Professer Alexander Minkowski PhD.
Hack of: Ruby
Features:
- The vibrant new region of Vicitalis filled with stunning locations, puzzling riddles and exciting challenges! Diverse cities include the cyberpunk Neonbright City, the wild-west oil/mining Drygulch City and the spooky Murkreek Town deep in the heart of the bayou.
- New storyline! Explore the region, battle gym leaders, rescue the professor and solve the mystery of The Brotherhood and the powerful pokemon Vicitraho.
- New Characters including Casey the protagonist, his friends Blaine and Louis, the reclusive Prof. Minkowski, his closest friend Prof. Harding and
and the enigmatic trainer Hope.
- New Gym Leaders and Elite 4, each with unique pokemon startegies intended to make defeating them all the more challenging and fun!
- Fun new activities! Snowboard down the daring pistes at Prestige Resort. Take your chances at the Monte Christo Casino. Take part in aquatic races in the bay of Tropica City. And take part in the ultimate knockout trainer tournament at the Futuretech Stadium in Aeonopolis City. Plus, pokemon contests return!
- 73 new fakemon, including new evolutions and prevolutions for exsisting pokemon. Also, some Sinnoh pokemon will be included.
- TM/HM list has been replaced with a different set of TMs that make movesets even more customisable!
- New moves, such as Hot Shot and Ignition have been introduced as well as some Generation IV moves such as Omnious Wind.
- Step on to the property ladder! Now, instead of a secret base, you will have the option to purchase property in the region. Fancy a rustic farmhouse in the middle of the Halcyon Plains? Or would you rather own a luxurious 99th-floor penthouse in the high-rises of Aeonopoils City? Perhaps you are the party type, in which case you might just settle down in the Presidential Suite in the Monte Cristo Casino.

Region: Vicitalis
Further Info
Spoiler:
This region map is a slightly more accurate representation than my previously uploaded one. Region info may still change. New areas may be placed where key is on map. For more region info feel free to make a post, PM or VM me.
LITTLEBEACH TOWN: This quaint little seaside town on the South-Eastern of Diluculo Island is our hero/heroine's home. The town has few inhabitants and is fairly remote although it becomes more popluar in the spring and summer time when the city-dwellers of mainland Vicitalis come here to escape the hustle of the city, breathe in some fresh air and sea the unique flowers on the island come into bloom. This is how your mother and you earn a living with the little, cosy hotel you own and run. It also gives you a chance to hear traveller's tales of enthralling adventures in exotic locations with amazing pokemon. As the current at the South and Eastern sides of the island is slower, a small beach has been allowed to form here, prefect for sandcastles and beachball, that is not overcrowded like the enourmous beaches in Eastern Vicitalis. Aside from the hotel there is also a post office in the town, owned by the kind and elderly Mr and Mrs Croft, which also acts as the town's general store. Other inhabitants include Skippy, the postman, and your best friends Louis and Blaine. also lives here. Your brother Damien also used to live here.
FREEWHARF TOWN: Built into a small cove at the North-Eastern corner of Diluculo Island, Freewharf Town is aslo the largest town on the island. Saying this, it is still relatively small compared to towns and cities on the mainland. As the name suggests, it functions mainly as a fishing port as well as the site of the ferry terminal to mainland Vicitalis. Its is known worldwide for the quality of the fish caught here and for its friendly townsfolk. The town resembles a New-England fishing village and the harbour is run by harbour master Pete. The town has a small convenience store (not open on Sundays or between 09:00 and 07:00) as well as a fish market held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 06:00 to 12:00. Although it lacks a pokemon centre, the Doc will kindly offer to heal your pokemon at his surgery and his receptionist can sell you potions and status healers. Also here is the island's meeting hall ,which is the center for new gossip and important civil debates, as well as the school that you and your friends attend run by the strict, yet caring, Miss Whippet. However, the town isn't all that pleasant as also living here is the notorious school bully, Crunch. Since he first could walk he's been making other children's lives a misery with his enormous fists and equally brawly pokemon. I'm sure you can teach him a lesson eventually though...
CAPE INFINITY: This windy headland on the Western-most side of Diluculo Island is surrounded by steep cliffs and covered only in the fragile grass that can survive being battered day and night by the elements. The current here is at its fastest and within seconds the sea can change from calm to raging. At the end of the Cape lives the reclusive Physicist Prof. Minkowski who moved in here shortly after your brother left the island to seek his fortune. Not much is known about the Professer, even his groceries are delivered by post and place in a special flap in his front door, which always remains locked. Very little is known about his work, except that he regularly orders packages of hardware and equipment for his laboratory. Rumours exsist throughout the island of what he might get up to there. Little children tell their classmates stories of the Frankenstein's monster he is building while adults murmur about how he used to work for Futuretech, a major corporation on the mainland. You youself havn't really concerned yourself with the man, that is until you are asked to deliver him a package...
SOUTHPORT CITY: The first mainland city our hero encounters is a grey, menotinous cargo port (baring similarities to Southampton in England) whic acts as a waypoint for ships destined for Aeonopolis City in the East and Vestige City in the West as well as ships from other regions. It is fairly built up and so has a Pokemon Center as well a Supermarket. V1 Radio is located here and broadcasts throughout all Victalis, with the eception of some desert, ocean and mountainous areas. There is a long narrow strip of beach here but the water is poluted on so you'll mainly only find tentacool and magikarp. As well as the ferry to Diluculo Island there are other ferries too. The Freight rail network (FRN) ends here. Located here are an integrated steelworks and petroleum refinery.
WHISPERING CLIFFS: These cliffs lie between Southport City and Chime Forest/Melody Thicket. There are numerous caves built in to the faces of these cliffs that have become popular with pot-holers.
CHIME FOREST/MELODY THICKET: Take the path along the Whispering Cliffs west of Southport and you will come to this dense patch of deciduous woodland. Music can always be heard here coming from between the trees as it is home to several Chingling as well as Bug and Grass pokemon and trainers wanting to test their skills. The shrine of the song is said to be hidden somewhere in the wood.
ODE TOWN: They say the town was built long ago by people in inticed by the sound of the Chingling nearby. It hasn't changed much in 500 years due to the dense woodland all around making it more difficult to reach by automobile. Traditions are well kept here and the shops are small and family run. The well in the center of the town is said to bring musical expression to those who drink its water. There is no Pokemon Center but there is the local Apothacary which can heal your Pokemon free of charge as well as supply you with cheap and effective, yet very bitter, herbal medicines.
MYRTLE VALLEY: A large, flat, u-shaped valley with a lot of wetland and greenery. There is a garden centre for the green-fingered amongst us.
MYRTLE CITY: Set in a lush, green, lowland valley with several lakelets and ponds lies this fairly-modern city. At the Western end of the Vicitalis Cycleway, the town is crazy about cycling. There are many bike-related shops and they hold several races annually. With everyone using bicycles to travel arpound the town, cars are uncommon and as a result there is almost no air or water pollution. There is a special pokeball shop. The city's builings are a fusion of suburban US style and Heathrow terminal 5 style glass structures.
NEW FOREST: If you head North from Southport City and up into the mountains you will reach this awkward-looking forestry plantation. 40 years ago many coniferous trees were planted here in order to supply wood and paper for export. This casued controversy for eco groups however as not only did these trees look severly out of place in this upland valley, but Drifloon being blown South by the mountain breeze got caught in the trees if they fly too low. This has however attracted futher intrest to the area however as people hope to see the seldom-seen Drifloon up close.
HYDROVILLE DAM: Yet another controversial government scheme was the Hydroville Basin Scheme. As Southport City's steelworks and petroleum refinery grew in size so two did the electricity demand. Also, the water supply to Southport was become increasingly polluted from the city's industry and shipping. Eventually, 50 years ago, the government built a dam and flooded part of the upper valley to make a resevoir. Now this dam provides the electricity for all of Southern Vicitalis. A town sprung up nearby (which grew even further with the completion of the Cycleway) and it was named Hydroville.
HYDROVILLE CITY: A relatively-new city near the resevoir of the same name, but far enough as so not to pollute the water supply, Hydroville is a pleasent, casual city at the east end of the Cycleway. Like Myrtle City, cycling has become poplular here but Hydroville's main attraction gather's geologists from all over the world to see Howling Cave. The Hydroville geological society is the biggest in the region. And houses some rare and precious stones.
HYDROVILLE RESERVOIR: The huge body of water held back by the Hydroville Dam.
HOWLING CAVE: A maze-like cavern named for the shrieks and wails that can be heard throughout, only the uppermost levels of this cave have been lit so far. This cave is a hot spot for geologists eager to see the amazing cavern structures such as the enormous stalagmites that form up from the ground and the cascading waterfalls in its heart. In the deeper parts of the cave, precious and semi-precious tones have been found but due to a preservation order, only the Hydroville Geological Society is allowed to remove these stones. Scientists believe the shrieking noise is the result of gales on the other side of the mountain blowing in to holes on the cavern's celilings, or perhaps something else is causing these horrific noises...
CYCLEWAY: Created to view the magnifecent upland scenery close-up, this enormous road strecthes from Hydroville City to just past Myrtle City. It comprises of a mainly downhill route with several river crossing and ends up in the lush Myrtle Valley. Several pokemon are known only to appear on this route.
RADIENT CITY: This city is often considered to be the most beautiful in the region. Wild mountain flowers and trees decorate this vibrant city on the shores of Lake Valient. The architechture is an unusual fusion of Japanese Pagoda with elements of Gaudi's Barcelona. The result is a flamboyant city with the highest life expectancy in the region, no doubt down to the clean air and the hot springs at Lake Valient.
LAKE VALIENT: Vicitalis' largest natural lake is surrounded on all sides by wild mountain flowers, geysers and craters from extinct volcanoes. In fact, the only volcano in this area that is still active is Mt. Valor.
LAKE VALIENT GEOTHERMAL PLANT: Providing clean, safe electrical energy to the West of Vicitalis is this power station's purpose. The natural heat from the earth in this area make it perfectly located for maximum power output.
LAKE VALIENT HOT SPRINGS: This world famous spa is visited by many members of the rich and famous. Its healing and regenerating properties have earned in the title "The Fountain of Youth" by many of its fans. Using the water from the hot springs, as well as using the leftover water from the power station means that there is always a constant supply of the revitalising water.
HEROIC PATH: The winding path that leads to Mt. Valor is only accesible to those who have proven themselves in some way or another. As a result it is incredibly barren, requiring much skill to climb.
MT. VALOR: This mighty volcano is the only active one left in Vicitalis. As the wind in the region blows mainly from the North-East, Radient City is protected from its clouds of ash and sulphur while the heat of the volcano is used for the local Geothermal Plant and Spa. A local legend states that the mountain is only still active due to a mighty pokemon dwelling deep within. Though scientists believe it is just its strategic placing on the dead centre of several faultlines.
CALAMITY PASS: This narrow gap in the mountains south of Lake Valient is plagued by earthquakes and landslides due to its position on one of the regions major faultlines. As a result, travel though here is dangerous. This porpted the government to construct the Cycleway as an alternate method of reaching Myrtle City and, to the south, Vestige City.
BLINDMARSH: South of the Myrtle Valley and Calamity Pass is this enourmous open marsh land. Many centuries ago it was a rich, vast farmland producing some of the best crops in the region with the volcanic soils that linger down from Mt.Valor. An unexplained natural disaster however caused this low-lying area to flood. Now its is a barren expanse of marshland inhabited by only a few. It is even more sparsely poulated due to the thick fog that blankets the whole expanse, obscuring vision further than six feet from the eye, earning it its name.
VESTIGE CITY: This London-esque Victorian-brick style City is the capital of Vicitalis and the 2nd largest in the region. It remains very proud of its heritage and the National Museum is located here. Although no longer a Monarchy, tradition is still kept and the Royal Palace is home to the Royal Family when they arn't at their private island in the Sevii region, where they seem to spend most of their time sipping Pina Coladas and sunbathing. Regent's Square is the City's Centre and is overlooked by the Vicitalis Clock Tower. The Tower is permenantly the tallest building in the city as laws allow no building to be taller than it. It is a symbol of the significance of Time to the region and its legends. The City has an airport to the west, as well as Port Regal in the Eastern half of the City where numerous ships arrive and depart from daily. Aside from these, the other main features are *** Park and its small boating lake, the Zoo, where examples of the region's pokemon are housed and of course Clancy's Department Store which has everything from Toys to Fashion to Trainer Items to Jewellery. The Pokemon league HQ is here. If travel around this massive city seems too daunting, a tram service operates between Regent's Square and Port Regal.
BLIZZARD VERGE: Straight out of Howling Cave, adventures are faced with traveling across the mountainside totally exposed to the most ferocious snowstorms in the region. Keep your wits about you and try not to freeze to death.
ALPINE CITY: In the style of famous ski resorts such as Aspen, Banff and Cortina, this is known as the most luxurious ski resort in the pokemon world. Items here are very expensive and many guests come here by helicopter in order to avoid traviling up the windy Wintergreen Trail or braving the pitch-black Howling Cave and the frigid snowstorms of Blizzard Verge. The snow here is ever present as the winds from the North-East blow snow of neaby peaks and down into this quiet valley. The opulence of the Resort's Clientelle are reflected by the local buisinesses. An example of this is the Merriweather Hotel. The five-star rooms and world famous bistro and apres-ski bar is far from the B&B owned by our hero! Mr. James C. Merriweather III will make sure your stay is enjoyable, if you can afford it that is! ***'s Board & Ski is the main place for those wishing to buy or rent skis or snowboards and head up the mountain. The region's finest pokemon daycare is loacted here for those who want to leave their prize Glameow in comfort while they sample the slopes. At the western part of the City is the Gondola that will take you up for a days skiing, that is if you have a board and lift pass.
PRESTIGE RESORT: Take a gondola up the mounatin and enjoy a day on some of the best kept pistes in the world. There are also wild pokemon to be caught up here and trainers eager to battle.
WINTERGREEN TRAIL: Coming down from Alpine City is much easier this way than through the treacherous Blizzard Verge. The trees here smell of peppermint and the sun is always shining, but not enough to melt the snow.
MELTWATER GORGE: The snow melts down here creating torrential rapids. Keep out of the water and you'll get down safely!
HALCYON PLAINS: Simlar to the Great Plains and Canadian Praries, this massive bucolic area is the largest explansive of flat land in the region. Setllements are few and farm between but the scenery is glorious with majestic rivers and woodland. Farms and ranches are common here and you can pick up some MooMoo milk from a Miltank farm or view the eloquent Taurus in their enormous fields. Down by the rivers you can see many more wonders and catch Bidoof AND Bibarrel among other pokemon that arn't located anywhere else in the region.
MEADOWRANCH TOWN: This town is built around farming. Here is located the Meadowranch Country Fair & Farmers' Market which showcases some of the best produce in the area and has many fun side-shows and attractions for people and pokemon of all ages. Don't forget to grab some Candyfloss!
AMITY AIRFIELD: Located in the Northern part of the Halcyon Plains, this small landing strip allows farm produce to be delivered to the far away cities of Vestige City and Aeonopolis City. There are also Biplanes here that are used for Crop Dusting. Could the grass around the airfield be a place to catch Drifloon?
DUSTY RIDGE: This dusty trail is at the edge of the Halcyon Plains where it meets with Meltwater Gorge. Head up this ridge to reach Narrow Canyon.
WINDRUSH CANYON: The air here is much drier. Although this canyon was originally formed by a sweeping river, it is now no more than a trickle, less than a foot or two wide.
DRYGULTCH CITY: Where the canyon starts to widen and the river has completely dried up we find this mighty Wild West-esque city. A gold-rush boosted the city's population a century ago when silver, copper, lead and of course gold were discovered in the rocks here. Now the mine is enormous. Although the ore is starting to run out, the City's economy is till booming due to the more recent discovery of oil here. The Drygulch City Oil Well now extracts oil which is then transported south on the FRN (freight train network) to Southport City where it is refined to petrol and exported. The river may flow no more but you can still quench your thirst at the local saloon and grab a chat with the members of the local miners' union.
STORMY MESA WIND FARM: Atop a large mesa where the winds from the desert rage perpetually we find this wind farm which supplies power to all of Northern Vicitalis.
GREAT DESERT: An enormous desert that encompasses a gargantuan area of North-Western Vicitalis. The desert contains many mysteries. I'll say no more...
NORTHERN OASIS: Nestled between several peaks within the Great Desert is this pleasent oasis. The spring here has saved many an explorer from dying of thirst.
SANCTUARY TOWN: A small town that has grown up in the Northern Oasis. Here desert explores and their pokemon can rest and recover and restock supplies to help their jounrney in this calm middle-eastern style town.
THE PYRAMIDS: Built by an ancient civilisation in the middle of the Great Desert to house their rulers' remains. Why here? Many mysteries to be solved here...
THORNY SCRUB: At the eastern-most edge of the desert lies this dusty chapparal littered with Cacti and, by default, Cacnea.
NEONBRIGHT CITY: Situated beside the Thorny Scrub lies this shimmering megalopolis of pleasure. A combination of Cyberpunk Tokyo and Las Vegas Casino in architechtural style, this place has everything enjoyable. Rock concerts are held at the Sonic Arena. You can see the world famous Kaleido Circus here in all its spectacle and eccentricity. Most people come here for the Monte Christo Casino, the only legal casino in the region. The games here are dazzling and exciting but not as much as the prizes up for grabs for the winners. Veteran gamblers can evern challenge Antonnio Monte Christo himself but the say he has never been beaten in his own casino...
LUCKY HIGHWAY: Between Neonbright City and Rustshore City is this open road. There is fishing in the rivers and wild pokemon in the grass. What more could you want.
RUSTSHORE CITY: Styled similarly to Blackpool or Coney Island, back in the day people would flock from all over to visit this seaside resort. That was, until an oil tanker sunk several miles offshore scaring the once perfect coastline. The oil maybe cleared up now but the visitors never returned. The seafront is all run down now and the city suffers from urban decay. The amusement pier lies empty and broken and the carousel spins no more. No body wants to visit Rustshore when the can visit places like Neonbright City and Tropica City. The ferry service that used to run is now shut down, forcing travellers to use their pokemon to cross the sea. The aquarium here is the last attraction to remain open but it is in a sorry state. Perhaps with some new investment this place could be great again.
RIBBON SEA: Bewtween Rustshore City and Tropica City lies this sea. The water is relatively warmer than most seas but gets progressively warmer from West to East. Several small islands are scattered about but they are tiny compared so islands in the South of the region. It is one of the busiest and most diverse shipping lanes in the world with oil tankers and container ships going to Southport City as well as Cruise Ships destined for Tropica City.
EVERGLADES: Surrounding Tropica City is a vast Mangrove Swamp which many bug, grass and water pokemon call home.
TROPICA CITY: Similar in style to Miami. Situated at the warm, Eastern-side of the Ribbon Sea near mangrove swamps is this sub-tropical city. The city is the centre of chic and pokemon contests for the region. The long beach with its crstal clear water is ideal for sunbathing and watersports. The Tropica City Cup is a race for water pokemon and their trainers and takes place in the bay. Tourists arrive in the city at the enormous luxury Cruise Ship Terminal from all over the world to enjoy these watersport events and the beach. Tourists can also explore the vast everglades or visit the *** Mall, the largest shopping center in the region. VTV's headquarters are here further increasing the glamour of the location.
CARMINE REEF: South-West of Tropica City is this long coral reef that is home to many pokemon. If you can Dive, you can explore this underwater paradise.
VICITALIS NATIONAL PARK: North-East of the Everglades lies this National Park. While trainers are welcome to explore they are forbidden from catching pokemon here.
EVERGLADES SAFARI ADVENTURE!: Although not allowed to catch pokemon in the National Park, this section next to the Everglades has been opened up as a safari zone for paying guests where pokemon ca be caught that are not normally found in the region.
SHADY BAYOU: East of the Everglades and Tropica City is this dark, misty Louiseanna-Style bayou. The bayou is too narrow, shallow and misty for ships so this area is isolated and very, very creepy. Ghosts haunt this bayou and you will need to be able to Surf, Cut and Clear to get through.
MURKREEK TOWN: In the heart of the bayou is this Louisianna-style town on stilts. Superstition and tradition is well kept and outsiders are viewed carefully by locals. The town's isolation has kept it this way. A master fisherman, is said to live here.
DARK SWAMP: If you venture North of Murkreek Town into the deepest darkest parts of the bayou you will find this Ferraligator infested swamp. Even the locals are afraid to go this far upstream...
ANCASTER MANSION: An old plantation house long abandonned. It is said to be haunted by its previous owners. No one dares venture here...
ATOM ROAD: Between Shady Bayou and Aeonopolis City is this long road. Off of it is the Futuretech Nuclear Plant
FUTURETECH NUCLEAR PLANT: An ambitious project by the Futuretech corporation, this enormous fission power plant is the most sophisticated of its kind. Near enough Aeonopolis to be easily accesible for its workers and near the bayou enough for it to be unoticeable, it supplies power to all of Eastern Vicitalis with surplus left over to sell to other regions. The waste is minimal due to the new "Recycling Reactor" thats also part of the complex. One interesting thing is that a certain species of pokemon is accidently created during some reactions... The Aenopolis monorail extends to here, allowing easy transportation of workers.
AEONOPOLIS CITY: In constrast to Vestige City which endevours to protect the past, Aeonopolis has a motto of "out with the old, in with the new" and as a result is known as the "Ever-Changing City". It is similar to a more futuristic version of New York or Seattle with enormous high-rises. It is the region's largest city and comercial epicentre, with the headquarters of Futuretech located here in the Kronos Building. Futuretech are responsible for many of our modern technologies and gadgets. They constructed the Nuclear Power Station. They also bought Devon Corporation from Steven Stone (who wanted to focus instead on pokemon and rare stones) and as a result brought out the PokeNav XL. They also have manufactured the long awaited Masterball v5.0 and also managed to release the Porygon upgrade software to the mass market. No corporation has a larger R&D Dpt. ensuring they remain ahead of the game. From hoovers to satellites and video games to aeroplanes, Futuretech make it all. Your brother Damien lives here and even works for Futuretech. Port Neo is in the west of the city and the airport is in the east. The Futuretech Stadium offers trainers the chance to come forward and take part in knockout tournaments in front of huge crowds (similar to Battle Dome in Pokemon Emerald) making the city a fantasic place for trainers. A free monorail service makes travel easy within the city from Port *** to Century Square to the Airport and then an extra service to the Power Plant.
DIES ISLAND: Trainers who have obtained all 8 official Pokemon League gym badges in the region can recieve the exclusive ferry ticket to this island by visiting the pokemon league HQ in Vestige City. Here, the trainers must face an arduous challenge through forest, mountain, lake and cave to reach Ascension Castle.
ASCENSION CASTLE: Here the most talented trainers in the region come face to face with the Elite 4 and reigning champion of the Vicitalis region in an attempt to be crowned regional champion. Good Luck!
NOX ISLAND: Out of all the 4 islands of Vicitalis, it has the strangest past. The beach to the north has strange stone figures erected (no giggles please) across it. Then there is Mt. Noctis at which, 3 years ago, a meteor struck and the resultant explosion of debris from the mountain showered the island. Injuring many and killing 7 islanders. The town of Prayer Town was almost completely leveled by the blast and debris. Only the Bell Tower remains of the original buildings.
PRAYER TOWN: Located on the western side of Nox Island, this town is filled with despair. 3 years ago an explosion occured at Mt. Noctis that overlooks the town. The explosion was later confirmed to be a meteorite. Many people were injured and homes were destroyed. 7 Islanders tragicly lost their lives. The only building that remains fro the old town is Bell Tower. An aincient bell would be rung during times of joy and celebration. Now, in memory of those lost, it has never to ring again as the last time it rung was due to the tremours of the explosion. A small chapel is also located in the town in memory of those who died.
RELIC BEACH: The northern beach of Nox Island boasts 7 strange stone figures. Some people believe this foresaw the 7 who died in the "Dark Day" explosion. Others are skeptical of this. Some have become squinty as a result of the explosion, but none face each other directly and look out in all directions.
NOCTIS CRATER: This enormous crater was left by the meteorite that struck the mountain that once was here. Around the crater is a barren, lifeless landscape but some flowers are begining to grow near the small tarn that has formed in the bowl of the crater. Although tragic as it is, scientists believe they were actually lucky it hit Mt.Noctis, for if the meteor plunged into the sea, the resultant tsunami would have caused much more devistation and over over a wider area. The force of the meteorite impact was so great that no evidence remains of the meteor itself as it fragmented into infinite tiny pieces. The only evidence scientists have to prove it was a meteor are eyewitness acounts of a burst of white light into the ground and small samples of mysterious dust found around the island after the event. The dust itself does not match any mineral or rock found on this planet.
MYSTIC PEAK: North of the National Park is this towering, mysterious peak. It is mermentantly shrouded in mist for reasons that can't be explained. Those who try and climb it or parachute onto it soon find themselves lost and their navigation equipment useless due to an unknown force at work. As a result, aeroplanes routes must bypass it.
MYSTIC SHRINE: There is rumoured to be an ancient shrine at the top of Mystic Peak where a legendary pokemon once came to earth...

Transport
Transport will become much more important with the downgrading of FLY to a TM move.
Spoiler:
By Rail:
Although Vicitalis lacks a passenger railway line, there is a freight train service between Southport City and Drygultch City. I'm sure the foreman would let you ride in exchange for a favour. Also Vestige City and Aeonopolis City are very large. To allow easy movement these cities have trams and a monorail respectively.
By Sea:
While surfing about still plays a major part, naval transport is quicker and easier and also nessesary early in the game. Ferry services are available in several towns and cities and Tropica City has a cruise ship port.
By Air:
Vestige City, Aeonopolis City and Neonbright City all have functioning airports so you can easily catch a Driffelin from them. Amity Airfield, while technically a cargo airport is also a place where you can hitch a ride if you are very nice to someone.
By Everything Else:
Be on the lookout, people everywhere can offer you a lift, often free of charge! So don't hesitate to talk to anybody and everybody.
