This romhack is exactly what I've been looking for, thanks!
Minor question, I know the romhack is more in line to keep the spirit of Gen 3, but since you've already added moves from later gens, do you think it'd be possible to make Hyper Voice and Covet normal again, and add Moonblast and Play Rough instead?
I ask mostly out of a flavour perspective to be honest, as this romhack is pretty much what I wanted to see in a long while, so thanks either way.

Cool! Thanks for that. I have a question; the modern exp share is in this game, right? Where do you get it? Maybe it could be like in ORAS where you get it after rescuing the guy in petalburg woods?

Oh and one more idea...maybe L and R shortcuts for pokeballs and running? Thanks again
Exp. Share is obtained in the same place as emerald, it hasn't changed.

And for the shortcuts, you can press L+R while entering in a wild battle and if you press A or B while doing so, you will instantly run. I've decided to make this prompts more common knowledge, so now you'll see it every time you enter a battle.

This romhack is exactly what I've been looking for, thanks!

Yes! I totally forgot about them. I have already added them, and I modified learnsets accordingly.
That said, no more moves will be added unless they are used to buff a type that doesn't have enough phy / sp moves.

Anyway, I've released 1.3.2. Here's the changelog:

Spoiler:
1.3.2
  • New stuff:
  • A new option called "Player IVs" has been added to the Challenges menu at the start of the game. All Pokémon caught will have 31 IVs in all 6 stats. It applies also to in-game trades, bred Pokémon and Wonder-traded Pokémon. With this option, together with "Trainer IVs" set to "Hard", you can remove IVs completely from the game which can be fun for some people. Or not, maybe you want an easier run.
  • Night backgrounds to all terrains (from 21:00 to 6:00).
  • Battling in the Battle Frontier will not show the Experience bar (it bothered me a lot).
  • The move Earth Power has been added to help Pokémon that use more Special Ground moves.
  • Moonblast and Play Rought have been added and Covet and Hyper Voice are Normal Type again.
  • The Celebi event has new and improved dialogues, as the ones that were used were from the very first implementation.
  • Entering a battle will show a prompt to instantly run with L + R.
  • The Summary Screen now shows a prompt for showing EVs and IVs with L and R.
  • The bag now shows a prompt for sorting the items in the bag by pressing START.
  • The party menu now shows a prompt for Switching Pokémon by pressing SELECT.

    Fixes:
  • Exp. Catch code has been updated again. Fixes learning a move while levelling up after a catch showing the just caught Pokémon.
  • Deoxys has Pokédex number 386 in all four forms.
  • Cut HM is... Green!
  • Azurill has the correct gender percentage. This bug is from vanilla.
  • The new Pokédex can now search Fairy Types.
  • Five Pokémon (Slaking, Kingdra, Milotic, Whiscash and Dusknoir) will not show their hidden, second ability in the new Pokédex. These secondary abilities cannot be obtained by the player, and only select trainers can use them while playing only in HARD difficulty.
  • L + R does not guarantee running from a Pokémon anymore (it was 100% before).

    Buffs / Nerfs:
  • Gulpin and Swalot are now Poison / Normal, and now Swalot can learn Recover.
  • Castform can learn... Tri-Attack!
  • Grumpig has had its level-up moves changed quite a bit. Only additions, no removals.
  • Typhlosion is again Fire / Ground and has had quite a lot of new move additions.
  • Bubble is now 30 damage, and Uproar 70.
  • Lots of Pokémon now have Earth Power.
  • Some Pokémon have been reverse nerfed as they didn't need any buff. Nothing exceptional, you probably won't notice it.

Will all pokemon that require trade to evolve have different evolution methods? I want an alakazam in my team but afaik, the evolution method hasn't been changed (I can't see it referenced anywhere).

Also the max beauty evolutions are a pain in the ass to grind up for a casual playthrough, could you possibly make a different evolution method for Roserade/Milotic?

How do you evolve Kadabra or Machoke or Graveler in this version, assuming we’re not trading to evolve.

Under features, gameplay related: Self-trader to evolve Pokémon that evolve by trade.

And no, Milotic evolves by beauty in the original so it stays the same. Roserade, while it's true that it evolves via Beauty, the threshold is lower as it required only 70 points of Beauty (compared to 170 from Milotic) which makes it pretty easy to evolve.

Going by this logic "in the original" then why even change any evolution methods in the first place. Using that as an excuse for 1 particular pokemon when others get a pass just breaks logic.

It's your own rom hack anyways, you can do with it what you please.

Maybe add a secondary evolution method for it cause berry mixing for an evolution is just a massive time-sink for no good reason, especially in a rom hack that adds so many other QoL features.

Hey! I'm always open to suggestions and everything. However, yes, my logic is that Milotic and Feebas are both hard to come by Pokémon, making them unique. I don't care if in newer generations it's easier, I want them to feel special just like they did back in 2005, and that's my logic for not changing it. And secondly, I haven't touched any other evolution method except for all the additional Pokémon that weren't present in the original so I don't know what you're talking about. Making trade evolutions work in-game doesn't mean their evolution methods are different. If you don't like it, that's okay, I can't please everyone.

However, with that said, I can think about making an optional feature to allow easier evolutions like Milotic, Kadabra and similar ones to be just Level or maybe day/night evolutions. That's actually a good idea, as I like to give options to the player. I was thinking of giving even more new options of different features, in order to create a modular hack-rom. Just don't expect any of this soon, as it will take a while.

I see you mentioned that you’re updating movepools. Do you have an anything I can refer to for a Pokémon’s movepool? For example, Marill is now a fairy-type, but does it learn any new fairy time attacking moves? Is there a way I can check?
https://github.com/resetes12/pokeemerald/blob/master/src/data/pokemon/level_up_learnsets.h

Since this hack is a "Modern" version of Emerald. Shouldn't the Game Corner Prizes
Be improved as well? They're kinda lame in the vanilla version, with just TM's and Dolls. Just a vague idea of sorts...
Maybe, I don't know which objects could be bought though.

Hi bro, I caught Lugia, but why Suicune doesn't appear in Shoal Cave? (while entei and raikou can appear and i have got them)
If you caught Lugia, the new update 1.3.3 should fix the issue. Just go to Lugia's Room (basically, where he stands) and that's it, Suicune should appear in Shoal Cave. Maybe that also makes Entei and Raikou re-appear... But it's fine. If for some reason that doesn't fix it, please DM me and I will fix it for you.

This issue should be fixed for everybody else. If you haven't caught or defeated Lugia, you're okay anyway but when you do remember to be in 1.3.3 or up.

I wasn't planning on releasing it yet, but oh well. Here's the changelog:

- 2 types of Exp. Share: gen 3-like and gen 6-like. You are given the gen 6 one by the Boss of Devon Corp as the original Emerald, and AFTER you obtain it you can buy "Exp. Share S" in the Slateport Mart. The "S" version is a hold item that works as it did in Gen 3. Please, keep me updated if you see any bug. It should work, but you never know.
- Added the "Fairy Gem" item so now you have a Fairy attack type boost. Can be obtained by defeating wild Azurrill but will be obtainable in the next update in the overworld at least once.
- And fixed catching Lugia not showing Suicune.

Does this Hack have the Pokemon XD move tutors?
No. Most moves that could be learned by Pokemon XD tutors can be obtained via level or egg moves. Doing it was such a tedious and slow job that I may have missed some Pokémon or moves. Please let me know if you see any mistake or missing move so I can add it.

Hey, loving the rom hack so far, but I have one question: Has the method to open the Sealed Chambers for the Regi Quintet changed? I tried the Emerald method and everytime i used Dig I just returned to the underwater spot.
Do I need to beat the Champion first?
You should read the braille messages then :)

Lol, i had to transcribe the braille using a chart, didn't really understand the change, but i really loved the Regieleki puzzle, that was really creative. Was the idea to give Regigigas Guts because Slow Start couldn't be programmed in?

Yeah, I just changed it because I wanted to. Makes everything feel fresh and it's fun to confuse people.
Regigigas has guts because it's really just a trophy Pokémon.
