I am writing this fanfic to hone my (very poor) writing skills. So please, any help would be appreciated in making this better. Anything to improve my thingy would be nice. It is slightly long for just one chapter, and I already know of things that need improving, but I'd like to hear the public view first. Without further adoo (or something like that), my fan fic:
Spoiler:
"Everyone has their secrets, some hold the darkest…"
(PROLOGUE)
A long time ago, there was an old and isolated region named Isshu. Way in the beginning of the Pokemon Universe, there only lived one "legendary Pokemon", Arceus, the fabled first being and created everything in the Pokemon Universe. That part is true. However, the rumor that it was born of an egg in a dark void is urban legend.
When Arceus's egg was created, a protective cloak of dirt and earth was formed around it. This sphere of dirt is later known as the Earth, where people live in the Pokemon Universe. When the egg hatched, the being known as Arceus came out. As Arceus departed from the egg, he subconsciously created matter around him and formed planets at his whim. Knowing his ability to create anything in the realm of possibility, Arceus formed the first sign of life, Mew.
Mew would be the root of all Pokemon and Arceus designed it to do just that. As Arceus gave Mew all the qualities of himself (supreme invulnerability, form changing, and the unknown ability to form matter) he noticed a distinct flaw with it, Mew isn't as powerful (or even close to the power) as Arceus. Arceus felt that Mew could handle the responsibility of forming the rest of the Pokemon Universe and sealed himself away.
Before Arceus departed, he wanted to split up his power incase Mew's descendants attempted to steal it. He took all of his majestic abilities and sealed them away into plates of mystic properties and spread the plates all across the Earth. Once his final deed was done, Arceus buried himself into a colossal stone prison and set it into the sky, thus creating the moon. In his newly created universe, Acreus rested and his child, Mew, started the Human-Pokemon Alliance.
Thousands of years later, many regions were discovered and became allies. Sadly, one region is cut off from others and is oblivious to anyone around them. That unknown region is famously known for keeping its old ways, Isshu. If one would travel deep enough into the Isshu Region, they would find ancient relics depicting the start of the world and the hatching of Arceus. Some say that Isshu is the start of all humanity and even Mew itself, but it is only speculation. But what if? That would be one big secret Isshu is hiding, I wonder what else Isshu is hiding…
(END OF PROLOGUE)
"Sosuke! Sosuke!" A quaint voice yells out into the darkness. A boy around the age of fifteen, is floating in this darkness. Once he hears these words, he begins to move. His emerald eyes drearily open and his hands begin move. Slowly, this teenager regains consciousness and begins to adjust his orange cap on the top of his head. Fear begins to fill his mind as he starts to realize where he is.
"Sosuke! Where are you?" The omnipresent voice yells once again. The teenager reaches out into the darkness trying to grasp something but fails to touch anything. He eventually gives up and lets his arm fall down, limp and unmoving.
"Where am I?" Sosuke thinks, "Who is calling me?"
"It's me, Miho! Sosuke, can you hear me?" the voice yells out. Sosuke pulls himself together and is attempting to adjust to floating in the dark. Just as Sosuke is about to gather himself together, a beam of light shines towards him in the distance.
"What is this light?" Sosuke thinks to himself as he shields his eyes from it. That beam of light condensed itself and created a path from him and something far off. Off in the distance, Sosuke can see his childhood friend, Miho, running towards him.
Miho's long, brown hair bounces off her chest and her arms wave frantically in the air. Sosuke, upon further examination, notices a few changes with her. She wore brown, heavy-duty boots instead of the elegant shoes her parents bought her at her fifteenth birthday party a few months ago. The pants she wore were shorter than he had ever seen, it's a wonder how she can stand the frigid coldness this darkness holds. She kept her white sleeveless shirt, but she had on a black jacket that made her look slight vicious. All in all, Miho looked like the rebellious girl she always has been. In fact, Sosuke almost felt mesmerized by her beauty.
"Sosuke! I've found you!" she said with tears streaming down her eyes, "After all of this searching I've found you!" Out of nowhere, a figure materialized between them.
This figure was huge and had a strange resemblance to a four-legged creature. Although light illuminated the whole place, only a silhouette of the creature was shown. Within the silhouette was thousands of clusters of stars and planets, it was almost space-like. Even if Sosuke couldn't tell what this monster is by looks, he felt as if he knew it. As Sosuke was pondering on the identity of this thing, the picture began to clear up. The beast's face became apparent aswell as its body.
"Impossible…", Sosuke said, "It can't be! Arceus!"
"Yes," the being said, "It is I, Arceus. I have created everything you live for today. I am the creator and the destroyer, the maker and the deliverer. The world is falling away from what I want it to be, and so I need a vessel to carry out my plan. You Sosuke, a mere commoner, shall be my container. Sosuke, you shall wield the power of an entity, do not let this power go to waste." Once Arceus finished, Sosuke began to feel very drowsy and fainted. Everything went black.
"Do you think he'll be okay professor?" Miho's voice asked.
"I don't know, he seems to be in a very fragile state of mind right now," an older woman responded, "Something such as a violent shock could do permanent damage to him."
"What's going on here?" Sosuke thought, "Was that stuff earlier just a dream?"
Sosuke wanted to tell them he's alright, but for some reason, his body couldn't move. It is like he is under a trance and he can't do anything about it. After a few minutes of trying to tell them he's alright, but being unable to do anything, Sosuke felt a sharp pain in his right arm. After the pain, he felt better and could start to talk to Miho and the other woman.
"Guys……. I'm….. alright……" Sosuke mumbled trying to force out a smile, "It's okay……… I'm……. cool." He tried to get up, but even thinking about it send streaks of pain throughout his entire body. Although still dizzy, Sosuke could still make out the woman standing next to Miho.
"Is that…..you?" Sosuke fumbled out the words, "P-Professor Araragi?"
"Sshhhhh Sosuke…." Professor Araragi said stroking Sosuke's head, "Don't talk." For a quick second Sosuke blushed, but hid it as soon as he noticed. Professor Araragi seemed to notice, but decided to ignore it.
"Sosuke, you were kidnapped three nights ago by some member of Team Plasma." Professor Araragi explained, "When the police found you, you were lying unconscious on the floor near the battered kidnapper. Nobody knows what happened that night, nobody but you. Do you perhaps know what went on that night, dear?"
Although Sosuke rammed through his brain of everything he knew, his tenth birthday party, his first befriended Pokemon, and even his first kiss, he couldn't recall what happened that night. As a matter in fact, he didn't know he was unconscious for three days. All he remembers is that he went to sleep one night, something woke him up, then he appeared in "the dream" with Arceus, and now he is here.
"Nevermind dear," Professor Araragi jolted out, "I came here for a different matter anyways."
"Do you mean….." Miho excitedly asked, "We get our Pokemon today!?"
Araragi pulled out a bag hidden under the bed Sosuke was lying on and revealed three Pokeballs with three elements drawn on them: one with fire, one with water, and one with grass. Aside to different elements drawn on each Pokeball; the upper portion of the Pokeball, the part that is usually red, has been colored differently according to its symbol. The water Pokeball has an upper blue color, the fire Pokeball has an upper red color, and the grass Pokeball has an upper green color. As usual, Professor Araragi won't reveal what Pokemon are in the Pokeballs.
"Oohhh, three Pokeballs!" Miho exclaimed, "I think I'll take this one!" Miho lifts up the azure-blue Pokeball and presses the button in the center. A light flashes as the Pokeball opens up and an otter-like Pokemon came out. It looked left, then right, then left again before finally running behind Miho and hugging her leg.
"Good choice Miho," Professor Araragi said smiling, "Mijumaru is a very loyal Pokemon and a great companion to have." Miho stroked Mijumaru's fluffy, light blue fur and rubbed it's slightly large, yet adorable, red nose. Mijumaru giggled and handed Miho the shell on its chest.
"That's Mijumaru's way of saying 'I'm your friend'" Professor Araragi noted, "It seems to like you dear."
"Oh thank you Professor Araragi!" Miho said holding Mijumaru in her arms before exiting the room, leaving Sosuke and Professor Araragi alone.
"Now it's your turn Sosuke," Professor Araragi said leaning towards Sosuke, "Which Pokemon will you choose?"
Sosuke thought hard about the two Pokemon left. To the right is the green Pokeball most likely containing a grass Pokemon; what that Pokemon is, is out of Sosuke to know. The only thing he speculates is that the grass Pokemon is probably cool, as shown by many other grass Pokemon in the area. To the right, a bright red Pokeball that most likely holds a fire Pokemon; one of Sosuke's favorite types. Who knows if this Pokemon is supremely cool, or a total ditz?
"I think I'll take this one," Sosuke said reaching for the green Pokeball.
"Are you sure about that?" a voice said, "Do you really want that?"
"Wait, I know that voice anywhere…" Sosuke said, "Is that you, Cheren?" He turned his head towards the door and Cheren, his childhood friend and rival, was standing there; leaning against the door in his cool-as-ever pose with his hands in his blue jacket. His dark hair matched the pants he wore and he is, for Sosuke's opinion, the only person to make glasses ever look good.
"I know you like Fire Pokemon," Cheren said walking towards Sosuke and Professor Araragi, "So why are you picking the grass Pokemon?"
"W-well…. y-you see," Sosuke stuttered, "I think it'd be c-cool to have an awesome grass Pokemon with me."
"Pokemon isn't about being cool, or strong for that matter," Cheren lectured, "It's about winning with your favorites. I guess you don't understand that yet."
"W-what?!" Sosuke said angrily, "I totally understand! In fact, I'll show you!" He snatched up the green Pokeball and tossed the red one towards Cheren.
"Then let's battle!" both trainers shouted as they threw up their Pokeballs. A Tsutaja came out of Sosuke's Pokeball, whilst a Pokabu came out of Cheren's. Tsutaja was just as cool as Sosuke had hoped; it was slim, sleek, and looked powerful. Pokabu, on the other hand, was just an orange and black pig with a funny looking tail.
"Pfft," Sosuke thought, "This game is totally in the bag. That lumpy pig stands no chance compared to my awesome Pokemon."
