind, though this is not to the point that her fear of underwater 'mon stretch. It's more the 'Stay at a distance and watch them burn with glee' sort of situation.

aberdeen_zps77bf013c.png

Name: Aberdeen Montany
Age: 15 now!
Gender: Male
Starter: Chespin, with Synthesis

Spoiler:

Family: Aberdeen lives in Cherrygrove with his parents. His two years older sister, Anabel, died in an accident involving pokémon a couple of years ago and Aberdeen has seemingly managed to get over it by not being as touchy and sensitive anymore. He used to be a bit of a crybaby, while Anabel was the tough kid. Now he's taken on some of her personality, more or less subconsciously. Ab's father works in a flower shop and his mother works as a nurse at the Pokémon Center. They have one pokémon partner each, Sunflora and Wigglytuff with whom Ab grew up, but they aren't trainers.

Goals and interests: Aberdeen has lived a fairly normal and easy life and has a couple of great friends but also nowadays people who find him annoying at times. This is because he changed when his sister died and became more extrovert and reckless. His main goal with this journey and why he was so willing to accept a pokémon from Pine and do the study, is that he wants to take chances, take risks and experience things. He wants to do the things others wouldn't, he wants to be that crazy, daring person. Because his sister, despite being a tough girl in her own right, never really took any risks and preferred to be smart and play things safe... and that didn't do her any good in the end. Aberdeen refuses to end his life like that too. He will take on the gym challenge because it seems hard, but he isn't completely focused on challenging every trainer he sees or capturing every pokémon he encounters. Becoming the greatest pokémon trainer is the goal of so many kids nowadays; he'd rather become the greatest human being.

Rival: His sister's childhood friend, Rachel, is one year older than Aberdeen. Ever since Anabel passed away, Rachel has been different too. She has spoken about leaving on a pokémon journey, but she doesn't need to take part of some study to do so. She already owns a pokémon. Aberdeen has always looked up to her and hopes that he'll meet her now and then on his journey, since they're leaving at the same time, but he's somewhat anxious about her turning out more successful than him.

Strengths: Ab can surprise others by thinking out of the box or doing seemingly crazy spur-of-the-moment things. When offended or outsmarted, he seems to lack a proper sense of pride since he'd admit that he was wrong rather easily. Not easily confused; sees what's important, at least to him right there and then. As such, he is quick thinking in the heat of things but not always the wisest when it comes to big, important decisions. In general, he comes across as outgoing and cheerful. He is also pretty unselfish most of the time, unless he is feeling really impatient.

Weaknesses: Sort of impatient and reckless, stemming from his wish to accomplish something and take risks in life. Doesn't like contemplating things, so can make decisions a bit too quickly sometimes. Contemplation makes people depressed or grumpy, according to him, so if he notices that someone else is like that, he'll feel uneasy. Mostly only afraid of ghosts and anything that's got to do with death (because of his sister being dead and him being a fan of the supernatural after all) but that can make him pretty faint-hearted. Rather physically weak!

Name: Melody Hughes

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Starter: Chikorita (Female, yes?), Refresh

Appearance: Melody's appearance is pretty similar to that of her picture up above. She is a bit short for her age, standing at 4'9". Because of this, Melody often gets people to confuse her for being a few years younger than she actually is. Due of her tomboyish nature, she tends to avoid wearing more girlish colors such as pinks and purples and wear shorts as opposed to skirts and dresses. When traveling, she keeps all her items in a dark green backpack which she wears off her left shoulder.

Family: Melody lives with hermother and older sister. Her mother makes a living working as a nurse within Cherrygrove's Pokecenter. Her older twin sister, Emily, decided not to embrace the life of a Pokemon trainer. Rather, she decided to finish schooling and then study to become a teacher herself. Melody's father, Cliff, used to live with the family as well. However, since her father is a Pokemon trainer himself. The man had began his career as a trainer at the age of 15 years old, much like Melody is now. However, he rarely stops by home, which leaves a noticable void in the family's lives. The family makes its home in a quaint, little house close by the Pokemon Center where Melody's mother works.

Rival: Melody considers her father to be her rival. Always hearing stories from both her mother and her sister about his talents and adventures, Melody has found herself realizing that her pining for a Pokemon journey of her own stems from those stories she heard growing up as a child. She has accompanied her family to see some of his battles. He has even ventured to Indego Plateau on numerous occasions to take on the Elite 4 challenge. While Cliff has never actually managed to battle and win against the Champion, he has won various awards and tournaments within the Johto region. This has made him fairly well-known in the region. Melody has always felt a slight anger at her father's way of living. While she has no disrespect for the man's life as a trainer, she feels that Cliff has essentially abandoned his family, letting his fame and reputation.

Goals and Interests: Melody has always dreamed about embarking on a Pokemon journey of her own. Facing trainers in epic battles, meeting and forming an unstoppable team of Pokemon, traveling across Johto and seeing all the region has to offer... The girl wants to experience it all. As she grew up, Melody began to find another desire building into her dreams of a career as a trainer: finding and confronting her father. The girl feels that she would only be a successful trainer if she is able to meet her father and defeat him properly in a Pokemon battle. Because of this, she has made it her goal to surpass him in skill and while keeping her family close, instead of abandoning them as he did.

Strengths: A generally positive thinker with energy to spare. Melody is one to approach every challenge with a smile and a will to never give up, no matter how difficult it may seem. Melody is generally a very friendly girl, always willing to greet everyone with a smile and lend an ear to anyone who may need it. A tomboy by nature, Melody always spent a good deal of time outside playing games like baseball instead of playing with dolls and the like. Because of this, she prides herself on being tough and a bit stronger than most girls her age.

Weaknesses: Because of her hyper active tendancies, Melody often has a hard time managing to keep quiet and still at points. This has been a problem for her as long as she can remember, often getting her into trouble when she was in school for not being able to keep still during class. She also has a habit to start rambling away while talking, letting her imagination get the best of her as she lets the endless possibilities of something run through her mind. Always one to be a bit on the clumsy side, sneaking about is not her strong suit by any means. Melody is absolutely terrified of heights.

Name: Vincent Baker
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Starter: Froakie (sigh) w/ Aerial Ace

Appearance: Ignore the fire, but yeah. This captures what I am envisioning. Oh and he carries a skateboard with him.
Spoiler:

Family: Ha! Family! That's a good joke. Vincent likes to pretend he doesn't have one, having so many falling outs with them. When he did have a home, it was all the way back in Goldenrod City, where he lived in the slums and ran with the wrong crew for far too long. His father was always gone "on business trips" but he usually came back with little to no money. His mother had to slave away in the department store making less than minimum wage, leaving Vincent with his little brother and sister. This forced Vincent to grow up fast and he has risen to the occasion for the most part. However, as he grew older, he became more and more spiteful towards the whole idea of babysitting and nothing doing what he wanted to do, eventually running off on his own, leaving his family in the dust. This caused him to run with local gangs and got in all sorts of trouble before bouncing from Goldenrod completely and wandering Johto aimlessly. And now he's here. A loner.

Goals and interests: They are two sides to Vincent's goals: What he wants you to think and what he actually wants to do. He wants people to think that he has no goals, being the living personification of simply living. No purpose, completely guided by his whims and nothing more. And truthfully, that is partially true. Vincent's immediate goals are completely guided by his impulses and desire for adventure and freedom. No parents. No responsibilities. No nothing to get in his way. However, being completely honest: Vincent wants to make something of himself. In particular, he wants to be something for his baby brother and sister to look up to. Because, really, his parents aren't exactly role models. Even if they are "trying" to be parents, Vincent believes they need someone otherworldly to really motivate them to work hard. This makes his whole journey motivated by selfless desires. But he would never admit that outright.

This being said, Vincent isn't much of one either. As eluded to it earlier, Vincent is an admirer of adventure. However, Vincent's version of adventure often involves pushing the limits, particularly of the law as he does anything for a good thrill. Messing with local law enforcement, pulling pranks, skateboarding in illegal places and street art are just a few examples of what Vincent does to get the blood flowing. When he isn't breaking the law for kicks, Vincent enjoys being in nature, finding a recent love in the environment, loving the idea of the sky, mountains and the stars. Occasional naps are enjoyable, as is doodling in his little art book that he carries around in his bag of stuff. In his quietest moments, Vincent loves to create art and stories, something he always did for his siblings before he put them to bed. It's an old habit.

Rival: Does law enforcement count as a rival? Because hohoho…Vincent has got a number of police officers who do not like him.

Truthfully, Vincent has a lot of enemies. His biggest enemy would be Nicolas. Nicolas used to run with Vincent for a while until he snitched on him with the cops to get out of a handful of vandalism charges. Since then, Nic (as he prefers to be called) has been trying to get back at Vincent with no success. All because Vincent knows how to stay a few steps ahead of the competition.

Strengths: Vincent's greatest strength is his resourcefulness. Having been forced to grow up a bit earlier than everyone else around his age, he has become independent and self sufficient. This has made him very adaptable, and he quickly adjusts to new situations. He can think on his feet quite well, having years of experience having to do to outrun any number of situations. His constant successes have given him an air of confidence, and he is more than willing to leap into situations firmly believing he will walk away gaining any sort of victory that he was aiming for. Vincent is very dedicated to whatever whims or goals he develops, and will fight the good fight to accomplish whatever he wants. He can think outside the box and is literally willing to do whatever he needs to do to seize his dreams. He's an opportunist, valiantly fighting for his beliefs…and that may be the best way to describe him.

Weaknesses: Vincent isn't very likable. He's self-reliance comes from his lack of trust in people and aside from a select few, he vehemently refuses to open up to anyone, preferring to keep them at a distance with insults and taunts. His distrust of people tends to be quite crippling, and he is very slow to make friends. In fact, his morality towards people is so bad that he has tendency to betray people flat out. His self confidence has also been inflated by his frequent successes to the point of blind arrogance. He refuses to admit his faults, ever. In fact, his arrogance blinds him to any failures, being senselessly reckless. He is more likely to dive head first into a problem rather than think it out, being the definition of careless. Crusading for his dreams has made him stubborn and willing to fight dirty in order to snatch the successes he is so enamored with. He's cold steel, never willing to break…and that may be the best way to describe him.

Roleplay sample: You already know how I RP. But I'll throw down some links from One Piece: The Golden Age. It's all JPs haha. Here's one with good old Alby. WHO HAPPENS TO BE IN THIS RP.

I want to know what starter is avaliable.
____________

Name: Gelius Flyer
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Starter: Torchic Egg Move: Night Slash

Appearance: The only difference is that he carries a hat.
Spoiler:

Family: Gelius is the son of a famous police that changed his house to Johto. He is also the brother of one of the winners of the pokemon league and he that is always throwing that to Gelius face. Is father died really soon and his mother died later, leaving the sons to the grandparents in New Bark Town. When he grew up, Gelius gained the dream of becoming one of the gym leaders of Johto, but he needed to get all the 8 badges. The grand parents told him to wait. Gelius was tired of staying in home and run away.

Goals and Interests: Gelius originally aimed to be a gym leader to show his brother that he isn't pathetic, but then he gains other objectives while travelling. His interests are battling and catching pokemon. Also one interest was to get a pokedex. However is not easy to get one.

Rival: Including his own brother there are some other rivals. Later he will met new rivals.

Truthfully, his biggest rival a boy called Bob. Bob is one of the guys who "bully" Gelius.

Any pokémon that can evolve twice; I'll let you know if your suggestion is inadequate in any way. Torchic is perfectly fine!

As for your SU, there are plenty of things that don't quite add up. The champion is not someone named Clyde; this is something I as the GM will decide about the region. Also the trainers called Ruby and Silver from the games aren't really existing in this world - the first post states that the events of the games are erased. And is he really impatient while he's cool headed also? I just want to give you a fair chance in case there are more people signing up later :3

Torchic | female | Double Team
Morgan Wilson
age 16 | female

Appearance: Standing on about 155cm, Morgan is a young girl of below average height for her age. She has a pretty slim and small-structured body, most likely inherited from genes. Her most obvious trait is her long pink pig-tails that is tied with a black scrunchie on one end, and on the other end, she has a black tied ribbon that's tied with the other end of her pigtail. As for her outfit, she wears a pink dress that has hot pink lace and patterns. She also wears really long black stockings with light pink lace tied. Finally, she wears light pink buckle shoes.

Family: Morgan's the only child to her mother and father, where her mother works full time as an accountant, and her father works full time as a major drunk. Soon the inevitable happened, and her parents got a divorce, where Morgan was looked after by her mother. She actually used to live near the outskirts of Hoenn until she and her mother moved away to a smaller, less expensive house near Johto's Violet City. Morgan wasn't exactly dependant on her mother, as she always finds herself alone in her home, while her Mom went to work. Her father, she had a lesser relationship with, since she always felt that her dad had no time for her, or rather, she felt that he didn't want her. So, she always had an uneasy relationship with her family in general, but, that was normal to deal with, at least to her.

Goals and Interests: Despite her nature, Morgan likes to take it easy often, and sit out somewhere to drink tea, or read a book outside. She always preferred staying outdoors rather than indoors, because she always had a keen interest in nature, with plant life, the atmosphere, the stars at night, the radiant sun, and most importantly, with Pokemon. She loved Pokemon from a young age, even when she used to live upon Hoenn, she always found herself feeding the wild Taillow and reading books about the wonders of Caterpie evolution. Ever since she was 10, she always dreamed of having her own pokemon, and travelling to her heart's desire. As for pokemon battling, she always wanted to try it out; how she will succeed as a true pokemon trainer, and travelling the lands, looking for battles to increase her experience. But her ultimate goal is to meet as many pokemon as possible, in an attempt to understand more about the world.

Rival: Sometime ago when Morgan was 13, Morgan joined a club of potential pokemon trainers who also had the same goal in mind, to be the best trainers that they can. Perhaps that the members of this group is what Morgan precieves as a Rival? Maybe. However, Morgan generally doesn't really consider anyone to be a 'rival', per se, as she doesn't really have a competitive nature, but more of a go-with-the-flow type of person. There are a couple of people in her club that stick out the most for her, though. One was a young woman named Chelsea, who is easily her kryptonite. Like really, everything she does really ticks her off, and if there was a chance to get revenge on her? Morgan would like nothing less.

Strengths: Morgan has a sense of tactful-ness about her. She takes good care for her friends, and anything else that she deems important, and no matter what, she'll never abandon anyone in need. Most of the time, she presents a level-headed and calm nature that allows her to think more rationally, so the actions that she does are almost always justified. She's more of a realist than anything, and thus, she's more open minded towards beliefs, attitudes, and other rationale from people.

Weaknesses: Unfortunately, while she does present a calm demeanour, she can also easily blow her temper if there was something that really sets her off. She's not afraid to show her feelings, and that can be a little uneasy going when it comes to decent conversation. Also, with her temper, she can sometimes make decisions on impulse; one that can net her into trouble easily. She's also pretty blunt with people, which can rub them the wrong way, and at first glance, she's not exactly easy going with people, since she can be awfully judgemental of them, even from a first glance. Also? Due from her relaxed nature, she can be awfully lazy at times, leaving off important tasks until the very last minute, or better yet for her, leave someone else to do it. Finally, she likes to tease others, on one hand, signalling that she likes them, but on another, can be quite annoying to others!

MY SU ONCE MORE! I BE HAPPY! :3

Name: Blaine Debour
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Starter: Totodile (Aqua Jet)

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Family: Blaine lives with his father and mother in their one story house in Vermillion City. His father works as a mechanic and is one of the many mechanics that keeps the cities power grid functioning normally. Although he has done all that he can to make Blaine into a mechanic the boy, who doesn't really want to become one, just smiles on and works to help his dad off. His mother works in a pokemon center as a standby nurse. Although both are gone for long times from the house it really doesn't bother Blaine. If he's not at school he'll just turn on his computer and talk to online friends.

Goals and interests: His main goal is to find something he loves and be successful with it. So far all that he has tried are small jobs that he doesn't particularly care for so he figures that by at least trying to be a trainer will help him mark another job off of his list if he doesn't care for it. If he ends up enjoying being a trainer, then he would find out just what he would want to do for the rest of his life. He is mostly interested in chatting with his online friends and enjoys spending time on forums since it is far easier to initiate conversations there than in the outside world. Whenever he is off of his computer he usually will go to art exhibits… and that's about it. Despite the few friends he has wanting him to go out and try other things, he finds himself far more comfortable with doing activities that he already has experience with.

Strengths: Blaine considers himself a loner at heart and has managed to accomplish many things on his own. Due to staying isolated from classmates he has adopted a mindset where he can solve problems and think outside of the box on his own. Due to this very nature he finds it rather easy to make friends with other loners. Not only that, but since he has little friends he often finds that he has the time to do whatever he wants and can remain focused on the tasks at hand. Blaine doesn't wear his emotions for any to see, instead he keeps a lot of his emotions boxed in. Despite his attitude of not wanting to connect to others he also doesn't wish to cause anyone, especially his parents, to worry about him and so over the years he has perfected the art of hiding any pain he feels deep inside of his mind.

Weaknesses: Due to an incident several years ago Blaine has a uncontrollable fear of heights. Even so much as climbing up a ladder will cause Blaine to shudder, sometimes he even throws up in such situations. Funny enough, despite his intended isolation from others he truly fears being alone. Not the kind of alone where he knows when he enters a town there will be people all around him, but the kind where no other people exist and he TRULY is alone. Due to his isolation he lacks a lot of social skills mainly those that require him to feel the right emotion at the right time. He knows when to laugh sure, but whenever he has to feel pity or sadness for another he isn't sure if the circumstances are right for such an emotion or if he is showing too much emotion at such a time. He also has no idea as to how to care for a pokemon, though he is trying to learn just to see if being a trainer is really the right path for him.

Sir Bastian, Albunnie, Raikiri and Greiger are re-accepted. Let's hope Wooly sticks his head in here soon!

EDIT: okay I've actually made up my mind already. Dragon, you are accepted with Torchic.

Gelius3, in the most respectful way I have to let you know that your SU tells me that you are not the player we are looking for in this RP. Your style is simply too different from how we do it here. I don't want to point out every little thing I would want to be different as I might do with other SUs now and then, because here it's not the character that is unfitting; it's the fact that how you write an SU tells the GM how you work as a RPer and I think you will get more enjoyment out of a different RP than Crossroads. Thank you for your interest though!

I finally managed to get my SU done. Hope it's alright and fits the RP's needs! :D

Name: Alexis Vendler
Age:
16
Gender:
Female
Starter:
Ralts ♀ with Shadow Ball

Appearance:
Apart from the picture provided Alexis wears a pair of white sandals that have black lacing and outsole and has a brown shoulder bag in which she keeps all of her belongings. She will keep her pokeballs on the pink belt around her waist.

Family: Alexis is the single daughter of the Vendler household that belongs to Riley and Samantha Vendler. Her father works as the manager of the Cherrygrove PokeMart and deals with mostly everything related to the shop, from making the list of supplies and organizing the merchandise to even filling in for his staff at the register if needed. Samantha Vendler used to be a gym leader until a few years ago, in another town, where her family lived until she decided that it was time to retire and settle down her active life. She specialized in water type pokemon, but has extensive knowledge on other types as well. After her retirement, the family moved to Cherrygrove City as Riley started his own business.

Goals and interests: Growing up in the shadow of her mother's image of being a gym leader, Alexis found her love for pokemon battles and even more, for pokemon. She is determined to become a pokemon trainer as soon as she can and in time, with much effort and dedication, the girl wants a spot in the Elite Four or even more, become the Champion. Alexis doesn't want the title as a means to boost her reputation or out of a need to surpass her mother, she believes that becoming a champion is far more than that. The tile comes with a great deal of responsibility and enables the holder to enter a whole new level of pokemon battles that aren't suited for many. Another goal would be that of meeting lots of new pokemon and trying to understand them, or at least her future team. Alexis hopes that trough her journey she will polish her skills, learn new things, overcome her fears and weaknesses and all in all grow as a person.

Rival: Her frieeen…..or enem….ok let's call her a frienemy, Jade to be more exact, who is a childhood friend of Alexis. The two girls have an on and off relationship, one day being friends and the other becoming mortal enemies. I think this was due to the fact that the two are strong headed and always compete with each other. Since Alexis moved she hasn't heard a word from Jade and can't decide if that is a good thing or bad. Nonetheless, Alexis, even if she will not admit, misses the days she had to strive for her best to keep on par with Jade.

Strengths: Alexis is a very determined girl and will do her utmost best until she is satisfied of the result. She has a bit of knowledge about pokemon and pokemon battles due to spending time with her mom who taught the girl a thing or two around the gym. The young girl has a lot of imagination and usually thinks outside the box so she may find a different way to get out of a tight situation in life and in battles. She is usually kind hearted towards the people she trusts, while taking a diplomatic approach when talking to new people. However, that's a total different story when it comes to enemies, in a few words you really don't want to cross her path. All in all Alexis is your ordinary girl who knows what she wants and she will strive to obtain it, collected most of the times and a good friend to have around.

Weaknesses: Kind of stubborn when someone is contradicting her belief and won't easily change her mind. She isn't self-conscious when it comes to her actions and may put herself in danger when she tries to save/help a friend. Due to this she broke a leg or two when she was little, but now it's all good. Alexis has a fear of thunder that only her mother and father know about *she'd kill me if she knew I told you about this*. She will try to hide it from other but can't say if she will do a good job or not.

So I'm just a bit confused... are there open spots? O.o

I state in several places in the opening post that there is a spot open and that there's no more reservations so yes, there is an open spot and you are welcome to sign up if you want to try. If your SU seems better than any others who try for the spot, you will get it!

I normally don't do competitive signing up, but it felt like the best way to go here. IF several people even sign up, of course :3

Name: Tryphosa Avelle Lidona
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Starter: Turtwig

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Tryphosa is a teen of average height and weight. She's managed to maintain a healthy and somewhat toned build, despite occasional fits of depression. Her cousin makes sure she eats well and gets proper exercise, even when she doesn't want to herself. She has rounded facial features, medium length red hair, green eyes, and freckles around her cheekbones. She wears light blue jeans, plain tee-shirts, red and white sneakers, and a high collared hoodie with a white torso and green sleeves and collar.
Family:
Up until six years ago, Tryphosa lived a relatively happy life with her parents and older brother. That was before the accident. On her tenth birthday, her parents surprised her with a trip to the Johto Grande Festival, an event which she had always wanted to witness live. On the way, they were met with a stroke of bad luck. They crashed into a car thief that hadn't exactly been paying full attention to the road. Her mother was killed instantly, and her older brother later died in the hospital. Her father entered a comatose state, and has since never awakened. After a few weeks in the hospital, she went to live with her cousins who owned a ranch a bit to the northwest of Cherrygrove City. There she lived surrounded by pokémon, slowly working through the mental scars that she had been left with, as well as a large scar on her right side that served as a constant reminder of the incident. She would visit her father once a month, talking to him, hoping that he would eventually wake from his long slumber. She still has hope that he might, though her hopes of him awaking on his own have diminished over the years.

Her cousin Charlotte, known more commonly as Charlie, ran the ranch with her husband, Oliver. Charlie's brother Garrett lived with them, and he was Tryphosa's primary friend after she stopped actively speaking to people, being only a year older than she was. She grew very close to them and the many pokémon on the ranch, but she shied away from most other people.
Rival:
Having grown up on a Pokémon ranch with her cousin Garrett, it's only natural he would eventually become her rival. When it was decided that Tryphosa would be leaving on a journey around Johto, Garrett prepared to do the same with some of his pokémon from around the ranch. Garrett is a tall, rugged, level-headed boy of seventeen years. He grew up on the ranch, and he has a toned body and the skills with raising pokémon to prove it. He's stronger than Tryphosa, but she manages to keep up with him. He's the only person that can keep Tryphosa on her feet while also acting like a complete arse, and he enjoys teasing her, jokingly, when they cross paths during their journey.
Goals:
Tryphosa no longer wants for much in her life. Her one driving force remains the hope of her father one day awakening, and after waiting for so many years, she's decided to attempt and find some sort of remedy on her own, perhaps with the help of a strong pokémon, or a talented specialist. The answer is unclear, but she hopes to find it by going on a journey around Johto with pokémon. Beyond that, she simply loves the idea of raising pokémon, having considered entering the field of pokémon breeding.
Interests:
After becoming a social shut-in, Tryphosa took to more quiet endeavors. She enjoys reading and writing, drawing, painting, sculpting, and various other forms of art. She prefers listening to instrumental and ambient music. She loves taking care of pokémon, grooming them, raising them, and training them in various styles and events. She took to horseback riding while living on the ranch, and she also has talent as a gardener. Deep down, she still admires the pursuits of Pokémon Coordinators, but she sees her interest in it as the main cause of the accident, so she hasn't followed its goings on since that day.
Strengths:
Despite her shyness, Tryphosa forms intense bonds with the few people she allows into her life. When she grows close to a person, she becomes extremely protective of them, but also desperately afraid of losing them. She's also incredibly bright, having spent most of her time reading books and various reports and histories. One of her greatest aspects is her talent in raising pokémon, which is one of the core components of her life and one of the main things that keep her going.
Weaknesses:
Tryphosa doesn't talk to people. After her life was devastated on her tenth birthday, she's basically feared social interaction. She doesn't know how to deal with individuals, or how to fit in with society. She hates crowds or any situation where she has to actively speak to another person. She avoids cars as much as possible, and she can't stand large amounts of noise or other stressors. She sometimes falls prey to random fits of depression, but she also suffers from anxiety. Too much stress can send her into a panic attack. None of this is really helped by the fact that she blames herself for the accident.

I would love to reserve a space if at all possible...?
Sorry, it's not possible to reserve a spot. I decided that in case there were several people interested in the last new spot, I wouldn't just give it to the first person signing up. Rather I wanted to give several people a chance to make as great a character as possible over a few days :3 So I will be looking at SUs in the weekend.

Meaning: feel free to make a SU if you want!
