  • I was gonna just submit the region from my old fangame Shadowstone but that's boring. This is an idea for a new game I'm thinking of creating, and I've been pondering exactly how to design it for a while. Replying to this thread helped my flesh it out a lot, haha.

    1) Name of the Games? Why so?
    Pokémon Gnosis
    2) Name of the Region? What/where is the region based on?
The Tanso region, based on rural China.
    3) What's the Region like? Description?
It mostly consists of fertile plains and rivers, with a large plateau and vast cave network in the northwest of the region. Much of the area is not inhabited or industrialized at all, so the focus of the game will be mostly on exploration rather than battling. There will also be no town map for this reason. There are large cities, but they are concentrated on the eastern coast, the endpoint of the player's journey. The region is extremely massive.
    4) What are the Legendaries like? What are they based on?
A regional forme for Rayquaza, and probably one more that I haven't figured out yet.
    5) What is the plot about?
The game is completely open world and the levels of trainers and wild Pokémon adapt dynamically to the average level of the player's party, so it has less of a "plot" than the more linear official games. It's your birthday, and an aspiring Pokémon Professor living in your town has sent you and your friend on a journey to the Dragon Festival on the other side of the region. On the way you have the opportunity to collect data about rare Pokémon and speak to village elders to establish a system of Pokémon Gyms to be used by the trainers of the next generation.
    5) How are the people like in the region?
They're mostly farmers based in small isolated villages. Very few people know how to battle. Many of them will have sidequests for the player.
    6) What are the Starters like?
    Dratini, Bagon, or Axew
    7) How are the Pokémon like?
Due to the extreme lack of industrialization in most of the region, wild Pokémon are extremely common. Partly to compensate for the lack of a Fire/Water/Grass starter trio, those types will be common in the region. There will be regional variants on several Pokémon, such as Sandile becoming a Water/Dark type.
    8) What/Who is the Evil Team? What is their purpose?
There's no evil team. As I said the main storyline is pushed to the back burner in favor of free exploration and numerous sidequests, so a big bad antagonist isn't really needed.
    9) How do you become the very best? (via gyms, trials, etc)
A combination of both. There are a dozen or so trials scattered around the region, which combine both puzzles and battling like in Sun & Moon. There are no Gyms at the beginning, but if you choose to speak to village elders and establish your own Gym systems, you can choose one to lead and battle challengers there.
    10) Special feature of the Region?
    no idea yet :(

Let's develop my old fan-region RP plot a bit better.

    1) Name of the Games? Why so? rom hackers come at me
    Pokémon BLOOM and Pokémon SPARK
The contrast is between the old, natural and the new, technological. Bloom vs Spark.
    2) Name of the Region? What/where is the region based on?
Uuuuh. What to call it? Maybe... Andazon lol

Andean Mountains / South America / Amazon
    3) What's the Region like? Description?
A large mountain ridge lines the western side of the region - it's also fairly cold in parts here. The center of the map harbors a huge exciting rain forest, with a wide river running from the mountains all the way to the coast which lines the eastern side of the map. Most cities and towns are located along the river, but there are plenty of obstacles that hinders the player from traveling the whole way by riding on a swimming pokémon. Eventually though, there will be ways to quickly travel along the river, and the HM02 FLY might not exist hmmm.

The cities are based on the months in our modern calendar, but the might also have secondary names that have been phased out in the region, based on the Mayan calendar? idk. The town names, anyways, are Januvale, Feborough, Marchall, Apriton, Maydale, Junlane, Juliridge, Augushore, Septemburg, Octowell, Noverth and Decemark.
    4) What are the Legendaries like? What are they based on?
A giant parrot... and a jaguar and... a llama?

Parrot could symbolize wisdom, mind and pursuit of knowledge. It could be Grass/Rock type and not actually fly, just be really bulky and tricky.

Jaguar could symbolize bravery, heart and pursuit of strength. It could be Grass/Electric type and focus on offensive movesets.

They are Grass type mostly just to solidify how extremely connected to the nature of the region they are.

Llama could symbolize compassion, community and the pursuit of harmony. It could be Psychic/Ground type, able to counter the other two but also having a weakness to their grass in its ground type. The llama would be involved in the plot but not be a version mascot.
    5) What is the plot about? + 8) What/Who is the Evil Team? What is their purpose?
The region is very very old fashioned and has only recently begun modernizing itself. Many people are resting the changes, especially in smaller towns. There are pros and cons with both sides. Modernizing might change the nature in the region and put old traditions and locations in the shadow of science and technology. But it could also make life easier with more medicines, machines that help everyday life as well as food and energy production and whatnot.

There's two "teams". One is the government and its supporters, who strive officially for modernization region-wide and sometimes force people to accept the changes. The other is the resistance that oppose change in whatever ways they can, and often try to sabotage for the government and official organizations, not afraid to ruin things for a majority of people as long as it stops the modernization in the long run.

The version mascots are prominent in the game from the start. In BLOOM, the Parrot is said to have arisen because it sympathizes with the government's cause and now helps them gain publicity and power. The resistance is desperately searching for a way to re-awaken the opposing old legend (the Jaguar) to help their own cause and counter the unfair advantage the officials have. In SPARK, the Jaguar is said to have arisen because it sympathizes with the resistance's cause and now helps them gain publicity and power. The government is desperately searching for a way to re-awaken the opposing old legend (the Parrot) to help their own cause and counter the unfair advantage the officials have. SPARK would have the world be slightly more chaotic and unsafe, while BLOOM would have things be almost police state-y at times.

However! There's the team of archaeologists and researchers that believe there's a better way of improving the region than forcing changes, but also that they don't need to be stuck in the past forever. One is a professor who gives you and your friend a pokémon so that you can become trainers and travel unnoticed around the region as the research team's assistants (they themselves would likely get stopped by authorities or the resistance if they started snooping around).

Your goal is to find clues about how/why the version mascot was awakened, which eventually leads you into trouble with the resistance and the government, where you learn that they (depending on version) found the third legendary by chance and forced it to reawaken the Parrot/Jaguar. In the end, the game becomes a drawn out rescue mission where you need to find the Llama and use it's powers to free the Parrot/Jaguar and let it go back into its millennial sleep again (but it will choose to stay with you instead since you freed it, yay!). After that, the researchers will convince the warring sides to listen to the nature and find a harmony between improving life for all, and staying respectful to traditions.
    5) How are the people like in the region?
See above, p much. Some sympathize with the modern settlers and help the modernizing, while others want to work against it and stick to their old fashioned ways.
    6) What are the Starters like?
The starters are imported with the modern foreigners and seem to clash a bit with the region's style. They're a FAIRY - FIGHTING - STEEL triangle.

Fairy is an elephant, brought in from Africa. Its final stage gains the Grass typing too.

Fighting is a dog, brought in from Eastern Asia. Its final stage gains the Water typing too.

Steel is a wolverine, brought in from Europe. Its final stage gains the Fire typing too.
    7) How are the Pokémon like?
Probably pretty varied! Plenty of new grass types, ghost types, water types and rock types. Likely reminiscent of South American / Central American old culture and myths but not necessarily.
    9) How do you become the very best? (via gyms, trials, etc)
The modern immigrants have set up a pokémon league and the gym leaders are a mix between natives and immigrants.
    10) Special feature of the Region?
Hmm. How about, you don't FLY around, but the river that goes through the whole map can (eventually) rather quickly take you to any city. Idk if that's very special ahaha. Perhaps you could also ride/surf on any large enough pokémon, instead of using a bike/HM SURF.

Actually, this was so much fun that I might re-make my Pokémon World prefix'd thread in Fanfiction & Writing and turn Arcanum into this haha.

If your mountain range is based on the Andes you could make it that Fly simply isn't possible that high due to the lack of oxygen. Or make it only available to Dragons as a lot of them tend to have pokédex references to flying high and far.
