Cat vs. Dog

You know how everyone calls Suicune, Entei and Raikou The legendary "dogs'? After much study into this topic, I feel they actually resemble felines more.

Suicune - Looking analytically at Suicune, the first apparent feature is its face formation. Its nose area ALMOST could MAYBE qualify as a snout, sending the impression of canine as a jolt. With further inspection it is apparent that Suicune's body is rather lithe and swift, with neither exceptionally long nor short legs. Another observation could be its rather large ribcage, undoubtably suitable for swift movement; hence cheetahs, leopards, panthers, etc. Although very controversal, I still wish to claim Suicune as feline.

Entei - Entei isn't quite as confusing as Suicune when it comes to species. Clearly, Entei has the skull structure of a feline. Large eyesockets, feline-like maw. The confusing area is often its paws because of their exceptional size. Entei's legs, however, are proportioned differently than that of a dog's, earning its claim of being also feline.

Raikou - Now who COULDN'T figure this one out? Raikou is most definitely, purely, 100% a feline. It's sabor-like teeth are a dead giveaway, undoubtably inspired by the extinct sabor-tooth tiger. Not to mention it's large eyesockets and leg structure. Now my friends, what is a tiger? Yes, a feline.

:laugh: I've always thought of this too, I just didn't have facts like those to back it up.

I think Raikou looks like a cat, but I'm unsure about the other two.

When I first played Crystal, I thought they were all big cats...

Personally I think...

Raikou is totally a sabre-tooth tiger/cat/feline.

Entei is more feline than canine...it sorta strikes me as lionish. Still, it seems like something of a huge dog/cat mix.

Suicune looks fully like a canine/dog to me. A fast, lean, deep-chested one with longish legs. Making it the only true Legendary Dog. xD

Suicune is do gto me, the others were cats to me, but cats don't really run around, thats more of a dog trait.

I have one thing to do in response to that.

*stares at Meowth's and Persain's running around everywhere*

But since all three have to be related in species, Nintendo probably felt they were more related to dogs without really taking all this detail into account.

Suicune and Entei resemble a bit of a dog.
Entei looks more of a cat though, Raikou looks mostly like a feline...
Maybe that's why Raikou's my favorite...

Yeah, what they do is more canine-ish.

A features features are quite feling but altogether they look more dog than cat.

Well, wild cats run around all over the place, and that's what Raikou and to some extent Entei resemble. Not domestic cats (and even those sometimes do.)

However, I still call them "The Legendary Dogs" simply because that's what they supposedly are, I like dogs better, and they're all supposed to be the same species. I guess even the two cat-looking ones could be canine or canine-related.

I like cats better that's how I visualize Entei, Raikou and Suicune, as cats

See I always thought Suicune resembled a Horse more than anything. It was the facial features and bod structure that had me convinced.

Still...to me Suicune's a dog. The other two, questionable...very feline, but called Legendary Dogs. Ah well..:\

I've debated about whether or not they're dogs or cats too. I think everybody probably has at some point. I think I agree with Manaphy1128, they're more cat-like than anything else.

Yeah, I know it sounds rediculous, but I figured it this way. Raikou,obviously a cat. Entai looked more hound-ish to me, and Suicune looked like a horse. So that's my theory. It may be denile, but it made me happy!

Okay, To try and get this straight...
This looks a lot like a Tiger, no?

This actually looks a bit like a Wolf/Hound, I'd go for dog with him.

Hmm... Well, It's both feline-ish and canine-ish...

Raikou is obviously feline-ish, when I look at Entei though, I don't think dog, I think Lion. A Lion is a cat. It's "snout" isn't big enough to be a K9 so I don't think it is one. Suicune just has the body of a cat-like animal, cheetah, leopard, jaguar, even my own cat who I have right in front of me. It's "snout" is what's questionable.

Agree totally, except about Suicune...I mean, its body could look like one of those, but some speedy dogs are also built that way, so overall I think it's canine.

When I was playing Pokémon Gold the other day I listened to there cry's and I can say Raikou sounds like a tiger, Entei sounds like a Bark of a dog and Suicune sounds like a purr of a cat so I am going to say Raikou and Suicune are feline's and Entei is a Dog!
