[PKMN FULL] Kinyo: a new region, a new journey [M]

The roar of the crowd could be heard even from the locker room. I was up next. Before this I had kicked around in the bush leagues for a few years, and before that in no name small time fighting rings and gyms, but he was finally hear, this was his chance. I adjusted my tie, and made gave myself one last look in the in the lockers mirror. They always say I had a predatory look about me, like a Lycanaroc that had gone a few days without food. I narrowed my gray eyes and gave a cocky smirk. I had this in the bag. My opponent was fighting type specialist, or at least styled himself as such. In truth from what I had observed he didn't practice the elegant battle dance of some of the more showy types of fighting type trainers, nor the brutal finesse of the more no nonsense types. He instead was brutal, attempting to overwhelm his opponents with unrelenting assaults. This served well in the bush leagues where most trainers and their Pokemon would start to panic once things started going sideways, but here, in the Astra League qualifiers, is where they separated the wheat from the chaff, and if he hoped to beat me he would have to fight a little smarter than he had been.

I did not think he would of course, it had served him well as he bulldozed through 4 young hopefuls already, but it would not against me. I will not pretend that I am not a product of the same environment he was, or that I had developed some sublime and elegant strategy to defeat him; I was just better. I supplemented brute force with precision, by knowing exactly which brick to kick in to bring the whole thing tumbling down. The key was knowing a lot about Pokemon and getting a read on your opponent. If you could develop those skills you could dispense with probing attacks and setup and go straight for the throat. Unlike my esteemed opponent I didn't count on the pressure to cause their reactions to falter. I counted on my opponents not having time to react.
I heard the call for the next trainers to come out to the arena I ascended the ramp into the arena. It was early in the evening, and the evening breeze was crisp.

"In this round we have the calm, cool, collected Morgan Godwin vs. the hotblooded warrior of fury Kai Silverfang, this promises to be an exciting match ladies and gentlemen,'' the announcer said as we entered the arena. Kai Silverfury was undoubtedly a stage name, I needed to get me one of those.

He cracked his neck, and then his knuckles and tossed out a Pokeball, Gurdurr. Smarter than I had given credit for he must have seen me use Staravia in a previous match. Unfortunately for him I decided to open with Kirlia. I was quicker on the draw and Kirlia hit Gurdurr with Confusion. He countered with Rock Throw but Gurdurr was still disoriented from the earlier attack and the shot went wide, and after another Confusion Gurdurr went down. Kai sent out Medicham. I had seen it use Poison Jab in an earlier match so I withdrew Kirlia for Staravia. Staravia took a solid hit from that attack but she was still in decent condition I judged. I went on the offensive with Wing Attack. Kai decided it was time to go for broke and had Medicham use High Jump Kick. I confess that I did not anticipate such a reckless move, but Staravia's instincts were keener than my own and she evaded the attack. With a harsh thud Medicham hit the ground and didn't get back up. I had won the match
