  • I want a water type because they are adaptive. I mainly want to use Ice Beam for Dragons. Garchomp cant go toe to toe physically with others but it can handle the rest reasonably well.
I am open to suggestions on changes to the team. This team does have a 2016 vibe to it and a first draft as well. Only have done a couple battles with them.

    Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Rough Skin
    Level: 50
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Dragon Claw
    - Protect
    - Earthquake
    - Rock Slide

    Gengar @ Focus Sash
    Ability: Cursed Body
    Level: 50
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Sludge Bomb
    - Shadow Ball
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Taunt

Talon is a VGC 16 copy. Willing to adjust
    Talonflame @ Life Orb
    Ability: Gale Wings
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Brave Bird
    - Flare Blitz
    - Tailwind
    - Quick Guard

I like using Klefki for speed control and status protection

    Klefki @ Sitrus Berry
    Ability: Prankster
    Level: 50
    EVs: 240 HP / 72 Def / 16 SpA / 180 SpD
    Bold Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Safeguard
    - Metal Sound
    - Flash Cannon
    - Thunder Wave

    Tapu Bulu @ Grassium Z
    Ability: Grassy Surge
    EVs: 252 HP / 196 Atk / 4 Def / 36 SpD / 20 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Wood Hammer
    - Horn Leech
    - Superpower
    - Protect

  • Talonflame has fallen from grace because of the nerf to Gale Wings (it now works only if Talonflame is at full health). I don't think it's worth using nowadays.

If you want to have Water Pokemon on your team, there's Gyarados, which can provide Intimidate support, as well as Tapu Fini, which can solve the Dragon problem, and Milotic, which discourages Intimidate with Competitive:

    Gyarados:
    -Dragon Dance
    -Waterfall
    -Ice Fang/Earthquake
    -Protect
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 84 HP/252 Atk/4 Def/4 SDef/164 Spe
    Item: Lum Berry
    Ability: Intimidate

    Tapu Fini:
    -Substitute
    -Calm Mind
    -Muddy Water/Protect
    -Moonblast
    Nature: Calm
    EVs: 252 HP/44 Def/196 SAtk/4 SDef/12 Spe
    Item: Leftovers

    or
    -Hydro Pump
    -Moonblast
    -Muddy Water
    -Dazzling Gleam
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 252 HP/20 Def/164 SAtk/44 SDef/28 Spe
    Item: Choice Specs

    or
    -Hydro Pump
    -Moonblast
    -Nature's Madness
    -Heal Pulse/Protect
    Nature: Calm
    EVs: 244 HP/84 Def/140 SAtk/28 SDef/12 Spe
    Item: Sitrus Berry

    Milotic:
    -Scald
    -Ice Beam
    -Recover
    -Protect
    Nature: Calm
    EVs: 252 HP/76 Def/172 SAtk/4 SDef/4 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Sitrus Berry
    Ability: Competitive

Maybe Toxapex? You don't have a tank, so it looks rather well suited for you're team. Well, it can learn ice beam, but no one learns it ice beam because it has a better move pool, for it's defense and special defence.

No. Toxapex is too passive for doubles. Tapu Fini does the bulky Water role better because it has actual offensive presence and has STAB Moonblast/Dazzling Gleam to deal with Dragons. Read my post above yours for more.

  • Araquanid is a good contender too for a Water type in doubles. Can't be burned, has strong STAB and is incredibly slow to help against the Trick Room match up.

  • It's worth considering. You've got speed control against fast teams but nothing against Trick Room.

Ya I noticed that as well. Ive also made adjustments and switches. Prankster wasnt getting me anywhere I needed to be and Klefi terrible offense presence became a liability. I made 3 switches Started using Eevee and its Z move and installed a taunt with Tapu LeLe. Which was one of my replacements. I am getting more desirable results but still needs more testing.
