You are a boy who lives in the Tropical Zone. The Tropical Zone is a peaceful zone where people make a living by fishing, hunting, etc. As well as the zone being inhabited by all sorts of animals. They are also inhabited by pokemon. There are no trainers in the meadow zone, but the people live in harmony with pokemon. You have a best friend named Nathan. Although he is your best friend, you are insanely competitive, but at the end of the day, it's all good fun. One day, two Men and one Woman come to the meadow zone. They are carrying these things that you find out are Pokeballs, used to Capture pokemon. The three visitors come to your village and inform the tribal leader that they will have to take the pokemon from the Tropical Zone to participate in the Grand Metrox, an event that takes place in the Metro Zone. Almost everyone in the village is outraged about this and attempt to stop the three people, but they pull out these silver mechanical weapons that make a thundering sound. They use this thunder to incapacitate five of the villagers. They then take the villagers away. Minutes later, planes come out of the sky and capture all of the pokemon on the island. The villagers begin to attack the capturers of the pokemon and in all of the confusion, the woman drops a pokeball. They leave, leaving the village in a ruined state because of the battle. You take the pokeball and free the pokemon who is inside it: a pikachu.
It quickly becomes apparent that the tropical zone cannot thrive without pokemon. Without beedrils and taillows to pollinate flowers, the plants begin to die. Without the loyal Growlithes and Arcanines to protect them, the village is assaulted by sea monsters and land predators. Soon, you, because you are the only one who seems to be able to connect with a pokemon on a high level, are chosen to find the pokemon's captors and bring the pokemon back to the Tropical Zone. Angered that he wasn't chosen, Nathan takes a silver weapon that the attackers of the Tropical Zone had dropped, and leaves, promising to wreak revenge on you. You are given a sword to fight enemies with, and leave. Because you have no knowledge of any other zones, you assume that the pokemon captors are somewhere on the island. You are right.
