Introduction

Teleios, the technotopian city-state. Seen by its citizens as a beacon of progress and knowledge, the metropolitan island city upholds the ideals of meritocracy and technocracy. Being geographically small (the city is but a speck on the map) and lacking in natural resources unlike larger regions such as Hoenn and Unova, Teleios compensates by giving birth to the biggest and greatest minds the world has ever seen. Teleions have enjoyed a quality of life that induces envy in the hearts of other countries, with avant-garde technology being ubiquitous and abundant opportunities accessible to anyone who is driven and innovative. In the eyes of an academic, Teleios is the city full of doors waiting to be opened. In the eyes of an entrepreneur, Teleios is the city full of investments ready to ripen. In the eyes of a trainer, Teleios is the city full of battles with twists and turns at every corner.

With great power comes great responsibility (and a great network of cables). As such, many people inevitably wonder how Teleios stays afloat amidst a sea of other regions and entities that are jealous of its amassed wealth. Teleios is unique in the sense that the city-state does not have a clearly-defined governing body. It is ruled by various factions vying for power, only held together by a council formed by the faction leaders who all desire to see Teleios prosper until the end of time. The Meletios Consulate, made up of technocrats, businesspeople, politicians and people of other valuable vocations, all work together to represent the Teleions as well as further the nation's progress. Factions keep one another in check, ensuring that there is no singular entity in absolute control over the city, constantly keeping an eye to see if any one of them subverts the Pact.

Yet, even amidst the shimmering skyscrapers and silver skyline, the neon city lights and brilliant luminaries, there are shadows lurking in the nooks and crannies. Every faction has its own darkness, and their leaders will exploit any chance to further their own machinations. A magician never unveils their tricks; a scientist never reveals their blueprints. Even in a city of glass, secrets lie. Transparency is but an illusion when one realizes that the light reflects and refracts in many ways. Rules and systems, like metal, can bend after all.

In a battlefield of wit and wisdom, are you armed, my fellow Teleions?

Colosseums

The Colosseums, as their naming suggests, are centers where pokemon trainers congregate and engage in their favourite sport – battling! Unlike the League system in other regions, Teleios has a decentralized approach to recognizing skilled trainers. Challengers compete to earn points that count towards a ranked scoreboard, and trainers are matched against others of equal ranking, ascending the echelons to finally be able to duel against the Colosseum's Master. Every Colosseum has its unique Symbol that is awarded to those the Colosseum Master deems worthy of its possession. These Symbols are collected for the purpose of entering the city's Battle Frontier, a place where only the elite trainers train and fight to become the best of the best.

maxresdefault.jpg

Marina Colosseum Buoyancy Symbol

Floating through the waters surrounding Teleios, the Marina Colosseum is the place where water-type specialists gather to battle and have an all-around fun time. Drifting just outside the Delphin Marina, the Colosseum is the first iconic landmark that greets foreign visitors as their ship sails past and into the Marina. The Colosseum's stands are always filled up at night where battles commence against a backdrop of fireworks and light displays.

8100691354_33f78b7463_b.jpg

Central Park Colosseum Landscape Symbol

At first glance, the Colosseum does not seem like an area where trainers hang out with the tranquil gardens and numerous picnickers. The Colosseum itself is not a building, but encompasses the heart of the park itself. Battles are taken place in the grove of Ohmtrees, giant cybernetic trees that glow once night falls. From the treetop walkways, visitors have a splendid aerial view while being protected by the Ohmtrees that soak up shock-waves and radiation that may be resultant from pokemon moves.

Circuit Colosseum Flux Symbol

The pulsating neon lights of Circuit Colosseum flashes through the night, illuminating the nightclub district of Teleios. Its namesake comes from the circuit parties held every night, with dance, music and fashion shows on the lineups. Trainers who have poor alcohol tolerance are best advised not to challenge this Colosseum.

T0eM59y.jpg

Gilded Colosseum Coin Symbol

In the heart of Teleios commercial district, the Gilded Colosseum is not only a place for trainers but also bankers and people looking to deposit money or make financial investments. Constructed and owned by one of the city's major banks, the Gilded Colosseum has an air of mystery associated with people of the upper echelons and its black-and-gold architecture with ambient noir music played indoors only expounds that atmosphere.

unfinished_base_by_raybender-d37s13j.jpg

Subterranean Colosseum Gemstone Symbol

In the industrial districts of Teleios, where steel starts to fade into concrete and coal, and soot and steam is seen for the first time outside the clean electrical city, the Subterranean Colosseum is where users of Rock, Ground and Steel types brawl. Apart from battling, visitors can also enter the Museum where rare minerals and fossils are showcased or try a hand at mining by participating in a guided tour through the Teleios underground.

theatre_esplanade_photo04.jpg

Theater Colosseum Mask Symbol

Home of the playwrights, poets and performers, the Theater Colosseum is one of Teleios' cultural icon, its architecture the last standing piece from the pre-modernization era. Its grandeur halls and stages are where many a celebrity has made their debut as well as where many of its Colosseum Masters coronated. The Colosseum is noticeably easy to find in the vibrant arts and entertainment district, and it's become a temple for underground artists hoping to make a big splash.

ctifj3pebf08ft99vh2f.jpg

City Square Colosseum Motley Symbol

The City Square is the busiest area in Teleios, being the crossroads of the various districts and sectors, and the mecca for malls, condominiums and theme parks. Its colourful amiable facade draws in many trainers and it is usually the first Colosseum greenhorns enter to learn and improve. The offices of Meletios Consulate are based here as well.

Have you worked out what kind of Pokemon live in the area? Since it's a city-state and not a region it doesn't seem like there would be a lot of places for wild Pokemon to live so where do the Pokemon come from?

Why yes, of course! I was waiting to complete the Geography portions of Teleios so that once I release the PokeDex it would make sense to everyone.

Factions

Aegis

Leader: Althene
The arm of the law and the shieldbearer of Teleios, Aegis is the law enforcement agency that handles crime and dished out justice accordingly, protecting Teleions. Their police forces patrol the city 24/7 and their surveillance units keep a Braviary's eye on the city's criminal underworld, ensuring that they stay in line, out of sight but definitely not out of mind. They also make up a major portion of Teleios' military defense from external forces and are generally more trusted by the people (due to the fact that the mercenaries the Consulate hires may bail out whenever they see no gain).

Augment Inc.

Leader: Eugene Lednem
As its name implies, Augment Inc. is dedicated to the enhancement of pokémon and the study of poké-genetics. They are the city's leading pharmaceutical company with most of the PokéMarts stocked up with their products and are known for their exorbitantly pricey PokéCenter (which they have hopes of expanding the number to two). They specialize in genetic modification of Pokémon to enhance combat capabilities, amplifying the species' strengths and minimizing its natural weaknesses. Not one of their members' pokémon is genetically unmodified. Augment Inc. have been under fire seen time immemorial for their allegedly unethical practices and use of eugenics, although many have failed to produce sufficient evidence for the law to accomplish anything.

Orbis

Leader: Aurianna
Orbis is Teleios' luxury pokéball designer and manufacturer whose avant-garde and classic chic capsule constructions have forged a brand for themselves. Their limited one-of-a-kind designer pokéballs have been bought up by models and celebrities, and their singular exclusive boutique is housed in Luxe Avenue. Out of all the pokéball designers in Teleios, Orbis has a giant target painted on their backs by the Liberators who lambast them as scummy capitalists exploiting the slavery of Pokémon to deepen their pockets and has often defend themselves from raids on their factories and mob protests outside their boutique.

The Liberators

Leader: Exo
The Liberators, as they call themselves, are radicals who fervently believe in pokemon rights and extremely detest the technology of the pokeball. They demand that pokemon be treated as equal to humans and should not be kept at Man's beck and call. They often come into conflict with Orbis and raid pokeball factories. Their protests often tend to take a nasty violent turn which has been a troubling thorn for the Aegis.

Symbiosium

Leader: Alsos
The steward of Teleion nature, the Symbiosium is responsible for the preservation of the region's ecosystems and natural environments. In light of the mass rapid urbanization, a group of bioengineers, ecologists and environmentalists sought to protect the habitats of the island's native pokemon species. They constructed giant domes that act as greenhouses and some of which simulate biomes, housing pokemon species that would otherwise be unable to thrive in Teleios' climate, allowing scientists to study non-native pokemon (as well as trainers to catch).

Artistech

Leader: Andromeda
Teleios' leading atelier, Artistech challenges the boundaries of art and technology by fusing the two together, their creations living up to their motto: "Architects of the Future". Artistech is an artisanal guild that plays an active role in the city's arts scene, recognizing up-and-coming talents and its members aren't shy from expressing themselves and their opinions on current affairs. Sometimes, two rival Artistects might get too carried away with outdoing each other, as was the case two years ago where the city center saw itself filled with sculptures and installation art pieces.

Cypher

Leader: Unknown
Cypher is an infamous organization of hackers and information brokers known for their anonymous online attacks and leaking of sensitive information that many factions want to protect, or alternatively get their hands on. Nobody knows who runs the behind-the-scenes operations and all that the people know of Cypher is their cryptic messages and their logo - a grinnning Rotom face.
