How did you first find out about this hobby we call ROM hacking, and when was that? Did you learn about it by chance? Did a friend tell you? Or maybe you discovered it here on PokéCommunity? Have you been hacking for a long time now, or did you only recently start? Tell us your stories!

Spoiler:
For me it began in June 2009. I was already familiar with playing Pokémon games on an emulator at this time, and I've always been a huge fan of level editors. So one day I googled something like "pokemon level editor", not sure what to expect, and found a program called EliteMap. Admittedly, this program is utter crap, but I was intrigued by what was possible with it nevertheless. This was basically my first encounter with ROM hacking. Some time after that I found another program, this one being AdvanceMap. At first I was a little wary about using it and didn't like it that much, but I quickly came to realize that it was much better than EliteMap (while still having a lot of room for improvement) and so I sticked with it. I believe I later came across a link to a ROM hacking forum on AdvanceMap's website, where I found other tools, tutorials and stuff like that, and things ran their course.
