Rampardos Egg Move Breeding Question

  • Building my competitive Sun team. Rampardos will be in the mix. Question is how can I get both Crunch and Iron Tail onto Rampardos? Is it possible? Would I have to teach two egg moves separately to two Rampardos and breed them together so the offspring will have both Crunch and Iron Tail?

Yeah, you'd have to breed Crunch onto one Rampardos and Iron Tail onto another, then breed those two together to generate babies with both.

You can alternatively use a Garchomp as the male parent, as it learns Crunch via level up and can be bred Iron Tail, and then is capable of breeding with Rampardos and passing those down.

  • No, you won't need to have two Rampardos with seperate egg moves.

Here's how you do it currently in SM. You need Smeargle (Route 2), Rhyhorn (Blush Mountain Island Scan on Sunday) and a female Cranidos (fossil).

    1) Get a Male Smeargle. Have it use Sketch on Crunch and Iron Tail.
    2) Breed a female Rhyhorn family member (Field/Monster) with the male Smeargle (Field). This gives Rhyhorn Iron Tail and Crunch as egg moves. Make sure to breed for a male Rhyhorn.
    3) Breed a female Cranidos family member (Monster) with the hatched male Rhyhorn. This will put Iron Tail and Crunch on Cranidos as Egg moves.

Now that the Cranidos has those Egg moves, it will always pass them on to offspring. Then it's just a matter of breeding for IVs.
