  • You can grab some seriously good game right now for pretty dang good prices.

    I recommend grabbing:
    The Walking Dead (TellTale)
The Walking Dead Season 2 (TellTale)
    Don't Starve Together
The Dead Rising Series ($40 - I just picked it up because it comes with all four versions of the game and a handful of DLC)
Dying Light (a bit pricey still)
    Dead Space series

Are you guys picking anything up? :) Ready for some spooky games to get you through til Halloween?

  • Recommend Dying Light for anyone who hasn't already grabbed it. Not only is the base game great but it's got some outstanding user-created spaces.

Can't agree anymore with this statement. I feel that Dying Light slipped under the radar for many gamers, and if you're looking for a true blue zombie apocalypse that is actually good (I'm looking at you Dead Island) Dying Light is a must-have in my opinion.

  • Unless you want something specifically horror themed, I recommend saving your dough for the big Christmas sale. The cuts'll probably bigger and it's not too far away.

As for those of you considering Dying Light, skip Steam and jump on GameStop, where it's cheaper by a decent sum. And for the others, isthereanydeal is essential. Check before you buy- after all, you wanna save money during a deal, yeah?

...No seriously. isthereanydeal. Make it your fucking bible.

  • If it's anything like the summer sale this year it'll all be crappy weeb porn games and low discounts for everything else. Not looking forward to "big sales" anymore due to the level of disappointment from the last one.

Well, a deep cut on Huniepop is a dealmaker itself, but regardless.

It is a bit odd that the end of things like Flash Deals and Community Sales wasn't really supposed to have an adverse affect on the sales themselves (because they didn't need to) and yet the Summer and Christmas sales for the past year and a half have been incredibly lackluster.

Even worse is that they don't even try to make the sales engaging anymore. I remember the sale that got me into using Steam. It was 20...13, I think? 2012? The Christmas sale. The idea was that each day they'd put out a list of games with specific achievements, and by completing said achievements you would get either a box of coal or a game- any game on the store. And, by getting enough coal, you could use it to create a game. Mind you that this was when the store was exponentially smaller and doing something like this today would require quite a bit of retooling, but even after that I can think of so many sales that just created a good energy in the community and actually had mouthwatering deals. These days, though...I dunno. It's disappointing. But I still hold a bit of hope that Valve'll realize. Because I'm a dumbass, not because I actually trust them.

  • I love my ability to browse the Steam store's Special page. Knee Deep in Sales ladies and guts.

Oh lookie, Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light are both on sale and are some games that I definitely recommend for those looking for a First Person Shooter that isn't your CoD brand of flavor. The story telling and things presented in these games are quite serviceable and the gunplay isn't half bad.

Also, there's Killing Floor 2 on a 33% Sale but considering that it is STILL ON EARLY ACCESS a lot of people can still have their doubts. For some reason i think the people have somewhat forgiven the game and the reviews are back to being "Very Positive". Because honestly, Killing Floor 2 is a great game that's just being marred and held back by Tripwire Studious' bad business practices for their game. Microtransactions and RNGlootcrates? Come on Tripwire. I get that you need extra USDs to FINALLY FINISH KF2 but really.. there's far better practices to do than the typical Pay-mium services.

Limbo is also up and its being sold for Ultra Cheap, but some may not consider buying Limbo when people can pirate the game from their friends who may have the game from ages ago ;)

Oh and lookie, the F.E.A.R collection (FEAR 1 + Expansion packs, FEAR2, and FEAR 3) are also up. Definitely something i recommend for people who want to get some spooks + some ferociously great gunplay, especially the First F.E.A.R. if one isn't interested with the collection and just want one game from the series, the first FEAR is your go to. Take it from me.

But yeah, those who are looking for a big bang before the year ends should look forward to the Christmas sale which isn't far from now. Who knows. Maybe some of the Big A titles released in previous months may get a nice hot sale for those who don't mind going digital.

I remember a christmas sale that brought Jewels originally to steam. There would be these auctions for fames, and you'd bid using the jewels. Still got a badge from it, because i managed to snag To the Moon in an auction. Also remember that sale that had that monster game idle thing going on. If that was a sale, at least, but I believe so.

Other than that I'm absolutely broke for the moment and probably won't be getting anything myself. Maybe a christmas present for someone else.

Oh, and, from the fear games I've actually only played 3, which was quite fun kinda. Got the whole package that's on sale now in a cheap bundle though, so what Xin said about Limbo almost goes for the fear collection as well.

  • Yeah, the FEAR games are pretty cheap, not a bad buy. The first one's a classic and a pretty solid FPS, if a bit eccentric. The third is basically the Dead Space 3 of the series, where it's hammier and the horror aspect is gutted but if you can enjoy it otherwise then it's not a bad investment. Plus the games are chump change so it's no big loss either way. I say at least give the first one a shot if you have some quarters lying around.

Also, the lack of SOMA recommendations are making me sadmacho
