This is something I played around with in my head to see how it would work out.

Those who have some interest, the only issue with making this into a game that can be played online, That may be an issue. I have some skill in programming, but not enough to shove this online. I can make a plugin of this on LackeyCCG, but it doesn't support a [Shared] deck feature and finally I can make a physical copy of this through Game Crafter, a Site that creates games for free while splitting the profits between you and themselves, but I need more support and knowlegde of this will be as accepted.

Card Examples:

Fist: +1 Attack, [Set]: Add +1 to Defense value Until the end of the Act Phase, then Discard this card.

Broken Bottle: +2 Attack, [Set]: You may Counter(The Attacking Player is now Defending, the Defending Player is now Attacking) With +1 Attack until the end of the turn, then Discard this card.

Shield : +2 Defense [Set]: The attack this turn is blocked, then Discard this card.

Gank: You may attack two players at once, then Discard this card after it's been used. [Set]: You may help defend another player by adding your defense to his/hers, then Discard this card.

Ale: Draw 1 card, then Discard this card. [Set]: Draw 2 cards, then Discard this card.

Trap Door: Discard (1) card from a players Play Zone then Discard this card. [Set]: Flip a coin, If heads: the Attack is successfully blocked. If tails: The Attacker takes a card from your Play Zone.

Rough Rules

You have one massive party deck of various cards with multiple copies. At the start of the game, each player takes 3 cards from the top of the deck and plays them face up in front of him. The space in front of the player is the "Play Zone" and the cards in front of him, her are their [Starting] Cards. Then each player draws 7 cards.

Phases:

Card:
When your turn comes around, you draw a card from the massive deck to add to your hand and then you may either play a card face up in your playzone to gain or use it's face up effects, or place the card face down to use it's [Set] Effects next turn. In either case, you must play a card every turn.

Note*[Set] Cards cannot be used in the same turn they were placed. They may be used after your turn ends. Every card has a [Set] Effect. Any and all [Set] cards that are to be used to shift the flow of battle or the game itself must be flipped face up in order for the effects to take place.

Act:
You can do various things during Act. You can attack another player, you can use a [Set] Card by flipping it face up from a turn you placed it before, you can use a card's Face-Up effect, etc. If it's not your turn and it's someone else Act Phase, you can use [Set] Cards anytime you wish during any instance.

End: Your Turn Ends.

How Combat is Handled

During your Act phase, you can declare an attack. The cards that give permanent effects such as Broken Bottle or Fist come into play here.

For starters, you have 0 in both Attack and defense, so it's best to play those cards out as your permanents first. When you declare an attack, you add up the permanents for your total attack value while your opponent adds up for his total defense value.

After the totals are added, then players declare their [Set] cards, changing the flow of the fight and how things will play out. Other players may intervene with their [Set] Cards as long as their cards will allow it, such as Gank. If this idea is liked; I will expand on more cards.

After [Set] cards are declared comes the damage. If the attack succeeds overwhelming it's target or redirected target's defense, the player suffering from the attack is forced to discard a card from his hand to his far left [or Allow the attacking player to discard it for him]. The victim cannot draw another card to replace the one he/she lost. They may recover cards from the use of other cards like Ale, but they cannot regain cards they have lost.

If the attack fails, then nothing happens; the defender successfully avoided from taking a hit and the game rolls on unless he/she has played a [Set] card where it's effects kick in after the Act Phase.

The very moment a player runs out of cards in his or her hand, they are considered knocked out of the game and can't re-enter until a new game starts.

Last player with cards in his/her hand wins.

It's easy enough to throw together, any thoughts?

What's the point of "punch" and "tickle" ? You mention the two once and never again. Is there any theme to the game? Just at a glance, the card examples are all pretty generic until you mention broken bottle, ale, and trapdoors. How do you win? By being the last player standing? I'm getting a vibe kinda like Munchkin here, but what you've shown is pretty generic, so it's hard to tell.

Punch or tickle, they're just examples.

As far as rules go, this is a rough idea of what I have been thinking over and I apologize for not being more specific.

Next, yes, the last player standing wins, I should have mentioned that earlier, however this is just a rough estimate of rules to work with of the idea I had in mind.

I was also thinking of munchkin when I re-read the rules. The only difference is there are no monsters or levels.

Updated post above.

I'm having difficulty wrapping my head around it because I feel like most card games start from a visual premise(i.e. monster battling in yu-gi-oh, monsters that evolve in pokemon, etc.) and that translates to how/why the rules are set up.

But anyways, as for the system itself, my favorite idea is that each card has a face up effect and face down effect for the following turn. I feel like if you can balance the cards enough and make the [set] effect that much more worth the wait, that it will go a long way in making the game fun.

While making the set more worth the wait; it could make the game a little more "SET, AUTOMATIC WIN" for the entire game. If you have any ideas to make the current examples [Set] more better, I'm all up to hear them and would be happy to make the adjustments.

I've "expanded" on some cards and decided to rework the [Set] Effects to make them more worth while. I've also decided to add cards that will allow players to "cast" spells.

Fist [Physical]:
+2 Attack
[Set]: Add +2 to Defense value, +2 more for every "Fist" card in play until the end of the Act Phase. This card may then be kept face-up to keep it's face-up permanent effect.

Broken Bottle [Physical]:
+2 Attack
[Set]: You may Counter(The Attacking Player is now Defending, the Defending Player is now Attacking) With +3 Attack until the end of the turn. If the attack is successful, this card is kept face up while gaining it's permanent face up effects.

Wood Shield [Physical]:
+3 Defense
[Set]: If attacked, the attack is blocked and that player's Act phase ends. If the attack is caused by [Magic], then discard this card without applying the rest of the set effects; Your wood shield catches fire for some comedic reason, even if the magic is ice. If the attack is blocked successfully, you may keep this card face up and add it's permenant face-up effects. You may also choose to discard it.

Gank[Special]:
You may attack two players at once, then Discard this card after it's been used.
[Set]: You may help defend another or aid in attacking another player by adding your defense or attack to his/hers. If the attack is successful, you may steal the victim's/attackers cards. If the attack/defense fails, then you must randomly give one of your cards to the successful player. If there is more than one player in the fight, only the original targeted player is effected.

Weak Ale[Item]:
Draw 1 card, then Discard this card.
[Set]: Draw 2 cards. Keep [Weak Ale] face up. You cannot use the face up effects of [Weak Ale] until your next turn.

Trap Door[Physical]:
Discard (1) card from a players "Play Zone" then Discard this card.
[Set]: If attacked, Flip a coin, If heads: the Attack is successfully blocked and you may discard (1) card from the victims "Play Zone" If tails: Then you accidentally setup your trap door underneath your own feet thinking you could use it as a quick escape; The Attacker takes a card from your Play Zone and the Act phase of the attacker ends. It's embarrassing to win a fight because of an opponents screw up.

Cold Shoulder[Magic]:
Any [Physical] cards used in attacks, both face-up and [Set] Cards are ignored. Cold Shoulder is then discarded because the other players are glaring at you for your ignorance.
[Set]:All attacks, actions, card effects do not apply to you until your next turn. During this period however, you cannot play your [Set] cards; since the matters of others do not apply to you.

Regenerate[Magic]:
Every turn this card remains face up, you may draw an additional card. This card is discarded if you are attacked and the attack is dedicated as successfully.
[Set]: If you are attacked and the attack is successful, instead of discarding a card from your hard, you may draw two instead.

Flare[Magic]:
Pick a player, that player shows his/her hand to you alone. Then discard this card.
[Set]: All players must reveal their hands to you. This card is kept face-up and you may use it's face-up effects next turn.

Honey Beer[Item]:
Draw 2 cards.
[Set]: Draw 3 cards and discard this card. This beer is so good and so sweet, you drink all of it.

Life's Breath Wine
[Item]:
If you loose your last card while this card is face-up, you may draw 7 more cards and remain within the game. This card can be stolen if another player is removed from the game before you.
[Set]: If you loose your last card, you may flip this face up and draw 7 more cards instead, however you must play the first 2 drawn face up, keeping a hand of 5 cards. Don't look at me, this stuff saved your life and gave you some face-up card effects, what else do you want from me? I'm just made of some fancy cardstock.

Heart Burn
[Magic]:
+4 Attack. Using this card is optional, If it's used, discard it after the Act phase, since this card caught fire after using it.
[Set]: +2 Attack during the Act phase, plus this card can be kept face up using it's permanent effect without discarding it since you took the time to chant the card.

Stim Pack[Item]:
You may play 1 additional card this turn.
[Set]: You may either play 1 additional card or draw an additional card.

Card Roulette[Magic]:
Every player takes the top card of the deck and plays whatever they draw into their playzone.
[Set]: Follow the face up effects, however, you alone may take one additional card.

Focus[Physical]:
+1 Attack
Scale (This card's +X increases with each additional card with the same name. Example: 1 card: +1, 2 cards: +2.)
[Set]: If this card is used along with a [Magic] card, your attack can't be blocked, and any numeric effects your magic cards gain +2 until the end of the turn. This card then may be kept face up to keep its permanent face-up effects.

Steel Shield
[Physical]:
+4 Defense
[Set]: If attacked, this card can Block both Magic and Physical cards. If the block is succesful, you may keep this card face-up and keep it's face up effects; It's a sturdy shield! If a [Special] card is used while playing this card for it's [Set] effect, this card is discarded. More than likely they threw you off guard.

I POINT AT THE CULPRIT
[Special]:
Point at the player across from you. That player must either discard a card from his play zone or reveal his/her hand to you.
[Set]: If you are attacked, you may shift the attackers target away from you to another player, including to the attacker them self. We all know what they did, now avenge the dead kittens.

Magic Mirror
[Magic]:
All magic based damage is redirected against the attacker or attackers if this card is kept face in the play zone. This card is discarded if more than one player uses magic.
[Set]: Discard this card, All available players except for yourself must attack a player of your choice. Including the victim. This effect can be re targeted if the victim plays a [Set] [Magic] card; the victim is then in turn immune from being targeted from other players attacks. If all players play a magic card to deflect the effects, the effect is bouncing so infinitely that it affects the main draw deck, discarding the top 5 cards from the deck itself. Discard this card afterwards.

I've thought it over a little more.

What if I turned this type of card game into a Moba?
Not based on Dota, League of Legend or anything. But maybe make skill cards?
The thought is still in the air about it.
