The Bug-type master who is passionate at insects and arachnid Pokémon, the Ground-type veteran who resembles a lot an another former Elite from Indigo League, the hasty Fire-type expert, the Psychic-masters from both leagues, the skilled Poison-type ninja, the brute Fighting-type virtuoso and last but never least the gorgeous Dark-type expert...

Who falls under the love category and who's hated? Why? Please share us your thoughts and battling experience with these Elites!

Aaron_OD.png

Aaron always seemed pretty cool to me. He was reminiscent of Sidney, from Hoenn. The first member of the Elite Four usually stands out to me as really cool and are almost always overlooked! Aaron, of course is no exception. He's the one that really made Bug types stand out as a true force. Yanmega as his ace would've made the most sense for me, but I understand that it wasn't in the original Sinnoh Dex. Drapion as his ace I cannot get behind though! I MEAN ITS NOT EVEN A DAMN BUG TYPE (I know it evolves from Skorupi)!!!!!!!!! Overall though he's a super cool guy though. Love.

Bertha_OD.png

Bertha is just.... why?! ISN'T SHE JUST AN AGATHA RECOLOUR BASICALLY? AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THIS OR AM I JUST GOING CERTIFIABLY INSANE??? I FEEL LIKE I AM NOW SMH ME. Hate.

Flint_OD.png

Flint has always been awesome to me. I don't know if it's just the interaction before Volkner or teaming with Barry against him and the Electric specialist at the Battle Frontier but they certainly elevated him in my mind. Fire types are pretty cool too, and it's a shame his team was so limited though in DP. Platinum rectified this and Infernape being his ace is pretty fitting! Love.

Lucian_OD.png

Lucian always gave off that cool and intelligent vibe. His Bronzong was always so tough for me to take down since I never had a Fire type. It's just so damn bulky! His team is cool, and his calm nature is pretty fitting as Cynthia's second in command. Gallade doesn't suit being his ace nearly as much as far as Bronzong does, he just seems like he'd plump for a bulky and well-thought out strategy rather than a super offensive one! Love.

Will_OD.png

Will holds literally no nostalgia for me, I never madeit past the Ice Path! When I first seen his sprite online I thought he was another Team Rocket Executive! His team is pretty cool and I love me some Psychic types! Xatu is awesome, and I love his characters desihn. His personality reminds me of Rey (sp) from Beyblade, he just wants to be the best! Love.

Koga_OD.png

Koga really did me proud by making the huge step up from being a Gym Leader to being a member of the Elite Four. His Poison types are a really cool addition to the Indigo Plateau based battlers. Crobat being his ace is cool cause it signifies the transition from Kanto to Johto! Overall he's just a super cool ninja! Love.

Bruno_OD.png

Bruno tries to pull off the strong but silent type but for me he just sucks! Machamp is fitting as an ace but two Onyx? Really? They couldn't have thrown in a pair of Machoke or even Primeape? HE SUCKS. Hate.

Karen_OD.png

Karen is really cool I just have never really given her much thought, I never really took notice of her despite her cool team. Overall not any major feelings towards her! Meh.

Honestly the only two that I have a problem with are Aaron and Will. Aaron's design could have been so much cooler, but they really goofed it up with his hair. At least his Bug Pokémon are cool enough for his position. Will's just some weirdo in a mask.

I don't understand why people are so upset with Bertha. I think she's fine as a character. Sure, a bit bland, but nothing to be upset about. There are only so many old woman designs after all.

Also, I will forever love/hate Lucian for his too fast Alakazam.

It's alright, they are understandable. ^_^ Yeah the 4th Gen Forum is relatively quiet.

I love Aaron, among the 4th Gen Elite, he's the cutest! His fascination on the Bug-type can rival to that of Wallace's love for the Water-type. He's my top favorite among the Sinnoh Elite Four.

While Bertha looks virtually similar to that former Indigo, their personalities are quite the contrast. Incidentally that kind and caring personally resembles Drasna from the Kalos region Pokémon League. Her arsenals from Pt like, Hippowdon, Gliscor are tough cookies. They shouldn't be underestimated.

Flint is the most memorable Sinnoh Elite Four, probably stands out among the Elites as well other. His Pokémon team from DP was the most disappointing one though, fortunately his team improved a lot on Pt.

Lucian must be Will's long lost cousin or something like that. Lucian is tough in DP or Pt alone, that's what you expect from a final Elite. Will was a pain to beat, his Xatu and his confusion are just as confusing like those hologram boxes in his chamber.

Koga and his status schemes from FRLG are back, but this time it's not limited to toxic. Forretress isn't a pain to beat if there's a special attacker/Fire-type move available. That Muk can be stubborn though, even with a Psychic-move. :/ Must kill before it respawns,

Bruno is still the same old Bruno from FRLG, Not much a fan of his. I wouldn't be surprised if Chuck is a clone of his! Lol

Karen is this beautiful woman whose attire is a bit too bright for a Dark-type user, I believe it was intended for an unknown reason though. What's with the Vileplume and Gengar? :( You could have had a Sneasel and a Tyranitar instead of non-Dark-type Pokémon.

Love: Aaron, Flint, Lucian, Karen
Hate: Will, Bruno

You don't know how happy it makes me to see someone actually using the correct name for Gen 2's E4, instead of "Johto E4" (which does NOT exist, as neither Kanto or Johto have their own E4).

Anyways...

Sinnoh has always gotten props for actually using different types from previous games' E4s (unlike, say, Hoenn), but unfortunately, the awful Pokédex in DP held most of them back from their full potential. Luckily, Platinum came around and fixed that issue, and the Sinnoh E4 became one of the strongest E4s to ever appear in the games. They all used a variety of Pokémon from within their type (no more filling space with dupes/NFEs/other types), and they all had excellent movesets and strategies. They were also some of the first E4 members to actually appear outside of their rooms and get actual backstories and characterizations. Platinum should probably be the gold standard on how to handle an E4, IMO.

And, now we go from one of the best E4s to one of the worst...

The Gen 2 E4 has always sucked, period. Even in GSC, they were a noticeable step down from Gen 1, with their laughably low levels, mediocre teams, and the simple fact that they kept the always pathetic Bruno and dumped RBY's best E4 member (Lorelei) for some clown in a dumb mask and terrible Pokémon (Xatu as your ace, really?). Coming right off the heels of Platinum's superb E4 only made them look worse in HGSS, which unlike Platinum, did nothing to fix their teams from GSC.

ONLY Karen saves this E4 from being a complete failure like Hoenn's, and that's ONLY because of her quote, great design (only in GSC, NOT HGSS), and decent team.

So, in the end:

Love: Sinnoh E4 and Karen
Hate: Rest of Gen 2 E4

Aron, Karen and Cynthia are my favourites of all twelve members of the Champion League. Aron because his selection of bug types are really cool, whilst with Karen her design and use of Dark-type Pokemon (my favorite type) are what make me warm to her. With Cynthia it's simple, she's pure badass both design and battle wise. I'm just disappointed they changed her outfit in the anime. It is definitely not as epic as her original getup.

Disappointing members for me include Bertha because she's pretty bland, Bruno for similar reasons and Flint/Lucian for their annoying fast and powerful Pokemon.

I always loved Sinnoh's Elite Four better, there was just something I liked about that group better compared to the Indigo ones, but I guess that's me being sick of Kanto or something.

The only complaint with the Sinnoh Elite Four was Flint, and no I don't hate Fire-types (they are awesome I tell ya) but his team was just so terrible in Diamond & Pearl, but thank god Platinum fixed it and made him much deadlier by incorporating the sun into his strategy. My fave of the four has to be Lucian, because I love Psychic-types.

Will was the only one I liked of the Indigo Elite Four, again because there's two members from Kanto (aka my least fave region) and also because I felt like Karen was a bit annoying with her team. Will does have the coolest team, with his diverse Psychics.
