Introduction
Teleios, the technotopian city-state. Seen by its citizens as a beacon of progress and knowledge, the metropolitan island city upholds the ideals of meritocracy and technocracy. Being geographically small (the city is but a speck on the map) and lacking in natural resources unlike larger regions such as Hoenn and Unova, Teleios compensates by giving birth to the biggest and greatest minds the world has ever seen. Teleions have enjoyed a quality of life that induces envy in the hearts of other countries, with avant-garde technology being ubiquitous and abundant opportunities accessible to anyone who is driven and innovative. In the eyes of an academic, Teleios is the city full of doors waiting to be opened. In the eyes of an entrepreneur, Teleios is the city full of investments ready to ripen. In the eyes of a trainer, Teleios is the city full of battles with twists and turns at every corner.
With great power comes great responsibility (and a great network of cables). As such, many people inevitably wonder how Teleios stays afloat amidst a sea of other regions and entities that are jealous of its amassed wealth. Teleios is unique in the sense that the city-state does not have a clearly-defined governing body. It is ruled by various factions vying for power, only held together by a council formed by the faction leaders who all desire to see Teleios prosper until the end of time. The Meletios Consulate, made up of technocrats, businesspeople, politicians and people of other valuable vocations, all work together to represent the Teleions as well as further the nation's progress. Factions keep one another in check, ensuring that there is no singular entity in absolute control over the city, constantly keeping an eye to see if any one of them subverts the Pact.
Yet, even amidst the shimmering skyscrapers and silver skyline, the neon city lights and brilliant luminaries, there are shadows lurking in the nooks and crannies. Every faction has its own darkness, and their leaders will exploit any chance to further their own machinations. A magician never unveils their tricks; a scientist never reveals their blueprints. Even in a city of glass, secrets lie. Transparency is but an illusion when one realizes that the light reflects and refracts in many ways. Rules and systems, like metal, can bend after all.
In a battlefield of wit and wisdom, are you armed, my fellow Teleions?
