Alchemy has many theories and definitions, but, this thread will focus on the act of creating something.

First there's items -- where maybe the player can create items in X&Y? Like in Gen 3, we can mix berry ingredients together to create pokeblocks, and in Gen 4, we can gather up berry ingredients and cook them to create poffins. There were also some instances on where we help someone else create items from the materials we gather, such as soot and ash from the volcanic area in Gen 3 near Fallarbor Town to help create flutes and other furniture, as well as getting something called Shoal Salt to help create Shell Bells, and getting apricorns in Gen 2 to help Kurt create various pokeballs.

Theeeeen... there was more complicated measures, like the man-made creation of pokemon. An example is of course, Mewtwo, who was created to be a scientific clone. Then there are other man-made pokemon such as Porygon, Castform, and Genesect (although technically, yes, it was a different pokemon altogether, until Team Plasma genetically 'modified' it).

So, from all of these references of 'alchemy' on creating something in general, would you like to have the ability of creating something in X&Y? Would you like to have the ability to create more items in X&Y? For example... would you like to have the chance to create your very own pokeball? Or maybe have the chance to create more food items for your pokemon? Also, and this might be kind of out there, but what if you had the chance to create a pokemon? Would that be possible, if you were working with a team of scientists? If it was possible, would you use that option to create various pokemon? Would you like to see the opportunity of how the creation of items or pokemon are being made? Do you have any other thoughts? Feel free to share!

Creating preexisting Pokemon through man-made methods seems...odd. I mean, if the Pokemon you could create were those that are already man-made, then sure. I'd like to be able to create a Castform or a Porygon, or even a Grimer or Voltorb (They are inanimate matter subjected to radiation, after all).

Now, as far as items, I'm totally down for that!

I'd love to be able to collect things like coal or sand and pressurize them to sell as Pearls, or Nuggets (The idea of Alchemy being able to turn coal into gold). Maybe being able to create vitamins or Rare Candies could be an option, too? Or, even creating evolution stones!

I'm in favor of synthesizing items to create a new one. Perhaps we can have a person along the routes who tells you if you bring A,B,C, and D he'll use them to create something cool, sort of like the guy in RSE when you bring him the items from Shoal cave.

i would like mixing things to make pokemon. they could make a few more robotic like pokemon. then you could make the older ones like porygon, klink, maybe if you find some really rare items you could make mewtwo.

Creating Pokémon seems to be pushing things a little. While the theme of genetics seem like it'll be a prominent part of the games, I feel like there are certain limits to this. The idea of creating an entirely new Pokémon, however, seems less than likely. For Pokémon, it's a very vague option to give a player, especially if there are numerous selections to choose from. The possibilities are endless.

Creating a pre-existing Pokémon, however, would be quite interesting. I imagine it would be similar to reviving fossils or in the case of a Pokémon like Porygon, then putting its pieces together on a computer and having a device bring it to life. Then again, that's even if Porygon is available in X and Y.

Alchemy for items, I'm all for. PokéBlocks, Poffins, Aprijuice, I enjoyed creating all of those things.

For creating Pokémon... I really don't see that happening in any newer Pokémon games. But as for getting items to use to create some special items, that's a possibility.

What I'd like to see in regards to items is maybe getting something like logs and then bringing them to a certain person to build furniture out of them or something like that would be interesting, that is if rooms become customizable again.

I got a different twist to this idea, Say on your journey you find a DNA sample in a Pokemon lab controlled by *Insert Criminal syndicate here* Later in the game you come across a research lab that you show the DNA sample to. They say they wanna test on it but they would need money to do so. This being the big cash drop in the end game. You Farm money and slowly pay for the Lab's equipment till they're able to do things like Reanimate fossils and Eventually make a clone of the DNA sample which is of, Who else, Mewtwo.

For normal items I'd rather they were just available in marts to buy. Gathering up ingredients and then going through the trouble of making them is a pain, especially if they're something you're going to want to have lots of and there's no other way of getting them. Maybe if you just had to do it once - let's say it's to show some other character who will then do it themselves and just sell you the items - that wouldn't be so bad.

Customized items, depending on how customizable they are (a.k.a. how much control you have over the finished product) could be really fun though.

I feel like we can already "make" Pokemon through breeding, reviving fossils, etc.

It would be neat to see alchemy in pokemon, although it seems like a concept that would be in a game with a time period farther in the past. Alchemy seems like a dated concept irl, so it would probably be the same in pokemon.

Creating Pokemon, wow! I would love that, but to think about it.....how many millions of Pokemon players is out there...and how many would create their own Pokemon ? then you would have millions of "never before seen Pokemon" out there.

Maybe customizing your Pokemon. Like putting scarves around their necks or almost like a Pokemon dress up like with the musicals, then you can battle with them like their customized look. hats, scarves, bow ties, sunglasses.....whatever you can collect.

Items, I would be too lazy to create it :P cos I just wanna buy buy buy buy and use it :D

Going on what someone put further up the comments about being able to customize a pokemons types and attacks we sort of already have this with the Eveelutions, depending on what time you raise them or what stone you use on them in order to get a different pokemon but being able to have a set type pokemon then changing it completely is an awful idea it just ruins the uniqueness of pokemon and how it has been portrayed to the world for over a decade now.

The poffins and pokeblocks were never anything I was interesting in when it comes to pokemon Gen 3-4, Maybe if they added this towards training a pokemon for example if a pokemon likes spicy food and you feed it spicy poffins you help train it's EVs because it's becoming stronger of what it enjoys eating. As for making actual items it is abit sketchy, I did like the addition of poke flutes and other items in emerald but I think that is where the fad should end none of this you can make potions and revives, it again will ruin the uniqueness of pokemon.

Now here comes the big one! Man made pokemon is another special feature within pokemon which has kept us all intreaged, the introduction of pokemon like Castform, Mewtwo, Ditto and others has helped pokemon become a bigger success in my opinion it can be argued there other man made pokemon such a Klink because in pokemon Black Professor Juniper tells you Klink started appearing in Chargestone cave around 100 years ago which makes me think whether they were something scientists invented to help obtain Ferroseeds from the cave, you see this in the anime where ferroseeds create different environments depending on the environments it is left in! This would help make the game have a huge plot twist in that science has helped Professors in pokemon help to learn about other species of pokemon by creating there own.

Black and White 2 introduced something completely new to the game, Splicing in which you could add the DNA of Kyurem/Reshiram and Zekrom together to create a new legend. HOWEVER, this is where it needs to stop they don't have to go crazy and make it so you can splice pokemon together to create freaky new builds it would just ruin the pokemon series completely obviously with exceptions like with the Kyurem/Reshiram and Zekrom instance where Kyurem is a Genetic copy of Reshiram and Zekrom and that it's made up from those pokemon, fair enough! But pokemon need to leave splicing alone, by all means create new pokemon using science but DO NOT splice pokemon together!

Back to the topic at hand though Alchemy is one of those things where it is really needed and will only make pokemon too flashy and complex as I mentioned on a previous thread pokemon is for children and if it become too complex children won't be able to understand how to operate new features, as X/Y are a brand new franchise in theory because they being released for the first time on 3DS only it means they can't add too much risk to the games otherwise it could backfire massively and people could end up slating the new games because of this, however if the new games have a positive impact on the players then they could start gradually introducing new aspects of simple item creations or even being able to harvest things from pokemon, for example; MooMoo Milk, wool from Mareeps evolution line and some other fun things for making costumes and other items but in my opinion it just isn't something which is necessarily needed.

Some good valid points within this X/Y forum, At first I didn't like the discussion which was taking place as people didn't have enough information to make such wild speculations but some points especially from Shawn are very very interesting! I will look forward to future threads!

I much prefer to create new items myself. I like to think of some personal jobs; let's say that someone wants to bring you an Oran Berry, and say, some sort of mixer. If you bring them those items, you can get some sort of berry juice! (Although... could Oran berries be similar to blueberries? hm.) Creating items doesn't have to be complicated. However, maybe there can be way more items to create, in which these items can only be exclusive by fusing together items or something like that, which can pretty much add value for these items to say, sell, or, have a very good use in battle. For example, perhaps you can create an item that can be the fusion of two effect berries, like Salac Berries and Leichi Berries, to create an item that increases the speed and attack for your pokemon.

I dunno about you, but that can be cool! Do you guys see new potentials from this?

When it comes to items I'm all for having a way to create things. I thought part of the charm of RSE was the creation of Pokéblocks, and mixing different berries together to find out what combinations made what. If this could be enhanced to have a way to create more practical items (maybe like a recipe for Potions or something) it'd be rather cool.
