This looks like a lot of fun! Here's my SU.

* Name: Stella Nicks

* Gender: Female

* Age: Sixteen

* Personality: There is only one word to describe Stella Nicks: normal. That is, if normal can be defined at all. Stella would be defined as 'boring' if 'normal' did not fit, though she would never admit that to herself. Instead, Stella likes to think of herself as being a carefree, helpful and generally nice young girl, which she is most of the time. She lacks a temper, never usually becoming angry if something doesn't go her way.

She loves solving problems, her favourite subject at school being Mathematics. She believes she received nothing of the 'luck gene', always missing out on getting the last chocolate chip muffin from the canteen or tripping over things she doesn't see. She's frequently missed out on many different opportunities she's applied for to do with both Pokemon and other school subjects which has recently made her feel self conscious of her abilities. This is one reason that made her mother push her towards applying for Whitney's Young Trainer Academy.

Stella is dedicated to the one Pokemon she has befriended though she's never thought about proper training with her until recently when she found out about the trainer academy. Her Pokemon is one of her closest friends and Stella believes any other Pokemon she may have the opportunity to catch in the future will be just as important as her first. She's very much against Pokemon cruelty and environmental issues and enjoys reading, writing, doing maths problems and spending time outdoors.

* Appearance: Stella's of average height for a sixteen year old girl and of medium build. Her hair, which she pulls into a side pony tail most of the time, has a slight wave to it, is unruly and dark, dirty blonde in colour. A few strands of hair usually escape her pony tail, which she slides behind her left ear. Stella's eyes are a solid brown colour. Her skin is tanned in colour, though not so much that it's blatantly obvious. Light freckles dust her nose.

Stella is usually found wearing denim shorts, her favourite being a medium coloured blue, with a t-shirt. The t-shirts she owns consist of the colours white, dark blue, grey and dark green, all colours that she prefers to wear over others. Stella also loves jeans, preferring the boot cut style and a particular summer style dress, extreme light blue in colour that she found in an op shop last year. Stella prefers a natural make-up application, freaking out if the powder her mother purchased for her makes her too dark. You'll always find her wearing a silver chained necklace with a silver star around her neck. Her Ledyba has a similar necklace, only smaller.

* History: Stella comes from a broken family, so to speak, growing up in Violet City with her mother and her youger brother. Her father, an enthusiastic Pokemon trainer still young at heart, left herself, her mother and her younger brother when Stella was just four years old, claiming he needed to be with nature and his Pokemon once more. During the four young years Stella did spend with her father though, she was vastly exposed to Pokemon, her favourite at that point being her father's Nidorino, who was a big, buff but caring Pokemon. Once her father departed, Stella's mother found the means of obtaining her own pet Pokemon, an already evolved Wigglytuff, to entertain Stella and her brother Rory once more.

Stella's grandfather was the one to help her catch her own Pokemon when he visited one summer from his home Goldenrod City. Stella's grandfather was a retired Pokemon gym leader advisor, resonably skilled in Pokemon training. He both encouraged and helped Stella catch a female Ledyba she named Minnie. Stella and Minnie have been together since that fateful day, not long after Stella turned thirteen. Both Stella and Minnie have been itching to try out battling for real but the closest they've got to now is battling twelve year old Rory and her mother's Wigglytuff, which wasn't very successful. Stella has, since she caught Minnie, been doing all she can to read up on battling technique and watching every single coverage they make of recent league battles but she's never properly participated in one. Stella believes that if given the opportunity to, battling just might come naturally. With her luck though, that might not be the case.

* Pokemon:
Species: Ledyba
Name: Minnie
Gender: Female
Level: 9
Ability: Swarm
Moves: Tackle, Supersonic, Comet Punch
Personality: Minnie is a happy Ledyba though she does display characteristics of your typical Ledyba - freaking out at sudden movements and timidness. Being with Stella helps Minnie get over this though as Stella's calming personality helps Minnie to relax and enjoy, well, life. Minnie loves battling and thrives on the small battles she gets to compete in with Stella, her brother and Wigglytuff. Minnie also loves food, her favourite being chocolate and noodles. Minnie is a loyal friend to Stella, who insists on following her trainer around.

Whala! I'm throwing caution to the wind!

* Name: Caleb "Dictionary" Morlanzo
* Gender: Male
* Age: Sixteen

* Personality: Caleb is called Dictionary because of his biggest habit. When he was little and someone asked the teacher what a word meant, he would always spout out a definition. Even now he does that, though either under his breath, or when asked. Sadly, his great vocabulary was more a curse than a blessing, what with his parents being avid Whitney enthusiasts, Caleb's talent was not considered very amazing. The other kids often looked down at him for his skill, treating him like he really was just a dictionary. This turned into Caleb being very introverted.

The intelligence it requires having that large of a vocabulary at such young ages meant that he was quite sharp of tongue, even if nobody really understood what he meant. He also pushes himself to be an individual, and he becomes moody when forced to "go with the flow." Once Caleb doesn't feel restrained, he can be quite a nice person, albeit a bit different. When he feels no social pressure, he lets his tongue go unrestrained, revealing his dry humor, bad puns, and large vocabulary.

When it comes to pokemon, Caleb is rather against them. The way he puts it is "I don't believe in forcing wild animals to seriously injure one another." Hey, this is Johto, freedom of speech. He remembers someone telling him about breeding pokemon and the miracle of life, but that memory is buried under years of his parents telling him to be a pokemon master!

* Appearance: Caleb has a dark, tanned skin, which is uncharacteristic in the large city of Goldenrod. Caleb's light skinned mother says it comes from his father's relatives. He is about five feet, five inches; this time from his mother's side, and a bit lanky, though very proportioned. His head is very lean, framed by large ears. His eyes seem a bit large, magnified by a small pair of steel framed glasses. His nose and mouth are small and thin, making his seemingly large eyes more noticeable. It doesn't help that his black as night, short hair hangs down to right above his ears and eybrows.

Caleb wears a black visor, with the words, "Johto Strikers!" emblazoned on the cap. It was a gift from his uncle who lives in Cianwood, and Caleb never leaves home without it. His clothing is a bit bizarre, usually involving a green or blue collared shirt with a red zigzag stripe across the middle. It makes him look like a kecleon at times. His baggy, purple soccer pants don't help matters any. When Caleb goes on long trips, he will bring along an old, scuffed up backpack, one that Caleb has had since first grade. The backpack is quite large, big enough to fit all of Caleb's school books, and a dictionary to boot.

* History: Caleb has lived in Goldenrod City all his life, and his parents have seemingly endless funds from the Department Store for all possible human needs. It's kind of like the one for pokemon trainers, only it's for normal people. His earliest memory is when he got lost when he was five, and wandered into the wrong department store. After that, he has always kept a map of Goldenrod City in his pocket.

It was at six that he first got his own allowance, and Caleb shocked his parents when he got a backpack and pocket dictionary, instead of saving up for a pokemon. His mom and dad felt like failures at that moment, for they were avid fans of the rising pokemon trainer Whitney, and expected their son to follow in their footsteps.

A year later, they enrolled him for the Pokemon Club his school hosted. Caleb ditched the club and went to the Junior's Debate Club, where he actually made friends out of the motley group. Eventually him, and one of the members of the Debate Club became inseparable, turning into best friends. Caleb's best friend was Manny, and it was Manny who suggested the nickname of "Dictionary" when he noticed Caleb's habit.

Caleb is now sixteen, and his parents are demanding he goes to Whitney's Trainer School. The trainer school that they paid for along with the Elite Four's "don't make us coordinated jumpsuits" money. They even shipped in a specially bred and trained zigzagoon from the Hoenn region.

* Pokemon: Caleb has a zigzagoon that Caleb's parents bought as a present before he was forced to go to Whitney's school. Caleb named the zigzagoon Indolent, after his apparent lack of action. Oh well, good breeding isn't everything.
Indolent would love to just lay on a rock in the sun at the city limits, though Indolent was trained, so he knows when it's time to sleep, and when it's time to battle. Indolent is only level seven, as Caleb was loathe to go beat up defenseless caterpies just for Indolent to become stronger. Indolent did undergo special training, and along with the normal moves a level seven zigzagoon knows, Indolent can use Trick. Caleb learned this the hard way, when Indolent wanted Caleb's steak instead of his pokemon food/mush. Caleb does say that he can't blame Indolent after tasting that pokemon food.

@eeveelution: interesting SU! Props for applying with a character who's not super into pokemon battling :)

Update: If any people with reserves (or people who are just lurking about) are getting anxious about how much time is left before SUs are closed, check the first post of either this thread or the OOC thread. They've both been updated with a link to a world clock website that shows what time it is for me. When that clock hits midday on Friday, SUs are closed.

Name: Kenton Vaccaro
Gender: Male
Age: 16

Personality: Ken is Certainly Intelligent for his age, Considering what he spent most of his time helping his father with. Whenever it comes to machines or such, Ken will tend to know how to fix whatever goes wrong with it. He's always willing to help others... usually. He has a slight. Other then that, Kenton is a pretty Laid back kind of person. He's not exactly fond of anything involving police though due to the incident back in Kanto. The most he'll do is give them a nasty look whenever passing by them.

Since he originally came from Kanto, Kenton doesn't have much knowledge of the different locations in kanto. Sending him on a mission alone could probably end up with some bad results early one. Not to mention every once and awhile he stays up a whole night attempting to work on his artificial pokemon.

Appearance: His size is at 5 feet and 7 inches. Sort of shorter then he'd like but that's life. Ken is slightly muscular due to his past work handling a bit of heavy materials. He wears a blue newsboy hat, A checkered T shirt with a Blue and black design pattern along with Gray Baggy jeans. For his hairstyle, a Black Taper cut was what he prefers. Having extremely long hair would get in his way both in battles as well as his project.

Speaking of project, Mark also carry's a large Briefcase that's filled with different machine parts that he was able to hide when his father was taken away. He doesn't have much to work off of but he'll have to manage somehow. His Project is meant to be top secret so he won't take kindly to anybody taking a small peek inside of it.

History: Kenton lived most of his life In Celedon city with his father. When he was under 12, Kenton's dad usually spent his days locked up inside of a small underground tunnel behind the Celedon apartments. Ken had what he would have possibility have done in there that was so important, but it was a well kept secret until the age of 13 when Ken's Curiosity get the best of him. Kenton's father had been attempting to design an Artificial Pokemon, that would act, battle, and do everything else a normal Pokemon would be able to do. In the same room was a Pokeball with a Porygon inside of it which was used as a base design.

That porygon was the result of many months spent in the game corner. Kenton was eventually caught by his dad, but wasn't punished. He actually asked Kenton to help him with this project, and even promised to let Kenton keep that Porygon and train it once he's finished with it. There was no way Ken could refuse, And from there on out, became his Assistant.

As time passed, The project became less and less possible. The Pokemon that Ken and his father had hoped to create would not work as planned. It was just another robot, Nothing compared to Porygon. It was then that his father resorted to the black market, Which sold parts that were snagged from Silph co. as well as the Pokemon lab in Cinnabar island, where Porygon was created. After many trades, He was eventually caught and Arrested by Officials at the age of 16, Leaving Ken by himself. The Porygon that was taken with his dad.

Ken had no idea what to do after that. With his father unable to continue his work inside of a cell, and so many important things taken away from officials. Making a new artificial Pokemon seemed like another dead dream. But he was dedicated to find another way. Not by staying locked inside of a small room for years, but to actually travel around the world and get data to base off of. Maybe then Ken could finish the new Artificial pokemon that his dad dreamed of making. The first priority was to get training. Ken had very little experience in pokemon training, with the exception of a few battle details he looked up. He needed training...

He had already owned a pokemon just incase he needed to travel out of town to help his dad but never really used it for battles, Just errands. The pokemon he owned was a Mankey. He was mostly the handyman when working with his dad. If Kenton was going to train to explore the world then Kanto wasn't the best place to start. Being the son of a criminal isn't exactly a good reputation to live by. So Ken took the magnet train and set off to kanto to hopefully begin his small quest. Luckily for him The Gym leader of goldenrod had started an Academy recently and to Mark's luck, This was right up his alley

Pokemon:
Species: Mankey
Nickname: Raden
Gender: Male
Level: 7
Ability: Anger Point
Moves: Scratch, Focus energy, Low kick, Leer
Personality: Raden was given to Ken by his father to protect him whenever he was out doing errands away from Celedon city. However Ken had never been in any serious situations, leaving Raden with little fighting experience. However, he was quite a handyman when working back at home whenever it meant dealing with heavy machinery for the project. He's not as violent as other Mankey's (unless you want to count his ability). He's also quite Mischievous outside of battle.

RP sample: Johto was completely different from Kanto. It really took Ken a bit of time to get used to his surroundings. Of course he did seem to feel like an oddball just arriving from Kanto but that's probably normal. Lucky for him, the whole city was beaming with trainers, Likely because of Whitney's Junior trainer competition. It was so hard to decide just who to battle first... Some of these trainers could be born naturals for all he knew, And Raden hasn't even been in much battles himself.

"Hey. You there with the Newsboy cap." Kenton turned around to find somebody just about his age. He had black Khacky jeans, A red sweatshirt with black stripes, along with a fedora. Ken couldn't spot much hair so he proboscis had a shaved cut.

"You look alot different from the others here. What town are ya from?" Ken immediately responded, "Celedon city. Pretty nice place if you don't include the polluted water there." The other trainer gave off a slightly suprised look on his face and replied, "...Kanto? Never thought somebody that far away would come here just to train... What's your story?" Kenton stayed silent about what happened back at his home as well as details on the project. "...A long one" Ken finally replied.

"Alright alright. I won't get into your personal business but lets cut to the chase." The trainer said as he pulled out a pokeball. Ken Already knew where this was going and did the same. "Welcome to johto." The opposing trainer said as he called out a Phanpy. "Alright lets get em Raden!" Ken yelled as he called out his Mankey. The opposing trainer grined and made the first move. "Alright lets start of easy. Tackle!" His Phanpy went right for Raden and bashed straight into him, pushing him back a little. "Comon Raden, Don't let that thing beat you so easily! Strike some fear into it's heart!" Raden then countered with Leer, and gave a sharp glace at phanpy causing it to shake a little bit. "Don't let this newbie play you for a fool. Use rollout!" The trainer said as Phanpy Curled into a ball and began to charge towards Raden once again.

"Don't fall for that again, Dodge it!" Raden dashed out of the way as Phanpy crashed into the wall behind Raden. However, it wasn't over. Phanpy continued to roll into Raden, and hit him once more. "Raden, Get up! We've only just started." Ken called out. Raden struggled a little bit, but was able to get back on his feet. The other trainer's phanpy was still attempting to trample Raden with Rollout. "...I got it! Raden, Use Low kick As soon as phanpy gets near you. As soon as phanpy nearly made contact with Raden, He use low kick and cause phanpy to lose balance and come crashing into the wall, Leaving phanpy lying on his back.

As Raden approached the Vulnerable Phanpy, It got back onto it's feet and began to duke it out with Mankey. As the two of them went back and forth dealing blows to eachother, The two foes had become extremely worn out. "A little more Raden... Do another Low kick!" Kenton called out. Mankey once again pushed Phanpy off of his feet and laying on his back. "Alright. Let's finish this battle. Scratch!" Ken said with complete confidence. Raden ran towards the wounded Phanpy nearly winning the battle... until... "I don't think so. Phanpy, Flail." The trainer commanded. As Raden got close to phanpy, The tiny Elephant hopped back on it's feet, In the process, Kicking Raden across the face extremely hard in the process. Out of energy... Raden Fainted.

Kenton looked down at his feet disappointed that he had lost. "Close battle Raden. Good job out there." He said returning his Mankey into the pokeball looking at the other trainer. "...I'll be honest. I thought I was going to lose there. You Mankey is pretty smart." The other trainer complemented. "Ah, I don't think I told you my name at all, My name's Randal. You?" He asked with his hand out. Ken replied and shook his hand. "Kenton. Ken or Kent for short. Guess we all know who's gonna be accepted into this Academy eh?" He said with little confidence that Whitney would pick him.

"Right. Well see ya Kent" Randal said walking out of the door." Ken immediately yelled, "hey hey! What about the Academy?" "I thought you knew who would have a better chance of being accepted?" Randal said as he walked outside and headed off. "Yeah but..." The good thing is that his battle did teach him a little bit about battling. With a bit of luck, Ken just might have a chance in this place.

[[Long post alert! XD

Okay, so it was really, really difficult narrowing you guys down. If I thought I could handle it, I probably would have accepted basically everyone who applied. XD Unfortunately, I did have to make a decision, and so here we are.]]

Spoiler:

Whitney stood imptatiently outside the building that was to become her new Academy. Her assistants had assured her that the kids would show up on time, but she was starting to get nervous. Teenagers? On time? As if that ever happened. No, she was probably going to have to wait outside for hours, making a complete fool of herself in front of the entire town.

She checked her watch. Ten minutes to go.

Miltank tugged on her shirt, and she turned to her pokemon, kneeling down so she could give it a quick hug.

"They'll definitely show up," Whitney told it, hugging it once more before standing up again. She had to look like a strong gym leader when they showed up, somebody that they'd respect as a teacher.

She checked her watch again. Nine and a half minutes to go.

"Ughhhhh," she sighed, scowling at the watch's face. "Time goes so slowlyyy."

Still, she had to wait. And wait she did.

Joe rushed through the streets as he attempted to get to Whitney's academy on time. "Gottagogottagogottago!" he said to himself as he ran past, over and even through a miriad of trash cans, park benches and pokemon who happened to be in the same area! Joe apologised as best as he could, but at the speed that he was going at, most people were just left blinking in surprise as a blur rushed past them.

Joe could see his destination up ahead. If he was going to see the ghostslayer in person, he knew that getting a good look in could only happen before everyone else got there! "Darn it, I've only got one shot at being first! Ai-ai, I need your help, big time!" he shouted as he tossed Ai-ai's pokeball to the ground. In a flash of red light, an aipom burst out and after finding the nearest tree, reached out his tail-arm for Joe. In a move that they had obviously practiced beforehand, Joe leapt up, grabbed Ai-ai's tail and prepared for launch!

Ai-ai performed remarkably well. With a flick of his tail, Joe was sent hurtling over the wall, towards the school...and fell flat on his face. With his pokeball in his 'hand,' Ai-ai scrambled over to his trainer to see if he was okay. Whitney also walked over with a look of concern and confusion on her face. Was this REALLY one of the trainers that she selected?

As soon as his face popped up, she was relieved. "Sorry 'bout that. That move usually goes WAY better," he said as he stood up and brushed himself off. Ai-ai tossed the pokeball back to Joe, who gladly attached it to his belt again.

"Well, glad to see you're okay. Anyway, as you should know already, I'm Whitney and this is-" she was suddenly cut off as Joe rushed over to Whitney's Miltank.

"Okay, yeah, that's my star pokemon, Miltank! You'll get to see plenty of her later...or you can just watch her for now until the other students arrive," Whitney said as Joe took a seat in the shade, while still looking at Miltank from afar. There was probably going to be a while until the other trainers got here, so she didn't see any harm in letting him sit around for a while, even if she did find his constant Miltank-watching a little unnerving.

James was enjoying a long lie in. It was almost 10am and Ninji was sleeping peacfully under the bed. James' wandering mind took another turn away from the main train of thought. He sat bolt upright. "Ah no. What's the time?" He muttered to himself. He looked over at the clock on the bedside table. 9:57. He wasn't late yet. He put his head over the edge of the bed to look at Ninji. The nincada was still sleeping. James sighed and rolled out of bed.

He was dressed in five minutes. James felt relieved that he had gathered his things together the day before. He picked up his backpack and loaded in the lunch he had stored in the fridge. He filled it with anything he may need, a couple of potions, an antidote, a few assorted berries in tupperware and 10 pokeballs. The last thing he picked up with Ninji who was still asleep. The nincada didn't wake up when James fished him out of the darkness and carefully put him in the bag. There was a lunch in there and a small blanket so the pokemon wouldn't wake up too unhappy. Ninji often hung around in James' backpack so the blanket was only removed when it was washed.

The budding scientist left with 15 minutes to get there. He smiled, it was only a 5 minute walk away. 10 now because he had to move carefully so as not to hurt Ninji. James walked around the corner, he walked very smoothly, not bouncing as some people did. As he walked his mind conjoured up different possibilities of the school. He wondered if it would be like working with a tutor. James doubted it. The thoughts changed direction, toward the new tactic for beating fire pokemon he was working on. So far the first tactic hadn't worked well and the second was a disaster. James was working on a third one when he rounded a corner to see Whitney standing in front of her school.

James checked his watched. 5 minutes spare. Everything was fine. He took off his backpack and opened it. Ninji was happily munching on a sandwich. The nincada looked up at the light and made a small 'don't disturb me' noise. James gave the pokemon a look and lifted it out of the bag. "You can walk the rest of the way, and that sandwich was mine." He said putting the bug pokemon on the floor. He waited for the sandwich to be finished before moving again. James didn't mind much about the food, he had another 3 sandwiches in the bag.

James walked over to Whitney. "Evening miss." He said. Lately he had taken to greeting people with 'evening', regardless of the time of day. "This is Ninji, I'm James." He said. She looked a bit puzzled at him. He grinned and then looked down as Ninji started to climb up his leg. The nincada clambered onto his back and onto the bag. James swung the bag off him just as Ninji managed to open it.

"Excuse me," He said, walking past her and past the wall. He picked Ninji off the bag and put him on the floor. Then he opened the bag fully and looked inside. He pulled out a smaller lunch bag and opened it. Inside were 2 sandwiches and a berry. He took out a sandwich and handed it to the pokemon which took it gratefully and began eating. James replaced everything in the backpack and put it back on. He looked back at Whitney who was giving him a funny look. He smiled in response and looked around for someone else.

There was someone sitting in the shade. James noticed the miltank which was probably Whitney's. He looked at them for a moment longer and then walked over to the wall and sat down in its shade. Ninji looked at the sandwich for a moment and then scurried over, dragging the half finished meal with him. James knew nincada mostly lived off of dew but Ninji didn't seem to interested in that.

Alecia was headed towards the school when a kid stormed by and knocked her to the ground. Alecia made a grumble and under her breath stated, "That idiot..."

She dusted herself off and got back up to her feet. She walked toward the trainer school, and got to the wall just in time to see the kid be thrown over the wall. She heard a loud thud seconds later, which she assumed meant he landed flat on his ass. She smiled. She then proceeded to walk around the wall, seeing as there was still seven minutes left till she actually needed to be there. It wasn't a long way around, so what the kid did just seemed plain stupid.

She rounded the corner and walked into the entrance to the school courtyard-like-area. She was impressed by the scale and quality of the school it was nice. She walked up to the entrance and smiled at Whitney.

"Hello, I'm Alecia Roke, one of the students," she stated, and stuck out her arm to shake hands.

It seemed like a nice enough day as Bianca walked up to the academy where Whitney would be waiting. Or at least that's where Bianca thought she was going. The truth was that she was horribly lost. The young teen consulted her map for the third time before throwing it to the ground in frustration; it was useless, Bianca would never be able to find her way. However, Bianca had one more way of reaching her destination. Determined again, she placed a hand on the red and white sphere on her belt and tossed it into the air. In a bright beam of red a small, black pokemon took shape.

"Okay Fusion," Bianca told the unown before her. "Hover up high enough to see the academy building and lead me there. I don't want to be late for this!"

Fusion did exactly as his trainer said and levitated up high above her head. The unown spun around a few times to get a good look at the scenery, and then he cried and looked intently in one direction. Bianca knew that that was the way she needed to go. More eager than ever, she headed off down a street that lead that way and kept a close eye on Fusion. He was still giving a few directions that needed to be taken seriously.

With the careful guidance of her pokemon, Bianca was soon able to see the academy building before her. A few trainers were already gathering at the entrance, where Bianca could barely make out the shape of Whitney standing at the door. Returning Fusion, Bianca ran up and into the group.

Finally, the time had come.

Caleb grumbled to himself as he walked towards his new school. He was walking down the bustling main street of the city, and subconsciously cringed when the Magnet Train roared overhead. Looking down at his map, Caleb walked down a side street.

A few twists and turns later, Caleb was started to get annoyed. "Why am I even here? I lost the entry battle, I even tried to be as boring as possible," Caleb moaned in exasperation. He should be at the warehouse turned school by now. He traced the route he had took on the map with his hand, and continued to grumble "Whitney is an idiotic, childish brat, and she's my teacher." "Hmm," an annoyingly familiar high pitched voice began. It was the same voice he'd heard on T.V. countless times. Whitney continued "So that's what my new students think of me." Caleb looked up with a slight exasperation in his eyes. He couldn't help it. Caleb replied with a quiet "Just the smart ones."

Whitney looked ready to explode, so Caleb made a hasty retreat to the other side of the courtyard the new students were milling about. Once Caleb was settled, he looked through his backpack, and assured himself that he had his dictionary, his note book, some pencils with some erasers, and, worst of all, the poke ball that held Indolent, along with the potions his parents had forced Caleb to buy.

Caleb had no chance to leave now. Whitney was sure to try her best to make Caleb's stay at the school miserable.

Pip and Kipper were practically flying through Goldenrod, and Kosh was wishing she'd worn the jeans instead of the dress. But dresses were so much more appropriate for meeting someone as amazing as Whitney. Oh well…

Her thoughts trailed off as they neared the center of the town. It was bustling today, and Kipper and Pip were getting a bit cocky with dodging people. Kosh was actually getting a little worried.

"Hey guys," she said, leaning in between their heads to speak to them both at once, "no need to rush today. The last thing we need to do is mow someone down on our first day. We have plenty of time."

She dared to lift one hand and stroke both their heads in turn, and at that they slowed considerably to a trot. Kosh smiled and sat up tall to glance around. It wasn't often she was able to look around and take in the sights of the city while riding the two, and up high on their backs she had an amazing view.

Men in suits, woman in beautiful business outfits, and children in the latest fashions meshed into a blur of movement. Kosh was glad she lived so close to Goldenrod. They'd had plenty of time to get ready, and she'd even managed to brush Kipper and Pip before they left. She felt pretty royal atop the beautiful beast in her dress with the great ribbon across the back. People were looking at her, and it wasn't in a disapproving way. She smiled, cupping her hand to wave at them gracefully as she became caught up in the moment.

All at once she was snapped out of it, as Pip and Kipper stopped short to avoid a boy. They cried out loudly at him, but he didn't listen, insead darting past them and straight towards a wall, before tossing out an aipom, who grabbed the boy all and once and hurled the duo together over the obstacle. Kosh and her buddies stood on the sidewalk, watching him fly up and disappear, his worn sneakers and the tail of his aipom darting downward behind the wall.

"Wow!" Kosh cried out. "He's like a superhero! That's stupendous!"

Pip turned his head to acknowledge her words, and Kosh nodded at him knowingly. She began to pet his head gently as she continued to stare in wonder at the wall. A flash of blonde caught her eye near the base of the wall, and she panned her vision to see a lanky boy wandering towards it. He rounded the edge of the wall on foot, and Kosh was sure she saw his backpack wiggle and shake. Her eyes widened. Demons! Demons sneaking into the academy through backpacks—that's the tricky kind of thing they would do!

A gentle nudge into their side with her foot, and Pip and Kipper were headed over towards the wall. She leaned to the side and they made their way around it quickly. Rounding the brick structure, she saw Whitney was shaking hands with a pretty girl, and the blonde boy was now sitting in the shade against the very same wall. A pokemon was running up to him with a sandwich. She'd never seen one of those pokemon before. It was obviously some sort of sandwich-fetching breed. Odd, it looked like a bug-type to her. Of course, she'd been surprised before.

Kosh was so caught up in her mental ramblings, she didn't notice Kipper turning his head around to give her a look. As her vision came into focus, she found his beak only inches from her nose, and she let out a small gasp of surprise before breaking into giggles. Pip let out a laughing squawk to match her, and Kipper turned quickly to give him a peck to the side of the head.

"Okay you guys," Kosh said, still laughing. "It's finally time for us to go meet Whitney! Settle down."

She'd ask the blonde kid about the demons in his backpack and his sandwich-fetching pokemon later-- Whitney was the most important thing right now. At the moment, Kosh saw that Whitney was standing and conversing with boy. He was shorter than her, and wearing a visor. Whitney seemed a bit upset at him. All at once, Kosh got extremely nervous. She really didn't want to start off on the wrong foot with Whitney.

She slid off her pokemon's back, stepping forward towards the pink haired woman. Past the Whitney and the boy, Kosh could see the "superhero" sitting in the shade of a tree. She shot him a shy smile as she was reaching Whitney, and then lowered her eyes. She stood nervous for a moment in front of Whitney before gulping and raising her eyes from her feet to meet her idol's. It was everything she'd ever hoped it would be.

"H-h-ello your majesty," Kosh mumbled, blushing. "I'm Kosh, and this is Kip and Pipper. I-i-i mean Pip and Kipper!"

Kosh took a deep breath and clenched her eyes shut, feeling herself gaining strength as the twin avian heads came down to rest on both her shoulders. When she opened her eyes, she felt much better.

"It's very nice to finally get to meet you. I've lived right outside of Goldenrod all my life, and I've always wanted to meet you."

Kosh stuck out her hand, before continuing in a rush.

"It's an honor to have been accepted to your academy."

Whitney looked at the girl for a moment, a frown still on her face from her previous interaction, before breaking out in a wide grin. It was contagious, and soon Kosh was grinning like a fool too. Whitney reached out and shook Kosh's hand firmly, and with that Kosh felt something very big in her life had been completed.

So with the rather climactic moment over, Kosh took a step back, smiling, before going to stand near the wall the blonde boy was sitting against. She stood petting and leaning against Pip and Kipper, smiling as she rubbed her face into their soft feathers.

Stella Nicks had been nervously awaiting the day she'd arrive on the doorstep of Whitney's Young Trainer Academy. Ever since that fateful Tuesday last week when she'd bothered to take Minnie to the Pokemon Center for her annual checkup, Stella had been running through countless battle strategies, memorising type strengths and weaknesses and doing anything remotely possible that she could do to prepare for this. Her name on that neatly typed piece of paper pinned to the noticeboard was all Stella needed.

Minnie had seemed quite pleased about leaving Violet City, though Stella could not understand why as Minnie and herself had spent their whole lives in Violet City. Stella did suspect, however, that Minnie was keen to explore the world as much as she did though the thought freaked her out completely. The pair had arrived in Goldenrod City not two days ago. Stella had convinced her mother that it was for the best, allowing her time to get settled in at her absent-minded Aunt's place before the big day.

Stella and Minnie had never felt so ready in all their lives before as they approached the Trainer Academy. As Whitney's noticably coloured hair came into view, Stella's insides screamed outwards as she tried to gulp down her nervousness. Minnie seemed perfectly normal as she continued to buzz along side her trainer before coming to a rest on Stella's shoulder.

Very awkwardly, Stella joined the small group of youngsters who were gathered around the notable Whitney, her proud Miltank standing by her side. Whitney seemed to be conversing with all the teenagers who stood around her and Stella made a point of smiling at her new mentor, though nervous as she was. Whitney caught her eye as she continued to talk with another girl but that small gesture gave Stella some sort of relief. She gave a small smile to Minnie who wings fluttered against her ear before Stella stood back, waiting for Whitney to begin.

"Up."

Such was the only warning that Darin would get before experiencing his blankets being ripped away from him, exposing him to the early morning cold. With a groan of displeasure he curled into a tiny ball and would have been able to fall asleep like that if he hadn't been shoved out of bed. He hit the floor with a thud and looked up, searching for his assailant. As it turned out, his attacker was just his sister. He glared at her and got to his feet slowly.

"You could have been nicer about it, Fy," he grumbled. She shrugged. "I know I could, but I wasn't. Coincidence?"

Darin threw a pillow at her, but it wasn't all that successful, since she'd already been leaving. At least that left him with the room to get ready. He'd already packed last night because he knew he wouldn't feel like doing it in the morning. All that was left, then, was to get dressed and look presentable. He crossed the room to his dresser and pulled on the outfit he had chosen for the day. It was, of course, his favorite, with his somewhat tight horizontally striped black and white shirt; tight, dark grey jeans; his studded belt; red high top Converse over smilie face socks; and his black 'Smile! =D' hoodie. His mother had argued that he should dress nicely for his first day at Whitney's Trainer School, but Darin disagreed. His philosophy on life was that people should get what they see and see what they get. And for Darin to come in his best clothes would be a complete lie. Of course, this was something of an excuse not to have to wear a button down shirt, but he would never admit it. He then took the black egg that had been on a second pillow on his bed and put it in his hoodie, where his body could warm it.

Finished, he whistled. Rodney's ears perked up and she ambled over from her bed next to his on the floor.

"Sen?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Yes, we're leaving today," he affirmed. "Ready to go?"

"Tet," she said affirmatively. With everything set, Darin hoisted his messenger-style bag onto his shoulder and went down the stairs to the kitchen, where his mother had prepared him a special going away breakfast akin to the one she had made for his three other siblings when they had all left home. When he sat down at the table he was joined by his mother, Korbin, and Fyora; Esthin was still in Hoenn and his father was at the gym with Clair, working.

Breakfast passed in good spirits, while Fyora teased him good naturedly and Korbin offered bits and pieces of advice on training. Darin drank it up, carefully storing each piece of info. It could prove to be useful later on. It went by far quicker than he would have liked, as he would miss his family. By the time ten AM came around he was on the train, headed to Goldenrod.

The train ride took all of three hours. During it he discovered that he didn't like trains. The lurching motion upset his stomach, and everyone was too close together. As a result when he got off at Goldenrod station he breathed a sigh of relief. With his bag over his shoulder, the egg under his hoodie, and Rodney's ball in the hoodie pocket he felt ready. He was also beginning to feel the first pangs of homesickness, but he could deal with that later.

Darin had never been to Goldenrod, and it took him five minutes to get horribly lost. Luckily he came upon a stand selling maps of the city. He bought one, despite it being heavily overpriced, and followed the lines and twists as well as he could. He was pretty sure the map was off a few feet, but it led him to Whitney's Academy nonetheless.

He approached Whitney with a bright grin, obviously not a shy person. "Hi, I'm one of your new students," he said happily. He extended a hand for her to shake, then turned his attention to her Miltank.

"I've only seen a few Miltank up close," he commented. "But this one looks really good. Healthy, unscarred, but experienced."

Darin rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet, excited to begin. If he had his way he would just skip past the introductions and go straight to the training, but he knew he had to wait through the formalities.

Kaya opened the doors that led into Goldenrod City.

"Wow...," she whispered, "きれいですね, Apollo!" (It's so pretty!)

The two partners marveled at the urban city. With tall buildings and electronic gadgets, Goldenrod was so different from Ecruteak's calm and composed atmosphere. Checking her pokegear, the clock read 1:15.

"Hmm...well, it says we're supposed to be there at 1:30, but I'm early..." said Kaya. She casually glanced down at Apollo, who seemed interested in chasing its tail more than anything else. She giggled. Well, it wouldn't hurt to look around would it...? "おいで, Apollo!" laughed Kaya. (Come here!) Apollo stopped running in circles and trotted over to Kaya's side. "Let's have a look around shall we?"

...

"Uwah...what else is there to do?" sighed Kaya. The two had ended their tourism with 10 minutes left to spare. Now they just sat in the train station, watching people come and go. "You know, we could've stayed longer underground, but it smelled funny...and you almost took off that barber's head!" she scolded. In their time underground, Kaya had decided that it was time for Apollo to get a haircut. The events that took place replayed in her mind:

"Um...excuse me, but are you the person that does haircuts for pokemon?" asked Kaya. The boy that faced her looked a little bit older than her, around the same age as her brother. He looked at Kata for a moment, almost as if deciding on something, then smiled.
"Why yes, I am, but I just ended my shift. Would you mind if you wait a little bit? I'm sure that the next worker will be able to help you." As he said this, he gestured Kaya to sit down. "Sure, no problem. Take your time." Kaya managed to say before he darted around the corner. "Looks like he was in a hurry..." gasped Kaya. Apollo barked in agreement.

...

"U-um, are you the one that needs a haircut?" a boy squeaked. Kaya looked up. This time it was another boy, different from last time. He looked to be about the same age as her, but a little shy. "H-huh? Oh yes, my growlithe needs one." she said. The boy had a dazed look on his face, almost as if he was dreaming. That's weird...I wonder how he can daydream right when he's looking at someone... Apollo barked, scaring the young barber. "What!? Oh, a-alright...let have a look at him shall we?"

Kaya and the young barber casually talked about many things, while Apollo glared at them, particularily at the boy. He knew what he was up to, and Apollo thought of a plan: Bite him. So, Apollo redied himself, going low on his heels to strike...-!"

"Tahdah!" exclaimed the barber as he held Apollo up to Kaya. Shocked and tickled by Apollo's appearance, Kaya laughed. "Haha! He looks like a lion!"

Apollo's eyes widened. Looking at the bowl of water on the table he saw what had happened to his fur. Without hesitating, Apollo lunged...

"Oh well," giggled Kaya, "えとう。。。なんじです-What!?" (Hmm...what time is-) It's already 1:28! Come on Apollo! Hurry!" Without pausing to look back, Kaya rushed through the city streets and into the Academy. Just as she was going to run up the steps, Apollo barked. Stopping just in time, Kaya turned around and asked, "What's wrong Apollo? Something wrong?" Apollo's eyes were focused on something else - something in front of her. Kaya slowly turned back around to find herself looking at the infamous gym leader - Whitney.

"Hello, there," she said,"did you come to be at the academy?"

"U-um...yes! Nice to meet you!" stuttered Kaya. The two chatted for a bit until Kaya, excused herself, going to a fountain to refresh herself. "Wow, well that was exciting, wasn't it Apollo?" she laughed. Apollo barked, then laid next to her feet, relaxing in the sun's rays...

Sarah was late. Incredibly late. And the worst part was, she had no idea why! She'd gotten up early, had a quick breakfast, all but threw on the clothes that she'd laid out the night before, and then dashed outside into the busy streets of Goldenrod. That was it.

Well, at one stage she'd polished Princess so she'd look her very best, but that hadn't taken long. And she might've gone back for seconds with breakfast, but it wasn't her fault that the pancakes her mother had made were super delicious. And really, she'd spent a while deciding exactly which outfit to wear.

Okay, so she knew exactly why she was late, and it was entirely her fault. It didn't mean it was fair, though! First day at Whitney's Academy, and she was late. Typical.

Sarah had wanted to make a grand entrance with Princess, impressing all the other students straight away. Unfortunately, Princess wasn't the fastest of all runners, so Sarah had put her in her pokeball for safe keeping.

Coming into the street where the school was, Sarah slowed to a jog. A grand entrance might be out of the question, but she didn't want to show up all panting and sweating. As she got closer, she could hear Whitney's distinctive voice.

"Alright everyone, gather around," she was saying. "It looks like everyone's here, so it's time to-"

She was cut off as Sarah finally reached the school.

"Sorry I'm late," she panted, bending over for a moment to catch her breath. "Um. Yeah." Sarah straightened up, and gave a quick smile and wave to the other students in the area. She might want to sink into the ground, but there was no reason to let anyone know that.

Whitney shrugged. "It's fine," she said. "You're not that late, after all. Everyone, c'mere, this time everyone is here, so it's time to get this show on the road!"

She paused, waiting for everyone to gather in (or make it clear that they were fine where they already were), before continuing. "Okay, so here's the thing. This isn't going to be the kind of boring school where everyone sits in tiny little rooms learning things they don't care about. It's boring. And, frankly, I can't be bothered to teach like that. Instead, we'll be doing something fun! You'll all get to team up and go on fun little missions where you learn things by doing them, and I'll give prizes to people who do well. Any questions?"

Sarah shook her head, although a grin was edging its way onto her face. That did sound fun! Better than regular school, anyway. She glanced around the group, sizing up the other students, trying to work out which ones would suck at this whole thing, which ones would fall into line, and which ones were going to be competition.

James was looking blankly forward as people arrived. Ninji was tugging at the sandwich. James felt someone looking at him and turned his head to see a girl and a doduo arriving. She was looking away now. He sighed and looked down at Ninji. The nincada had nearly finished the sandwich and was finishing off the crumbs. James considered giving him another sandwich but decided against it. They would need their food for later in the day when lunch time came around.

His mind began wandering again, moving through possible lessons and subjects. He had never been to a school in Jhoto, he didn't know how they would be run. He guessed that there would probably be something about pokemon typing, something about item use and other such useless classes. He spent nearly 10 minutes thinking about it before Whitney spoke to everyone. James glanced up and guessed that everyone must be here now.

When Whitney explained what they would be doing he grinned. That sounded more like it. Missions had potential to be fun whilst classes seemed dull in every sense of the word. James looked around to see other students reactions, or was about to if it weren't for Ninji. The nincada was climbing up the wall behind him. James turned and watched him incase the small pokemon injured himself. James doubted Ninji would, bugs were great climbers, but there was always a chance.
