I know that I'm a little late to report this, but Stephen Hillenburg, creator of SpongeBob SquarePants has sadly lost his battle with ALS. As a tribute, fans have created a Change.org petition to pressure the NFL to play Sweet Victory during halftime for the 2019 Super Bowl as a tribute to Hillenburg. Since inception, the petition has reached 700,000 out of a target 1,000,000 signatures.

  • Rest in peace you wonderful man. :'( Thanks for all those awesome and hilarious memories. I won't forget that day when I was stuck in an apartment watching 24/7 SpongeBob play on the television.

  • Not sure if Deep Discussion is the right place for this(E&M perhaps?) but I haven't watched a Spongebob episode in probably 15 years. Seriously... its long since gone stale as far as I'm concerned but I will admit Sweet Victory wouldn't be a bad idea with regards to the Super Bowl. However... I think it'd be better for the end of the game for the winning team as they say. Especially if, by some miracle, a team that has never won the Super Bowl ends up winning it(those would be Browns, Bills, Cardinals, Chargers, Falcons, Panthers, Jaguars, Lions, Texans, Titans and Vikings. Of those, only the Chargers and perhaps Vikings/Panthers have any shot at breaking through).
